That's PD for you!
Sad how this last update seems to have ruined more than it fixed :(

So far i only know of the ZR-1 and the FTO Super touring car sounding better (my opinion), the rest of the cars on the list sound worse now no?

From what I can hear the Peugeot 205 Turbo 16 Evolution 2 Rally Car now has a new sound as well. Before it sounded like the farting sound plenty of cars can get, but now it gets a similar sound to the CT230R and the FTO STCs old sound...

EDIT: Ford RS200 Rally Car has gotten a sound change too. Previously a similar sound to the 205 above I think but now sounds kinda like the Wedssport Celica's new sound/C-West Razo Silvia of GT4.

Anyone can confirm this?

I played on Friday, (yes, yes, I know, 5 days ago.) and I can most definatly confirm that their is a new sound on the Camaro RM and it is awesome!

I wouldn't say awesome, but definitely an improvement from what we previously had... Sounds like the car has busted headers!

The Nissan Skyline GT-R (Pace) sounds different now, at least with a racing exhaust. Not sure how to explain it, but it definitely sounds different; more realistic. Still doesn't sound nice though. :ouch:

The early ones were chain driven, it took a while for them to make the full transition from bikes to cars I guess. ;)

Yeah, it was still about that time. Interestingly, Honda had a penchant for individual, gradually tapered exhausts per cylinder, borne from single and twin cylinder engine development. When they started making three, five, and six cylinder race bikes, they kept the individual pipe layout for convenience; stick to what you know, and have to hand!
Even their first V12 had individual pipes! But they soon stopped that, and I guess this 2x 2-into-1 setup is sort of a transition between the individual pipe set-up, and the merged pipes you normally see today (i.e. 4-into-1 etc.)

Another aside: slightly enlarged (to 1000cc) S800 RSC engines were used in the works Brabham BT18s to dominate the 1966 F2 championship, too. They were also twin exhaust, naturally, and plastered in magnesium-alloy parts. For comparison: (and the same engine with a single exhaust, here.)

Sounds better than the S800, in my opinion; PD, put that sound in instead! :P

Another one: Renault 5 Maxi Turbo Rally Car. Now shares a sound byte identical to that of the 205 Turbo 16 Evo 2 (ie CT230R style). Doesn't change how terrible it is to drive but still.

Anyone reckon the Lancia Delta S4 could have had a sound update along with the other Group Bs?

I wouldnt hold my poop.

Rally cars are extremely hard to nail, soundwise, they are pretty complex.

Ferrari 430 Scuderia sounds now like it has a supercharger..
Definitely not very ferrari.

And skyline R34 spec II Nür with Racing Exhaust in idle sound like wankel (Mazda 787 and those FD3S)

From what I can tell, another car with a sound change is the Nismo Fairlady Z Z-tune '03. Before I believe it had a Mine's Skyline style sound, now it's more of an R10 TDI or Minolta 88C-V sound.

And the understatement of the year award goes to...

Seriously, it's amazing.

wow thanks guys. Now I'm going to drive that thing. You mean the untuned version right? Just stock?

I don't drive that car as much as I should anyways, same with the ACR.

Oh wow nice list of cars with improvements. I am hoping the next game makes strides in this area. I noticed my back speakers are working better.

I know the rear speaker thing bothered alot of people, but I'm sure cars that had exhausts on the left played the sound from the leftside, but now the sound is equally from both of my rear speakers.....hmmm.

Also the mix between the front and rear is worse now, the front centre is too quiet compared to before.

Other than that the cars that have had a sound change do sound equally as good if not better than before! 👍

After some testing at the Nurburgring 4 Hour, I found the Amuse S2000 GT1 Turbo now appears to have the Caterham's engine sound as opposed to what it had before.

Not sure anyone has meationed this but the Lexus LFA (no mods) is very quiet now. I have 5.1 at default settings and its nearly silent.

Okay, I finally drove the IS-F DTM and I have an opinion a lot of you won't like.
While it doesn't sound as brutal anymore, it definitely sounds a lot closer to the real Opel Vectra DTM it's based on. So the sound change most guys here hate, was absolutely correct.

Sorry for bringing this thread back to life, but I just did a race modification of the Golf IV GTI and it sounds like a beast, especially at idle. Was it like that from the start or did it get a sound update as well?

some sounds are definitely better, but there isnt a single car that really wows me in this game. So many of them have that "tearing" sound to them, and just weak in general. The gear changes are also way too smooth, its like the rpm just jumps. Ill admit im no expert of car sounds, but watching videos on cars or hearing them in real life sounds nothing like gt5. I frowned yesterday when I was driving an aventador on the ring and my little sister passed by and said it sounds like the dentist.

Some sound like they are nearly there, but they need a little more oomph. I don't know what the exact term is, but it sounds like they are all missing this certain layer of sound, that makes them sound tinny.
