Major Solar Flare

Just turned on a light and the bulb made a nice bang and fell out of the ceiling. Now just sat here quiviring in the dark awaiting my fate.

As of 1300 UTC/8 AM Eastern US, we are still under a G3 (Strong) Geomagnetic Storm, along with Solar Radiation (affects satellites, GPS, high latitude/polar flights, and High Frequency/HAM radio) at S2. However, the Sun launched another flare very early this morning at 03:53 UT, which was an M6.3 flare and is pretty much directly earth directed, as AR1429 is at the center of the solar disc, and another Coronal Mass Ejection is indeed on it's way.

That's pretty much my Friday night...

INCOMING CME: A CME launched from the sun on March 9th is nearing Earth. According to analysts at the Goddard Space Weather Lab, the cloud will arrive on March 11th at 0649 UT (+/- 7 hr). This is not a particularly potent CME. Nevertheless, high-latitude geomagnetic storms are possible when it arrives.
