Common sense needs some kind of reason behind it. You haven't shared any reason for your scepticism (other than "of course not" / "you must be joking" / "common sense" etc.)

What you're calling "blind enthusiasm" on the other hand is in fact backed up by hard facts. Is it speculation? Yes. Is it speculation without any substance? No. You need to learn how to differentiate between the two.

And no, the reason why I'm having this discussion with you is not because I'm super hyped about Zahara de la Sierra or the course maker, the reason is that you misunderstood my first post and then attributed a lot of false statements to me which I had to correct.

Are you done? Are you sure?

The simple FACT there is no concrete evidence to connect the dots is the point. Don't connect dots without facts to connect them. IF is infinite, IF they did this if they do that blah blah blah.....

I might of miss took your post, or was snappy in a reply, apologies, but seriously are you going to keep fussing over BS? Move on already.

There's plenty of evidence. It's not conclusive, but I never claimed that it was so I'm not really sure what your problem is. You're free to move on whenever you want to, I'm not stopping you.

Eran I'm done with that... If you want to keep talking to yourself by all means continue.

So TorqueWrench, racing a 5 or 10 race championship with a points system to see who comes out on top isnt your cup of tea ?
Fair enough mate, its only the biggest foundation of which the motor sports world is built apon.
Online championships would do alot better for GT6 than 1 track.

It would be alright for those into that stuff, but GT6 is a driving game, not a Racing Sim so I and many don't play GT for that. I think online already has issues to iron out, once that's done, bring on more online features.

I think & due to board traffic and topics getting bumped I feel the majority are more concerned with new tracks, cars, CM and GPS TC. Plus it looks like match maker may be on the way too, the championships online feature is beneath them all on MY priority list. .

For what it's worth, the evidence indicates to me that Sierra Time Rally is a pre-made course creator track, too.

  • Somebody mentioned the pop-in seen in the videos. This was prolific in GT5's course-creator locations (to cover worst-case scenarios). It actually looks improved to me, but its presence indicates the kind of compromise that "creative uncertainty" (i.e. where stuff is actually going to be) brings.
  • Most of the tracks in the game use the "tunnel" construction method (pop-in inherently minimal if LoD is used); this clearly does not because of the expansive area.
  • The course creator areas are supposed to be huge; so is this.
  • Pictures of Ronda were shown when the course creator was discussed last June, (although they called it "Andulcia") and we are supposed to be able to pick our own routes through the area based on existing (real) roads that PD have modeled (they visibly go out into the distance). Ronda is only used as a photo mode location at present - why?
  • In addition, the algorithm is said to have been improved. That would seem to be at odds with "Pick from pre-existing roads", so the chance is that we're getting both.
  • The GPS feature will effectively just provide a spline for the track geometry generator to follow, instead of one being generated by the algorithm; using "pre-existing", pre-modeled roads is a different affair altogether. I don't understand why people needlessly complicate this point - GPS would be a simple addition (excluding the processing of GPS data into a "spline") to GT5's course maker, for instance.
  • The previous course creator had fixed terrain, two or three for each theme; this would be no different in practice.
  • The curvature of the corners seen in recent videos screams course-maker, as do the camera angles and sparse scenery.
There are probably other, more subtle things, but taking a pragmatic view, and one even moderately influenced by game development (or just software development) practices, it's clear that it's really not so far fetched that Zahara / Sierra / Andalusía is quite possibly just a fancy new backdrop for the course maker, either in its "algorithm / GPS" (à la GT5) mode, or its "pick your own route" mode. :)

EDIT: I don't mean to say that with Sierra Time Rally we will get the course creator. Kaz said long ago the user interface is holding things up, which is to be expected, especially in the "pick your own" case.

Some good points. I could see these as CM locations, I don't buy they mapped Sierra/Zahara using the said to be coming to the game GPS feature (as to what kicked all of this off). Nurb if I'm not mistaken is not a "tunnel" track and has a lot of off track detail so new tracks not being tunnel tracks doesn't surprise me, and in itself is no connection.

Also the rocky edges that run alongside the track look rather 'cosmetic', they drop down on the opposite side instead of looking like the earth was excavated out for the road to run along. And even if that's debatable, you can go to some of these places on Street View and see there was no rocky edge in real life.

I seriously think if the GPS feature ever comes out it'll be limited to people in Andalusia, and any other locations they specifically build for it, so I'm not sure it's something I'd ever get to use anyway.

To be fair, if GTP members didn't spend their time using invisible lines to connect non-existent dots...........well, this board would be rather dead. It's kinda what we do around here as we stir ourselves into a frenzy while waiting in the vacuum created by PD's lack of communication. Put a man in a plain room with no windows or tv or any hint of the outside world and eventually he will go crazy (some of us just jump onboard the crazy train more willingly than others).

(full disclosure: my panties aren't in a bunch as today is panty-free-monday at my work)

I've got a stack of PS4 games and a PS4 on its way at midnight tonight and I'm sitting here getting hyped over a track that I don't know anything about beyond some videos from the nico-nico site. I don't know when it's coming/if it's coming/when I can play on it and I'm still hyped. Kaz please.. :(

I have to say I never used to believe the idea it was a course maker track but since the newer videos I can see it being representative of one. That might not mean you can create a duplicate of it (could you replicate default Toscana?), but the lake region might be included in the CM area.
