You might be right, i think i was biased because of the last Low Power/Limbo Stick race results on Spa/Matterhorn/SSR5. And worse, just realized i completely missed @watermelon punch's remarks earlier in the thread that the Volvo should come after the Ka :dunce: -- i second that, this could be the right remedy.

I've been too unwell to do any testing that would be fair to me or fair to the cars. :ouch:
Just looking at someone else doing that Matterhorn seasonal made me want to lie down. :scared:

It definitely appears that the Low Power list will need more testing, and probably more adjustments.

The limbo stick list is just very low power cars, and just the nature of that could make it very misleading depending on track & driver and like @snowgt said, where the combination started on the starting grid. Starting grid position is 10x more significant with the limbo stick cars compared to the Perf Coupes or even the Historic list... simply because the cars don't go very fast and the race would have to be quite long (undesirably so) on some tracks, to negate the starting grid position as much.
So yeah, expect misleading results in most of the lowest power tests. So many factors involved.
Especially that one tiny mistake in the really low power cars... and you lose momentum. So a seemingly large performance gap isn't really that large at all, considering that losing momentum can set you back even more.

Off topic, but did anyone notice a change in brake balance on some cars in 1.18? The new VW VGT has a well adjusted brake balance right from the start, could use the full pedal travel with ABS0. Then i did the Expert A-Spec Seasonal on Midfield with the 330P4 with ABS0, BB 5/5. Normally it would lock up if you brake fully, but now i could slam the brakes on straights without any lockup. I remember that for cars with racing brakes you could barely use half the brake pedal travel without lockup when on BB 5/5. :odd:

Great work @snowgt, i envy your stamina! 👍 You single-handedly covered most of the 6 new low power lists cooking! I kept the spreadsheets up to date with your testing times, but i'll wait posting preliminary results until @watermelon punch is well again.

Here is the almost-final Limbo Stick list:

1 Fiat Panda Super i.e. '90
2 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia Coupe (Type-1) '68
3 Toyota Sports 800 '65
4 Nissan PAO '89
5 Ford Ka '01
6 Volvo 240 GLT Estate '88
7 Nissan SKYLINE Sport Coupe (BLRA-3) '62
8 Nissan Be-1 '87
9 Mini Cooper 1.3i '98
10 Suzuki Kei Works '02
11 Honda S800 '66
12 Mitsubishi Minica Dangan ZZ '89
13 Triumph Spitfire 1500 '74
14 Autobianchi A112 Abarth '79
15 Mitsubishi Mirage 1400GLX '78

There was discussion to switch the Skyline and the Be-1, as the former has better straight-line performance. Until now the few test races missed those two, so i'll see if i can slip in a shift-list Limbo Stick race in the Track day. :)

I'll add a couple more batches of 30 in the coming 1-2 weeks. Now that I'm this far, I might as well finish those where I think it makes sense to drive them with CS tyres. I've already tested about 50 cars more, but I'm waiting to post them until I'm sure the batches of 30 don't overlap. I think I only have about 30-40 left to test, so then I can take a breather.

Or go on to test something else.

In all honesty though, I think I have a finished list of "Mid-Engine Heaven, part II" (the faster part) lying around that I haven't posted yet. And some other ideas, like...

Track Day Specials (Cars from Tuning Companies, etc., SM tyres)
Bargain Coupés (FR, 2-door, price below 50,000cr., SH tyres)
Aaaand ... Station Wagons :D

- Firebird Trans Am, MR2 G-Limited, SilEighty, El Camino, Dome Zero, SRT4, Stratos, Megane Trophy & Sprinter Trueno SS top out at SSR7, but not at Monza NC.
- E-Type tops out also at Monza NC and Fuji, so is slightly problematic.

I think I can move on to other things now. :D

My suggested choice in bold. And I am aware that…
a) The Lexus LFA is not really an MR, but it's considered to be a front-mid engined car as the engine is so far back behind the front axle. So I figured, why not include it. It certainly fits performance-wise.
b) that the 2 Countachs are already on the Classics list. The problem is that I found no other MR's that would fit between the NSX and the R8/Spyker. But I guess there's worse things than having to drive a Countach a little bit more often. ;)

Then, we have the Tuning/Track Day list. I put the emphasis on those cars that have really great handling.

Test parameters like above.

Hey, that's beautiful: three new lists that i'm itching to race straight away! :dopey:👍
Especially Bargain Coupés hits the spot. :D
Thank's @snowgt, and for the extensive Low Power testing too!

I'll create the testing spreadsheets ASAP.

Just found this thread. Great stuff! Especially that Track Day Special

I have been thinking of restarting my Club as "All Premium Club". Continuing where I left with "All Japan Club". Now I am thinking maybe instead my lists might fit here...

The list name could be something like "All Premium" :)

Edit: gave up trying to format this stuff, so here is a screenshot (sorry the order should be reversed for shuffle purposes) :/

Edit2: My lap times are using Comfort Mediums but if more fitting, Comfort Softs would work as well :) The other times are found from SuzukaStar's thread using Comfort Softs.

Hey @Cu3e, take a look here:

All Premiums

You can switch to the 'Data' tab at the bottom to see all TT times i have put together. I pulled them from a big TT time list from the big TT collectors on GTPlanet. I wanted to polish it first, but since i can never polish it enough, i might as well share it here:

GTPlanet Lap Times

There is a 'CarLists' tab where i can paste some cars and extract TT times. If you have any questions, just ask! :)

Daaang, looks like this thread disappeared from my alerts ages ago. I just assumed nobody was testing anything anymore. to @snowgt for all that testing I missed, when I have a chance I'm going to have to have a go at Mid-Engine Heaven, Tuning/Trackday and Bargain Coupés.

Track Day test results

Laguna Seca, SM tyres

1:37.648 -- Spoon Civic Type R (EK) '00
1:35.299 -- Trial Celica SS-II (ZZT231) '03
1:35.221 -- Nismo 400R '96

1:35.077 -- Spoon S2000 '00
1:34.401 -- Gran Turismo Amuse/Opera Performance 350Z RS
1:33.541 -- Nismo Skyline GT-R R-tune (R34) '99
1:33.281 -- Amuse Nismo 380RS Super Leggera
1:31.794 -- Shelby Series One Super Charged '03
1:31.779 -- High End Performance G37

1:31.316 -- Opera Performance S2000 '04
1:31.171 -- Nismo Fairlady Z Z-tune (Z33) '03
1:30.289 -- RE Amemiya FD3S RX-7
1:29.845 -- KTM X-Bow Street '12
1:29.680 -- Amuse S2000 GT1 '04
1:29.427 -- Nissan GT-R Nismo '14

The two bolded pairs I will have to rerun, as the difference is clearly insignificant.

IMO the Spoon Civic and Skyline GT-R R-tune are kinda garbage, all the others range from pretty good to really, really good (top marks to the RE Amemiya RX-7, which is brilliant).

Glad you like the selection. 👍 I also remember the RE Amemiya along with the Opera S2000 as one of my favourites.

I was trying to pick especially the ones that generally provide good grip and are fun to drive, because a) we also need to think about the more casual drivers and some of the tuned cars are rather a handful (like e.g. the Trans-Cammer and the Red Devil), and b) those same cars usually have loads of horsepower, so they constitute match-up problems with the tuned cars that have the performance more on the chassis-side.

Hmm, I drove the Civic in our test race at Laguna and I thought it was rather brilliant for an FF. Loads of grip and very little understeer combined with a red line of 11,600 is pretty epic. It's supposed to be about a second off the Trial Celica. 2.4s seems a lot. I might give those a try on Laguna as well.

The 400R is special in the way that all the power is in the mid-range. If I remember correctly, shifting at 7,000rpm helps (which is way off the red line). It's got quite a big power-advantage over 350Z, 380RS (and certainly the Spoon S2000), but that probably doesn't come into play much at Laguna. I would say it's definitely faster that the Spoon S2000, the 350Z RS might be faster than the 400R on part of the tracks.

Looks like the same is true for the Nismo GT-R R-tune, although I think that the R-tune and the 380RS SL will probably trade places depending on track.

From what I see the rest of your times seem to confirm the order.

Gave the slower part of the cars a quick run-through at Laguna…

1:37,349 Spoon Civic Type R (EK) '00
1:36,021 Trial Celica SS-II (ZZT231) '03
1:35,719 Spoon S2000 '00
1:35,350 Nismo 400R '96
1:34,917 Gran Turismo Amuse/Opera Performance 350Z RS
1:33,377 Nismo Skyline GT-R R-tune (R34) '99
1:33,247 Amuse Nismo 380RS Super Leggera

So, got the same reversed order for 400R/350Z RS and Skyline R-tune/380RS SL as @amarynceos on this track.

I retested it along with the too-close pairs, and it was much better than I remembered yesterday. I think what happened was that I was coming off of a long testing session with a GT300 Lexus, and didn't fully shift gears between car types. :D I was probably trying to chuck the Civic into corners like it was a rotatable MR with good downforce, with predictable results.

@tarnheld here's some revised data (fresh times bolded):

  1. 1:36.477 -- Spoon Civic Type R (EK) '00
  2. 1:35.048 -- Trial Celica SS-II (ZZT231) '03
  3. 1:34.905 -- Spoon S2000 '00
  4. 1:34.778 -- Nismo 400R '96

  14. 1:29.680 -- Amuse S2000 GT1 '04
  15. 1:29.427 -- Nissan GT-R Nismo '14

The only ordering which changed was between the Spoon S2000 and the Nismo 400R.

Looks very similar to what I got at Laguna now, at least in terms of differences between all the cars. I don't know how you did some of those lap times though. If you did them online with grip reduction I need to work on my driving! :scared:

Spread between first and last also looks good. I had them at 12s at a long track like Suzuka, and this now suggests it's around 7s at Laguna, so that should be fine.

Haha, no, I ran those offline with grip reduction, so you've still got the usual 1-2s gap over me. ;) I usually do my testing from the 'test drive' option in the garage, for various reasons of convenience.

The Forgotten Lists post:

@snowgt's conceptions:
Track Day Specials, test driven, good shape
Mid Engine Heaven, good shape
Bargain Coupés, good shape
Mid Engine Heaven II, more testers
Pre-Millenium Sportscars, more testers
Schwarzwald League II, more testers

@watermelon punch's conceptions:
Commuter
Convertibles

Road Trip
Sedans
EV&CVT
Low Power (updated)

lost in time:
Vision GTs

@Patrick8308' conception:
Schwarzwald League

As you see, we have lot's and lot's of lists waiting to be finished. This is more of a reference post to have links to all lists available. I'll do my best to get them back in good shape. If you fancy some testing, keep in mind that consistent settings is more important than fast times, just make sure you use the same settings for every car. I'll see what i can do to create one or two TT events somewhere in order to make the time collection a little easier, stay tuned. 👍

I would like to release the Track Day Specials as is, and do a Special Track Day on Friday, one list, 5 tracks. :D
What do you think? Is it ready for take-off?

I might tune in for that. (See what I did there? :sly:)

Order can stay the way it is now, I'd say. (400R @ #4 and R-tune @ #6) Those two are faster in a straight line than their closest opponents, but more difficult to drive, so the predominant order will probably be how it's listed in the table now.
