Yeah, I wouldn't have thought of them releasing Zahara with the FT1 VGT. It's absolutely a great idea. I'll be amazed if PD doesn't do that.
Sometimes I think too deeply into things... but it does seem logical.

But you have to admit, it's a great idea considering they used the FT1 in the Zahara video.
The FT-1 had just been released by that time, it was a no brainer to use a popular new machine in a promotional video. Highly doubt the FT-1 being in there means anything.

Great.

If this idea is true, even more waiting for Zahara will happen.

This track better be worth the wait

Otherwise, expect a backlash from me.

Let's put down two possible scenarios:

A. Update 1.12 is released mid to late August, featuring Circuito de la Sierra, and possibly two more VGT cars.
B. The Toyota FT-1 Vision Gran Turismo and Circuito de la Sierra are released in September.

Well, look at it this way, the amount of press time Gran Turismo is getting due to this Toyota FT-1 VGT, it would make sense that they release it alongside the longest track in GT6, something that is sure to get them massive amounts of press time.

This seems reasonable. The smartest thing I've said today

That would be a MASSIVE slip-up. If that were the case, I'm sure PD would have apologized for the confusion. Besides, files related to Circuito de la Sierra were included in 1.09, so I'm pretty positive it's going to hit this month.

Or maybe they figured that since the cat was out of the bag that they might as well run with it... Nah, you're probably right...

Considering Sierra/Zahara, a Suburu VGT, and an Alfa Romeo VGT are already pre-coded into the game, my guess is on them being released 1st, then the FT-1 Race ver. afterwards.

Choice "A" please.

If you remember, senna content gave us 3 cars and 2 remade tracks together, red bull ring gave us 2 new cars (ts030 and Lexus) and 2 versions of red bull ring together.

I think (just my opinion) that they are deliberately releasing cars and tracks together as "packs", so I think Zahara will come at same time when car/s is/are released.

Possibly they are going to do a similar thing to the mitsu surprise release and give us the Alfa concept (and maybe the Subaru as well) as a surprise with Zahara.

(Don't forget MOST people playing the game don't know about the
Alfa and Subaru names in the code so it would be a surprise for MOST people).

Not sure. On a track longer than the Nurburgring, you have to start considering performance. More 3D objects = more polygons = more lighting data to work out = worse framerate, so some corners in trackside detail have to be cut.

The Nurburgring is already too long, that's why PD have developed texture streaming, so they can load in only the textures needed to be displayed immediately, then stream the others in as they're needed (starting at a distance, so the smaller, low-res ones come in first; e.g. mip-maps). Remember when GT5 got that loading time cut in an update? That was making good use of streaming.

Geometry is a bit harder, except for static objects like huts and trees, but the terrain and track surface can also be streamed in low-detail first, if the geometry is stored that way. If it has to load in chunks of full-detail terrain, it won't work so well. I think this geometry streaming is partly why the course maker has been delayed, because not only do you need a way of loading in the geometry as it's needed, you also need a way of selectively rendering what detail you have loaded in (the visibility problem).

The tracks do this using visibility sectors defined on the track location you're looking from (standard stuff), but for open course maker areas like Ronda, that very quickly becomes inefficient to the point of almost useless (the visibility data would rival the geometry in terms of size). You need a more procedural technique, which are a little tricky to tune. They are more common in open world games, with varying levels of sophistication. Here's a nice list of common visibility techniques.

I wish it'll hit this month but there is a part of me that says it will come along with the Toyota VGT, mainly due to that video of the FT-1 driving on Zahara, even though it is the FT-1, I can see PD releasing the Race-spec FT-1 with Zahara.
They said they'd have content updates every month, and recently they've been holding to it pretty well. 1.11 wasn't a content update, so that's why I expect it this month.

There's two VGTs already unreleased but in the game code, so by default we will be getting another update this month.

The question is is if this next update will bring Cicuito de la Sierra, or just more hidden files. (It's a large map, and I could imagine it being added in chunks over a few updates).

"He has sold over 70 million copies in 15 years, giving rise to one of the references of racing simulation. Kazunori Yamauchi, professional pilot but especially producer and creator of Gran Turismo, it is also one of the great supporters of the GT Academy, the virtual-real competition that this year has selected a young man to begin a career as a pilot. Wednesday, on the podium at Silverstone, Yamauchi has crowned French Gaeton Paletou. Then it was back to studying the next evolution of the series: the new updates for Gran Turismo 6 on PlayStation 3, but especially the seventh chapter, the output (perhaps) by the end of 2015 at Silverstone, as well as try out the GT-R , the game designers met with reporters here some of his answers.

Mr. Yamauchi, what is your favorite season?
I watch regularly Formula 1, but in Japan the other categories are more difficult to follow because they are not transmitted. In Use I got to see the Nascar live, and it's amazing: the stands you can find 200,000 spectators regardless of the importance of the event. Even the Japanese Super GT series is a very interesting and technologically advanced.

What aspects of Gran Turismo will improve with the next generation of consoles, beyond the graphics? There is something that has never been possible to do so far and that future hardware will allow?
I still can not go into details, but it was hard to develop on PS3: you do not have enough memory to do whatever you want. Our goal has always been to preserve the feeling of Gran Turismo, but with the last chapter we faced limitations. With the PlayStation 4 we have much more memory: we can exploit it easily, inserting elements that we had to force or hold on PS3. There will be more graphics, more physical, more AI, more online.

We talk about the GT Academy: Jann Mardenborough, one of the winners of the previous editions, is competing in GP3 and one day might go in Formula 1: What do you think?
From the beginning I thought that a winner of the GT Academy would be able to become a Formula 1 driver, but it is not so simple. In any case, not only the result matters: it is amazing to see these young people who play their chance to reach higher levels. These people have the power to change things, to make a mark.

What will be the most important and distinctive feature of Gran Turismo 7?
(Laughs) I can not answer yet, we are planning big updates for GT6 to be launched soon. 7 GT, of course, is a title faithful to the spirit of the series.

Vision Gran Turismo is almost a game within a game, a "showcase" for special and one-off designed by the same Case, a powerful tool for innovation and in part also a way to develop new cars. GT 7 will have the same approach?
The response of the Houses in Vision Gran Turismo has surprised even me. The builders are excited to work on this front and I am convinced that the project will continue with the same momentum. As with the pilots of the GT Academy, the flourishing of new ideas is always an incredible event.

Many fans continue to demand a management system for damage and realistic detail: GT 7 will change anything?
The damages are part of the physics of the game. In the future, we will continue to work to definitely improve the system. D.C."

Well, PD was probably one of the main developers that have been consulted before developing the PS4 hardware. I bet that these 8GB GDDR5 will have an awesome use in their hands.

Excluding the usual "standards" discussion, I have faith that we may have another GT3 moment once again with GT7.

But I still have hopes upon those big updates. It was the same with GT5. It took long but they delivered a lot of improvements.

I agree, it's pretty obvious from that article that PD have features ready to go for GT7 on PS4 that they just can't fit onto PS3/GT6. We all remember the videos of damage on the GT5 in-store demos that never made it to the final game, I'm sure the same goes for AI, customisation, and even Standard cars. I mean, why do they bother using standard car models in cases where they've already developed a premium version of the same body type? There must be some method to the madness. As much as I want GT6 to get the features it needs to make it a complete game, you can't help but question why all this effort is being put into cramming them onto a system that just doesn't seem to be able to support the vision of its creator. Time will tell, hopefully we'll hear more from Kaz at Pebble Beach or Gamescom (wherever he'll be).

Then sometime this month we'll get the Subaru VGT and maybe the Alfa to stick to it. But as I've admitted, I think too deeply into things.

What I liked in the interview is that Kaz indicate clearly that Gran Turismo 6 is his priority, today.

To be honest, I didn't really want to think about Gran Turismo 7 because there are still updates for Gran Turismo 6

They will keep their promises, I believe in them so... One thing at a time.

But it's clear, PoDi has fun with PS4 !
