Makeshift Shuffle - No Tuning RacesOpen

Entry is refused due to network incompatibility with you Amar :(

At least you managed to get in, in the end! I used to get this quite frequently with Brandon's rooms, and I could always get in after several attempts. No idea why, but it is an annoying thing, no? 👍

I'm glad to see racers are surviving with the lack of support from me (which is more my loss than anyone else's! :grumpy:)
I've been very out of the loop due to work + life being overwhelming with some health issues tossed in just to make it impossible for me to race recently, or get much of anything done period!

But I'm finally recovering from my vertigo for the most part, so I can't wait to be able to come out to play again soon!!!
And hopefully not be driving like a drunken sailor.

Tip: Do NOT get vertigo! It ruins online racing completely... not to mention makes building stairwells way too exciting & not in a good way. (And also probably funds really nice real life cars for ear nose & throat specialists.)

Uuuh, Parity Racing! :D I just got that parity sheet up to date... :dunce:

@Litchi and @RDAardvark, since you've been away for so long and might want to join today: parity races are a little different from shuffle, you can read more about it here under 'Parity Car Assignment System'. It's basically a way to assign you a car from the lists that puts you in par with all other racers. As you have no parity assignment yet (you get it by doing at least 3 shuffle races), you will get the third lowest car number -- that's #7 in any list. The numbers can change after the first race -- if you win, you get car #5, if you make podium you get car #6, if you come out last, you will get #8 in the races that follow.

You can always choose to use the next slower car in the list, regardless of what your parity assignment is.

So if you haven't bought all the cars, don't worry, if you have:

#4 Mini Marcos GT '70
#5 Isuzu Bellett 1600 GT-R '69
#6 Isuzu 117 Coupé '68
#7 Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint Speciale '63
#8 Honda 1300 Coupe 9 S '70

#4 Chevrolet Camaro SS '10
#5 Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione '08
#6 TVR Tuscan Speed 6 '00
#7 Aston Martin V12 Vantage '10
#8 Ferrari California '08

#6 Acura NSX '91
#7 Mitsubishi GTO Twin Turbo MR '98

you should be good to go! :)

EDIT: fixed stupid car selection error! :dunce:

Did I understand correctly wednesday is Parity Night?

No, not every wednesday, but the wednesday events are part of a series. A series consists of two shuffle events and ends with a parity event. The series podium is awarded with combo picks for future shuffle races, you can check for picks not yet taken here.

Oops, i just realized i gave the wrong car selection for new members above. I got confused again with the car choice you have in parity events. :dunce: To myself: you can pick your car number or the next slower car -- the one with the lower number.

EDIT: @Cu3e, you are right about the Giulia, you can choose between the Giulia and the Honda. Who thought that this can be so confusing... :D

Hi gentlemen!

I could be interested in joining some of your events as you seem to have loads of fun around here. Unfortunately I don't have much free time, I'm available on Friday nights but I already run my own parity series at that time. Would you run some events during weekends by any chance? I could join from time to time if it's all right for you guys.

Cheers

@Tijee , I am no authority here and have been away for a while but I am the one who pointed you here tonight so thought I'd write :)

I have joined late on occasion and join only some of the races. It is a series but I believe there is no obligation to join every race.

There is the issue of joining the lobby mid race. Some get distracted (including me sometimes). I try to time my latejoin after race if possible.

Hi, you're welcome! Nice series you run by the way, just a little out of my timezone.

We had a sunday spot at 17:30 UTC, but it lacked participants (me too) so it's dormant now. Maybe we can revive it if there is interest, or find another spot during weekends? Anyone? I must admit that i cannot commit on hosting on weekends, but i would love to do some racing if find the time. :)

Actually the day is not really a problem for me, but I'm rarely available (read "alone") before 21:00 GMT (this is why my series is so late at night, I live in France actually so we're in the same timezone @tarnheld :P). It could be easier on weekends though, depending on the time. I'll follow this thread in case some other players are interested in playing on weekends.

Thanks :)👍

Just get the Giulia @Tijee and join the last race. Bring @hobbsy with you :D it is a sweet car 👍

Ok, I shut up now, peace :D

On the rare occasion (as today is) I may be able to make it tonight... time is normally too early.

I have seen this thread before, however as of right now I have no idea (or time to read through) of what I need to do!!! :boggled: which probably sounds a bit audacious of me. if someone can give me a quick run down of what I should do,bring etc I could make some quick preparations...

Presuming of course you will have me?!

In the meantime I'll try and read though the first few posts, while I juggle the kids and set up the rig

Thanks to @Cu3e for the heads up

Ok cool, im all set up... Just the kids to sort out! ;)

I presume its the club lobby 1026878 (of which I've previously joined! lol)

Is the first race at 7:30 BST or room open at this time?

Cheers

Great racing guys, last one was nice and close for a while there... one to watch back ;)
Some old faces and some new, so good to meet & race you new guys (to me!), its surprising sometimes how small these circles of people can be! I guess we must be amongst the Die Hard crew now? :sly:

seeing how the schedule panned out, I may be able to make future races, most probably from race 2 onwards, every few weeks or so!

That is of course if I'm invited back

Thanks to @amarynceos for hosting

I had 3 great races tonight, especially the 3rd one where I managed to come from 6th to 1st. Sorry for my misunderstanding about cars allocation, I didn't have the time to read all the process carefully today, my bad. I'll be ok for the next time 👍.
I was really happy to see snowgt and hobbsy, such a long time that I haven't seen you on the track guys :)

I'll be there for the next event for sure ;) :gtpflag:

Yeah, great races. I still have lots to learn about the pitstops. In the first race I was right behind @amarynceos right until pitstop but lost some valuable time there. In second race I reduced too much fuel being added and ran out of juice half lap to goal :dunce:

Last race at Tsukuba was better for me. Got to first position before first turn. Had some challenge trying to defend against @Litchi but finally the inevitable happened, a very clean pass. Soon @hobbsy was behind me and passed briefly before the backstraight but I recovered my position in the next turn. Lots of action, zero contact. Very fun stuff!

The length of the race seemed perfect. Maybe few laps short for @snowgt at Tsukuba. He gained on me every lap but time just ran out :)

3 good races yesterday. In race 1, @Litchi was leading and pulling away slightly in his NSX, but then pitted early, so I found myself in the lead. On lap 4 I kind of lost concentration though, and my mind went on auto-pilot and tried to run the GP/F variation instead (I'm currently testing cars there), which is not a good idea in a heavy damage race. Lost a lot of time limping back to the pits and finished behind three NSX's.

At Laguna, I was able to use the good starting position for race 2 and hang on to the lead after a very close fight with Litchi in our twin red 8C's.

Tsukuba was a very close race. The Alfas and both Isuzus were pretty closely matched and the Bellett was lacking juuust a little power, but made up most of it through turns. Was reeling in @Cu3e tenth by tenth in the end, but only caught his slipstream on the last lap and wasn't able to challenge him anymore. Happy with 3rd though.
