No, not neccesarily, PD just doesn't bother to get the license, just like Johnnypenso said.
Oh could I change my prediction for Zahara again. I'm starting to think that it will be released alongside the Toyota VGT. Yes this might sound insane but does anyone remember the video of the Toyota FT-1 driving around what looks to be Zahara. The two could be releated somehow...
That's not actually what JP said. He meant PD could separate the track from the Top Gear licence in the way that the Cote D'Azure track is separated from the Monaco street circuit licence.

I'm not sure how they could do that, i.e. how little they could change and get away with it, but it might have been possible (in a future update, maybe).

Oh ok, my bad, I thought he was talking about unlicensed tracks in general not the Top Gear license in an unlicensed way. (If that makes sense)

It wasn't your point, and that wasn't it.

Just because they've never done it before, doesn't mean it's not possible now. There's a 1st time for everything. And again, I'm simply suggesting more of an Uncharted 4'esq teaser than the type of full blown reveal some are implicating. You're right however. After some thought, I realized Sony likely wouldn't want to steal any thunder away from Drive Club, which a GT7 teaser/reveal would undoubtedly do. I was just fantasizing with the idea is all. I still hope some official details and announcements are revealed & made soon.

It would seem weird that after going from an E3 reveal to a private event they suddenly just reveal their game at Gamescom.

Adding to this, I don't think they'd release GT7 just a year after GT6 too.

Especially considering the amount of detail PD puts I to a game. They're not gonna just have a platform ready for a new system in the first year. They are going to take their sweet PD time on it and it be a couple of years.

I like the idea that was perposed earlier that update 1.11 contains the unlock code for the Zahara and Alfa Romeo content. It seems weird that PD wouldn't call an update with a couple bug fixes something like 1.10.1 because that's what they normally would do. I think they put the unlock code in so they can release them like they did for the new Goodwood course. I bet they will make a presentation at Gamescom with the new content and have it unlocked for us right there on the spot, so that after making the presentation they can end by saying "go play".

Why am I so difficult to understand?

Reveal =/= Release...

They do small in-game feature presentations at events like Gamescom, E3, etc. They wouldn't hold a big, exclusive, GT only event, only to show a teaser trailer of GT7. And a reveal doesn't mean it will release this year either. Uncharted 4 is a prime example. Teaser, then 2015 at the end. It would simply be the beginning of consumer awareness for GT7. Nothing more.

Of course it'll be a port. They'll take existing algorithms and make them work on the new instruction set.

The game still needs to do the same things! I think the hope is they'll add new functionality at the same time, which is pretty much guaranteed.

I didn't knew this counted as a port. I knew ports as simply copy>paste>make it work and adjust. Like releasing a GT6 PS4 edition. What rockstar will make with GTA V its what I see as a port. :)

I think GT7 will be a GT6: PS4 Edition. Man the rage that will form. :sly:

The thing is "port" is a usually derogatory word, as used by the general public.
It's just Latin for "carry", as I'm sure you know. ;)

Every port in the history of software development has required new work, new invention. Just how much may not be apparent to the end-user, and in many cases that's the idea; additionally, you can port parts or whole projects, just the same. As far as PD migrating their existing systems in the game series over to PS4 is concerned, that's still porting, even if those systems get used in a different whole containing entirely new (to us) parts.

If they really were going to take GT6 and put it on PS4 as-is (which would be utterly pointless given PD's development style), then they'd call it GT6. This idea was talked about a bit a while ago, Kaz even mentioned it. I don't think they're going to do that now.

The reality is that they have had algorithms and systems that they couldn't put onto PS3, at least not all of them at the same time, so these will be let loose on PS4 (which they will have been playing with for some time already). It's that flippant comment about GT6 not being complete that I'm looking at from the other direction. :)

Yes, I agree. I only say and think that because the standard cars may possibly be brought over.
Now Toko, you know how much I support PD but bringing a PS2 quality car over to the most powerful console yet, the PS4, is terrible decision. I'd prefer that they model the exterior to a premium quality and keep the blacked-out interior. But anyway, let's get back on track. Zahara, who thinks that this track's scenery will be modelled to a top-notch quality? (So no cardboard looking trees, for instance)

I would agree with you, but GT does have that title "The Real Driving Simulator"; meaning you're experiencing how it's like to drive a real car, even inside its interior. ;)

So yeah, let's back on track indeed. ^v^

I'm sorry to "rally" again, but it's pretty much confirmed to be a port...

"We actually do have a PlayStation 4 version in mind," said Yamauchi, "but for this holiday season, we thought it would be best for users to release on PS3 for now.”

Yamauchi added that, thanks to the new, flexible engine of Gran Turismo 6, the PS3 version could in fact become the PS4 version one day.

"I thought the best scenario would be to have the game come out, then to have new scenarios, new DLC and other updates.

"Once the players have thoroughly played out the system, if the PlayStation 4 version came out naturally, as part of that process, I think that would be the best scenario."

"There's a distinct possibility it would be called Gran Turismo 7 by then, Yamauchi said, adding that he doesn't know if the "vision" of Gran Turismo 6 would carry over to this hypothetical GT7".

These quotes are from last year, so when he says he doesn't know if the "vision" of GT6 will carry over to GT7, we can now conclude that he was hinting at/referring to the "yet to be announced at that time" Vision Gran Turismo (VGT) Project. Honestly, I believe GT6 is pretty much a dumbed down GT7 already that the PS3 just can't fully handle. Thus all the delays and bugs. I'm also starting to think it will soon arrive that the fully functioning course maker will be on GT7/PS4 and something less will be given to us for GT6.

But, yeah... Sorry... Umm... Back on track?

Not sure. On a track longer than the Nurburgring, you have to start considering performance. More 3D objects = more polygons = more lighting data to work out = worse framerate, so some corners in trackside detail have to be cut.

Sometimes when I think back to the initial reveal of this track and how it has been handled and never officially spoken of by Kaz himself. I start to think that maybe it was a leak of something planned for GT7, that another department slipped up and announced for GT6. Hard to imagine the amount of system crashes and the lot to look forward to when trying to load this track online with our PS3's. Even more difficult to fathom the load times for these massive track editor locations planned.

That would be a MASSIVE slip-up. If that were the case, I'm sure PD would have apologized for the confusion. Besides, files related to Circuito de la Sierra were included in 1.09, so I'm pretty positive it's going to hit this month.

I wish it'll hit this month but there is a part of me that says it will come along with the Toyota VGT, mainly due to that video of the FT-1 driving on Zahara, even though it is the FT-1, I can see PD releasing the Race-spec FT-1 with Zahara.
