The article this topic is about is dated 15/06/10. check that link again, look on the right side of the page: http://uk.playstation.com/ps3/news/articles/detail/item285382/Talking-games-with-Shuhei-Yoshida/
Nothing else to add. :( it isn't a new article.

That means it was written before E3 sony press conference.
Polyphony gave us new details on their website AFTER the E3...
something doesn't correspond, I don't think any of that features are confirmed... hoping for weather, hoping for editor and so.. but I don't think they've been confirmed.

-EDIT-
No one read it! That's what we can read on that website:

For people cracking on go-karts... you obviously know little of racing. 95% of professional racers started their careers as kids behind the wheel of karts. If you've never had the pleasure... find a weekend to hit a track in a real kart... its a hell of thing doing 60 miles per hour with your ass 2 inches off the tarmac.

This news is EPIC!!!

That's right. And I can't believe people still aren't happy. We're getting go-karts, so what? I think it's awesome, the more features the better. I don't understand it...

To be fair, in KY's twitter messages a day after E3, he said weather is a "maybe". I am guessing he didn't want to blow the load early.

What kind of bomb is KY going to throw at us at Gamescom if we already found out the major features?

whether that is taking on the Top Gear test track, chucking cars around stunt arenas, go-karting, creating and sharing your own track or intense head-to-head races

Wheather on Top Gear track? and other tracks? i hope so (not like preveous GT game, where onl one or two tracks had wet conditions.

Stunt arena? WTF?...

Go-karts? nice but i like 1000 cockpit views a little bit more

own track editor? Possible but only for go kart circuits..?

I am thinking the undisclosed feature= track editor.

Now we just need gameplay footage of weather, customization at Gamescom.

Guys Shuhei Yoshida is EXECUTIVE PRODUCER for the Gran Turismo franchise. Unless Kazunori Yamauchi confirms this himself or says different than Shuhei, I don't think we can possibly get more confirmed that this. If he has given false information I will be VERY surprised. Especially since he is so closely tied to this series.

Having a track editor would surely make it clear why the number of tracks has ever officially been anything other than 'locations'.

The stunt arena could be like a "top gear" section of the game. Where you must complete certain stunts or "fun races" against the stig or a boat/plane (like that race to go from one end of the track to the other and back vs the jet.

Don't get ahead of yourself lol. Small steps at a time.

I am really intrigued as to how a track editor would work, does anyone have any examples apart from mod-nation racers lol.

I believe karting will make an appearance in GT5 just because it's been a part of GT Academy. It's one of the best way to learn the handling and feel of a car and would fit tremendously into GT's training/license mode.

Do you guys think it could possible be a mistake, and what if it was, what then? You think the interior view issue was big...my god...

Lot of blind people here!

I know, me and you want these features so much... but the fantastic "new" article, is actually OLD

Well I think we were definitely not blind during the last days... many of us were desperately looking for any piece of news. I don't think we could miss that, I think the publish date is not correct.
And if it is correct it is not telling us that it is not true.
It was no declared at the E3 that's all. I think it is very probably true.

It may be a good guess. I still don't understand why they talk about variations and not tracks though.
EDIT: Sorry for double post ( I am too excited... better go home)

20+ locations
70+ variations

How many maps will there actually be? I mean if they have spent all their time on 1000 cars, it doesn’t’ amount to anything if you only have a handful of tracks to use them on…

More than 40 tracks with over 100 layouts (including all versions of Nurburgring – which nobody’s ever done before). That enough for you? :)

This is crazy this is some stuff I really wasn't expecting. I can almost believe that my dream for gran turismo can come true. Please allow us to drive on city streets with civilian vehicles. That would be the greatest thing ever speeding through the city with a sim like this.

Think you have gone too far. This isn't Test Drive or Need for Speed in Simulation mode.
