THIS JUST IN...

Jacob deGrom of the New York Mets was scratched from his start tomorrow and may likely be done for the season. Tough break for the Mets.

Game 2 of HOU at SEA was played out yesterday. The Astros were getting no-hit through about half of the game until we managed to get some hits and runs going. We managed to win 2-1. HOU's win was a combination of Mike Fiers getting the win and Ken Giles getting the Save. James Paxton was Seattle's losing pitcher.

Congratulations to Saturday's other winners, and I'll be sure to check into this thread to discuss how today's finale of HOU at SEA goes.

The Astros got put down 7-3 today in the series finale at the Seattle Mariners. So the sweep for the Astros is denied. Denying the sweep was a win by Ariel Miranda for Seattle. Doug Fister took the loss for Houston. My Astros are now 78-71 on the season.

Up next for the Houston Astros... more late games! We will now entertain the Oakland Athletics as this road trip continues.

Congratulations to Sunday's other winners, including the Detroit Tigers whacking the Cleveland Indians in Cleveland.

Houston at Oakland. New series. The Oakland Athletics were ahead 2-1 for most of the game. Once the final outs were recorded, we ended up winning 4-2. The Houston Astros won with Luke Gregerson and got a Save from Ken Giles. For the A's, Ryan Madson took the loss. The Astros and Athletics hook up again later tonight.

Congratulations to Monday's other winners. Enjoy the Tuesday slate of games in the meanwhile.

Adleman pitched a good game for the Reds last night, 6.1 innings of 2 run ball. Of course, it was all for naught as we dropped the game 5-2 after reliever Blake Wood decided to give up 3 more runs. Ex-Red Chapman came in and mowed us down (minus a walk to Schebler) in the 9th to finish it off.

But hey, we set a record! We allowed 3 more home runs, adding up to 242 on the year, breaking the all time season high mark set by the '96 Tigers. And we still have 12 games to go. Yay, Reds! Let's DESTROY the record! Make it unbreakable!

This one couldn't be settled in nine innings, so my Astros needed 10 to win 2-1 at the Oakland Athletics. Helping us improve to 80-71 was a win by Chris Devenski and a Save from Ken Giles. On the losing end for Oakland was Sean Doolittle. The series concludes Wednesday afternoon.

Congratulations to all other winners from Tuesday, including the Toronto Blue Jays smacking the Seattle Mariners in Seattle.

This HOU at OAK series concluded today, and we beat the Oakland Athletics 6-5. This win is a sweep for the Houston Astros. So we've figured out every AL West team besides Texas. Anyhow, the win for Houston goes to Collin McHugh, and Luke Gregerson picked up the Save. Taking the loss for OAK in this sweep was Daniel Mengden. 81-71 is now the record the Astros have after this sweep.

Up next for Houston... we're back home to host California's other AL team- the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim for a four-game set.

Congratulations to Wednesday's other winners up to and beyond the time of this post, including the Colorado Rockies destroying the St. Louis Cardinals in Denver. I also hear ESPN will pay tribute to Vin Scully's illustrious 67(?)-year broadcasting career and that MLB Network will televise the final game he will be calling.

Mets get swept by Atlanta. If it weren't for the Giants and Cardinals playing pathetically, the Mets wouldn't even be leading the wild card race.

Swept by the 2016 Atlanta Braves... that HAS to be rock bottom or darned close, does it? Well, either that or being swept by the 2016 Minnesota Twins. I'm sure not even Chipper Jones could save this Braves team. The NL Wild Card is still plenty interesting. The teams that lock up the NL Wild Card slots may come down to the final day of the regular season.

So happy ESPN is gifting everyone with an inning of Vin Scully. October 2nd is truly going to be the end of an era in baseball and will be bittersweet for sure.

As I can't stand the Cards, go Mets!

Oh, and the Reds got swept by the Cubs last night. No surprise there.

The Tigers won two games today against the Twins: The first was a 9-4 victory and the second was a 4-2 victory. It was the first sweep of a doubleheader on the road for the team since 2005. It's also worth noting that the Twins are 2 losses away from the dubious 100 loss mark for the season.

The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim came into Houston and handed us a 2-0 loss tonight. All the scoring happened in the first inning. Houston could only collect eight hits. In the end, Ricky Nolasco got the win while Andrew Bailey got the Save. Mike Fiers was Houston's losing pitcher. Well, we'll suit up and battle again tomorrow night.

Congratulations to Thursday's other winners.

Make it back-to-back wins for the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, and back-to-back losses for the Houston Astros trying to stay alive in the AL Wild Card hunt. The latest fail was a 10-6 loss. At one point, the Astros finally took the lead with a 6-3 score heading into the 9th inning. What happened since was another fail job. F:censoring:ing up in a crucial time of the season isn't going to help anybody's cause. Surely the Astros are learning this the hard way. I heard over the radio that this was the Astros' 19th blown save. Freaking sad... and damned disappointing. Winning for LAA was Cody Ege, and the Astros' loser was Ken Giles. Two more chances to reverse this bulls:censored: performance and win for a f:censored:ing change, and one of those begins tomorrow.

Elsewhere...

...congratulations to the inevitable- Texas winning the AL West. So they are "in" along with the Chicago Cubs. Still a lot of positions to be filled out in terms of postseason play.

Congratulations also to everyone who won on Friday.

Tigers beat the Royals 8-3 tonight and thus still are controlling a Wild Card spot. That's important since they'll probably be losing the upcoming games against Cleveland.....

Early on, the Astros were ahead 2-0. Since? 10-4, Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. The big factors were LAA putting a 4-spot on the Astros in the Top of the 8th followed by a 5-spot in the Top of the 9th. Had we kept them from scoring in those two innings, we would have won 4-1. What the f:censored: happened to the Astros? They may seem content to try to make the playoffs next season as opposed to making back-to-back playoff appearances. So it's now three straight losses and stuck on 81 wins (now 81-74). A win tomorrow for LAA will make it a sweep of my Astros in a crucial point of the season. Now the winners and losers... LAA's winning pitcher was José Valdez, and HOU's losing pitcher was Luke Gregerson.

Congratulations to Saturday's other winners, including the other Texas team doing what the Astros SHOULD be doing- winning.

I am so crushed right now. I was just thinking I gotta buy tickets to see ichiro before he retires, and then Jose ****ing dies. ****!

Marlins/Braves game that was supposed to be played today has been cancelled. It's a sad day in baseball for sure.

Also worth noting that Indians P Bobby Ojeda was on the boat as well. He reportedly lost a lot of blood but survived as of right now. I hope they have an update on him soon.
So this would be his second boating accident?

Where did you hear that about Ojeda? He wasn't on that boat as far as I can tell because he was in New York until about midnight last night covering the Mets post game (at the very least). His accident occurred 23 years ago.

Its a mistake in the way the story was written, it was takling about the accident in 1993, but it made it sound like he was on the boat last night

I think that this is the perfect opportunity to show the Wild Card standings again (even though it is out of order).

The incredibly heartwrenching thing is that the Marlins will be for all intensive purposes eliminated from the playoffs if the Mets and Giants win today. That has to be one of the more surreal events.

What tbwhhs said.

Nobody cares about baseball anymore. It's going to be so hard to even go watch a game. Are you kidding me? This is disgusting man. I can't even think about it.

My thoughts and prayers go out in loving memory of José Fernandez and all whom have known and loved him. Awful to learn of him dying in a boating accident.

We denied the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim from sweeping us. The Houston Astros won by the score we SHOULD have won last night had it not been for the bullpen blowing it- 4-1. The HOU winner was Joe Musgrove along with Ken Giles getting the Save. Daniel Wright was the LAA loser. We're not done with LAA. Our final series of the regular season is AT the Angels. This win for the Astros will give us another winning record season. We still have a lot of work to do to save our playoff chances.

Up next for the Houston Astros Baseball Club... our final Home series of the regular season is against the Seattle Mariners.

Congratulations to Sunday's other winners. And once again... my condolences go out in loving memory of Miami Marlins pitcher José Fernandez.

The Reds won the series against Milwaukee by taking last night and this afternoon's games, our first series win in I can't remember how long. All that's left on the schedule is a 4 game set at St. Louis, followed by having the Cubbies come to town for the final 3 games of the season.

Condolences to Jose Fernandez, family, friends, (ex)teammates and coaches. Something like that is always hard to hear about, especially at such a young age.

My gut says that the Tigers won't make the playoffs now because they lost to KC again and now have to face the Indians that have owned them this year. Oh well. They've been way better than people thought they'd be and at least will have a winning season when it's over.
