Wow post a bit of info and get a sarcastic comment for your trouble, must remember to not bother in the future (takes dave_sz off the Christmas card list).

Seriously whats the problem exactly? Because I was under the impression that another source seeming to confirm this might be interesting to members on a GT forum.

Scaff

Scaff come on, "Forum Ninja" is an awesome title, adopt it! Next thing you know other guys get titled "Thread Gurkha", "Topic Marine" or even "Board Ranger"

Back to seriousness, I really, REALLY wish that comes from a different source, not because of karting (like it) but because of the track editor (love it, and btw you are one of the challenged to recreate lowenseering :sly: )

Maybe they are thinking about the karts at their local family fun-time center, which the karts in GT5 most certainly will not be.

I hope the karts are "premium" with damage and cockpit views.

What cockpit?:sly:

I don't see how they could not have one has they are not enclosed. You can't model the kart without modeling the seat and wheel and everything else.

I don't know about most of you, but as long as kart racing is done right in GT5(it will be). Racing is racing and I'll be stoked it is in the game.

There's a big difference in A 125cc Shifter Kart and your Oreilly Auto Parts Store gokart..

For all those Non-believers in Karts, and skeptical out there...

If there is any proof that Karting is regarded very seriously by people in the racing business, all you have to do is look at Ferrari, and what they have announced.

Taken a 11-year-old boy (not just randomly any), but one who has proven himself on the track on-board of those machine,
then put him into a program to further his skills, making him potentially the next Shumi of the 2020.

Lewis Hamilton anyone??? Quite surprised I've not seen anybody mention him sooner?

I just remember a south American f1 pilot called Montoya,he starts his career on pro karting and then indy car, good driver but stupid, now is driving left turns for four hours in nascar.

Yeah and the vast majority of other F1 drivers are raised on karting throughout childhood. It's hard to think of a champion who wasn't. I own a 100cc Birel and it's an amazing form of motorsport, but I'm not sure how right GT5 will get it.

because he doesn't have a kart game

3 well known faces in one pic = win

I was pointing out the similarities between this Ferrari kid and Lewis, Mclaren mentored him and guided his career from a young age. Most if not all the current crop of F1 drivers started out in karting.

I can understand the addition of karting not being to everyones liking, I'm not a fan of drifting, probably more to do with a lack of talent if I'm honest. then theres nascar, again not something high on my wishlist but a nice addition nonetheless. If we're getting a proper career style mode rather than the relatively 'free for all' GT mode from previous games then karting is a perfect addition IMO, (one I'd never thought about until this news).

You can please some of the people some of the time and all that. :)

As long as the force feedback doesn't get cranked up to karting levels, my poor little arms will never cope with numbers of hours of GT'ing I have planned... not without me turning into Pako!!! :scared:

 Dang! it's true... Everytime i drove one of those, my forearms just stiffen up and i cant even hold an ice-cream afterward. :P

What a dream!

In fact, he is so good that he has beat everyone at the in-house internal kart competition...

Link here to the Autoblog article.

The title says it all:

👍

Agree with "MadduckUK"

Kart-O-Mania!!! What was his lap time???

What a dream to get picked up at 11 to become a Ferrari driver 👍.

I'm not hyped about either of these features (except for karting which would be an excellent addition to GT). In fact I am really pulling AGAINST them being in GT5. Heres why

A track editor may work for simple fantasy ovals, and some fantasy tracks. Theres no way a PS3 user can recreate a real life track with accuracy using a DS3. Even with professional tools a PS3 user would have problems doing it without proper photographs, scanning etc.

But what really makes me hate the track editor is the fact its going to flood GT5 with fake tracks.

Gran Turismo is to me about authenticity. Yes, there is the odd fantasy track here in there thats fun to race on, but when the fantasy tracks outnumber the real tracks thats a problem. Yes, GT1 if I remember correctly was all fantasy tracks but things have changed.

I dont want to go online and find 80% of the lobbies/rooms whatever are using some fake low quality fantasy track created by some PS3 user.

Now, as for weather I dont like it. Because I KNOW it will mean 8 car fields for races like Le Mans that have day/night and weather. I'll happily take 16 car fields and day/night without weather. To me to slash the field in half for a feature that happens maybe 5% in real life just isn't worth it. After a while the little drops on your windshield are going to get old and your going to miss those 8 extra cars. If they can somehow do it all with 16 car fields go for it, but I doubt it

Well, you do realize that no one is going to force you to touch a single created track, just like no one has to drive the Standard Cars. Problem solved. 👍

Of course, we still don't know for absolutely, positively, certainly sure that the Track Creator is in, but I'm hoping with as much fervor as I am for Race Mod and the Livery Editor.

This is true. Kaz's tweets today called it "missinformation" and "rumors" So, it may or may not make it in. There's really no way of telling for sure until it's revealed by PD themselves.

Maybe my fear is unfounded. I just dont want to have to race a new (probably low quality) created course every time I race GT online.

I think a karting track editor would be the wisest move. Start off with a large piece of asphalt, and you get a selection of rumble strips and tire barriers to mark out the course along with the ability to lay grass down. Some simple grandstands as well with a pitlane.

This would keep things simple and the possibilities would be endless. I just dont think a full scale track editor can work this day and age. I just dont see how the quality will match the PD tracks. If this were some arcadey game like Mod Nation Racers it would work but I just dont see it working with GT5.

GRID had one on their DS "GRID Create and Race" It was pretty simple and you couldn't cross the track (which sucks), but it worked.

If there's a track creator, we'll probably be able to create some interesting tracks, but don't expect to see many accurate recreations of real tracks. There might be some decent attempts, but they'll still be nowhere near as accurate as what Polyphony gives us.

The other day I drove around London in GT5P, looking at all the buildings. The attention to detail still blows me away... it's just insane.

well .... it is the real driving simulator

and you do DRIVE go-karts.... so it all makes sense

plus im in go-karting as we speak!
(only fifteen no money for suuped up hondas and track days yet)
so this game will full fill all my racing needs!!!

I hope to god by "Throwing cars around stunt arenas", they don't mean a demolition derby...

actually demolition derbys online would be a great idea because it would seperate the crashers from the hard core racers!!!!! loss of money because of stupid doods little brother keeps crashing into you???? not anymore !!!! problem solved

Scaff

I wasn't being sarcastic. I was in a good mood and figured I should give someone a boost in morale or at least make them smirk.
Sorry that you took it the wrong way.

I really was totally unsure about the "stunt arena" thing... but looking at it this way might be the right idea. It is so annoying getting nothing but people who immediately turn into you and ram people as soon as the race starts, or simply turn around and drive backwards into all the oncoming racers... While I think separating them into an area where they can be idiots with other idiots is great, it still probably won't get rid of all of them.:yuck:

Don't you think guys that track editor will be something only for kart races? You build up a track with tire walls on the training course with the turns you want, then let's go karting! Just a thought.

I been thinking the same it will be something like autocross, not a super realistic track editor, don't get your hopes high because the fall will be greater :scared:

It's worked for the most part with Forza 3 which has their Playground area. Granted, there are still people who drive backwards, but I believe it occurs a lot less than it did in FM2

When I read "Megaton leak" I immediately thought of this.

But leaving post-apocalyptic RPGs for now, karting has every right to be in GT5. Though I don't see how it would work properly! Then again, it's probably similar to the Benz carriages in GT4...

If the track editor gives us Gymkhana-style options, karts are the perfect tool for the job! Not to mention they're a ridiculous amount of fun anyway...

And STILL we have crybabies making everything worse. I personally couldn't care less about skidmarks. I mean, REALLY? you're crying over something as small as skidmarks? and what's wrong with reverse lights? Too real for you? sounds like you should be playing Forza.

So your saying reverse lights are more important than skidmarks? They might be if your the kind of driver that spends most of his time finding his way back to the track.

Skidmarks are an integral part of any driving/racing sim. They were in racing games 10-15 yrs ago so why can`t they be in GT5 in 2010?

PD prides it`self on having stunning visual`s and superior graphics detail and claims to be the real driving simulator yet a important part of both the driving experiance and the(mainly) visual experiance is missing.

We get realistic tyre squeal sound and smoke visuals but no marks??
They are all linked! It`s like having a cake with candles that are unlit but your trying to tell me to blow them out and it`s not important to have them lit??

Like Squeal,Smoke and Marks the cake, candles and flame are all linked, one without the other is just not right!

Everycar is capable of producing skidmarks to some degree, but not every car has reverse lights, does NASCAR run reverse lights or how about Le-Mans cars? No they don`t, but they are all capable of squeal, smoke and skidmarks!

It`s good that reverse lights are in the game but i`d drop them in a heartbeat for skidmarks. It`s like the car in your avatar,it`s doing a burnout it has squeal, smoke and i bet once the smoke clears it two nasty black lines snaking down the road. If you told the owner his car didn`t leave skidmarks but his reverse lights look lovely, you`d be wearing a sidchrome necklace home!

Oh i have have had a quick blast with Forza when it first came out at games shops. I didn`t think it was too bad but GT is decidedly much better,i certainly showed the small crowd that gathered around how to really drive a Z06 :sly:

As for Karts and F1 and NASCAR,they belong in their own game. NASCAR really is only in so PD can flog a few extra squillion copies to the americans(if you build it,they will come....with their wallet`s) and help sony boost PS3 sales. Money talks and america is full of it and sony wants it :dunce:

Because often, the games 10-15 years ago only had temporary skid marks. They'd disappear after a few seconds or a certain distance of skid marks.

Can you imagine if you have 2, 8 or however many we'll have online, drifting tracks together only for their skid marks to be there a second behind them then fade.

Quite frankly I'd rather no skid-marks than badly done skid marks.

I'd have to say skidmarks > reverse lights and horns in my eyes, but I agree, I'd rather something be left out completely than implemented badly.
