Thanks to the MLB At Bat app, the Rangers lose to Houston 8-0. And Matt Harrison was taken out of the game with back stiffness. Great.

The good news is, they actually do carry FS Southwest down here in South Texas. So I'll be watching the game tomorrow night. :D

They are reporting now that Fernandez's UCL tear is worse than anticipated. There is a chance he's out 12-18 months not 12-15 months. That would pretty much eliminate almost all of 2015 as well.

Can't call that an error!
I think it most definitely is... it's the outfield equivalent of a ground ball going through an infielders legs with no glove contact.
I know this is a few days old, but it was a huge home town call. I agree that it was an error, but is how often do you see a fly ball that no one gets a glove on actually get called an error. Never.
Took a bit, but found an example.
This was ruled a hit.

Somebody must have angered the Astros last night. There is action tonight, but we won 8-0 hosting the Texas Rangers last night. One too many jokes on J. Altuve? Somebody else made fun of L.J. Hoes? The Astros won big last night. Let's see how this one tonight goes.

Oh, and unlike you with FOX Sports Southwest, we still have our frustrations with CSN Houston and people still being unable to see Astros, Rockets, or Dynamo games.

I didn't see the game, but I hear Brandon McCarthy pitched a solid 8 innings with only a single run and then the closer decided that maybe we didn't need to win afterall and let them have 4 more in the 9th. :ouch:

Real bummer about Perez. I've said it numerous times, he had a bright future ahead of him.

And even more injuries for Texas...Matt Harrison to the DL with back inflammation. And both likely won't return this season. With all these injuries piling up, I doubt the Rangers will be able to keep pace with everyone else. Currently in 4th place in the division.

be prepared...he's getting better.

Springer with yet another HR, this time a 2-run liner over the Crawford Boxes to tie it up. I think he's starting to settle in... This is what I expected him to do when the season started.

Down 4-0 to Texas, the Houston Astros managed to rally back. A two-run jack followed by some walk-off magic led us to beat those boys from up north 5-4. Now if only the Astros can win more often and play hard on a consistent basis...

Anyhow, we won! Back-to-back, in fact. Congratulations to all other winners from Wednesday.

It's mechanics and the way pitchers are being taught. Sometimes the "K" is actually not wanted if you need to overexert yourself.

Quick team assessment before I post about the Astros' next series...

The Houston Astros are 14-27 so far on this season. We had a day off after our series win hosting the Texas Rangers. All the Astros can do is just keep winning games and keep playing hard just to give themselves hope in slowly building themselves up to be relevant again. The young talent and the prospects will help in the future. However, this is a "what have you done for me lately?" deal. A bright future is nice, but it's all about the present. And at the moment, the Astros aren't *there* yet. I am sure we will eventually be *there* once this team comes together to be a contender. I'd rather the Astros be ANYTHING but a doormat. Any other fan of a losing team (or a team not accustomed to being a winner) would wish the same.

If you like to assess your own team (or another team), feel free to do so. My Astros will host the Chicago White Sox this weekend. I hope your team(s) do great this weekend.

Enjoy some baseball this weekend.

Texas has a ragtag rotation since two big names have gone down for the rest of the season. And that will be the death of them this season.

There are only two proven starters in the rotation as of now, Yu Darvish and Colby Lewis. Nick Tepesch was part of the rotation last year before injuries forced him to the DL, so he has the experience but was inconsistent. Robbie Ross has been very inconsistent, and Nick Martinez is unproven. Derek Holland will be back in June or July, and we don't know how his body will react to the knee surgery he had.

As far as bats, they're doing okay. Could be better, but it's enough to get the job done. Still waiting on Profar and Soto to come back. Kevin Kouzmanoff is likely done for the year thanks to a herniated disc, which is what sidelined Matt Harrison all of last year.

Injuries continue to mount for the Reds. Votto may possibly be headed to the DL with a quad strain. He would be joining Bruce, Latos, and Cingrani if he does. This just as Mesoraco comes off the DL, with Chapman just coming off of it the past week, and Hamilton starting to heal up from his hand injury suffered a couple weeks back. There must be something in the water.

Also we can't win 1 run games, which has accounted for almost 50% of all the games we've played this year.

Edit: Mesoraco just hit a homer in his first at-bat back from the DL as I was writing this. He was the hottest hitting player on the team (and possibly the league) before his DL stint.

Astros put up two runs last night. Then, Chicago put up three runs. And afterwards last night... we did what the 2005 Astros did- fail to the White Sox. 7-2 in favor of the White Sox. Last night was apparently the 14th open roof game of the season... which is also how many wins we currently have on the season so far. Game 2 of this series continues this afternoon.

Texas drops their 3rd straight, and got shutout by the Blue Jays 2-0. Darvish pitched great, but no offense handed him a loss he really didn't deserve.

We hit Kershaw for 6 runs in the 2nd, pushing him out of the game and raising his ERA over 4.00. Beat LA!

Edit: seems the offense decided to show up tonight. This game totally didn't go how I thought it would. And that's ok. :D

Dodgers bullpen is doing wonders for them tonight.

Mets won a game, deciding to put Lagares back in the lineup. Why he was out of the lineup for the past week is beyond intelligence-defying.
