Mercedes teases "Vision GT concept"

The side-view of the Mercedes GT Vision car reminds me an awful lot like a stretched Corvette ZR1 (with gigantic wheels

Looks like there may be two variations of this concept. One with the fixed wing may be a fantasy race car like the GT by Citroen?

Right now I can only think of two things coming from Mercedes for "Vision GT":
- Its rumored for a long time that a SLR AMG is in works. I could imagine this car being a some kind of SLR concept car. Its design reminds me of recent concept cars, like the CLA .
- Porsches/Ferraris/McLarens new halo cars come with crazy hybrid tech. Maybe Mercedes wants to show some advanced new e drive concept (or maybe F-Cell? Dont know if they dropped this project) because right now, they are loosing alot of mindshare to BMW (i3) and Audi (R18 e-tron), which are seen as more futuristic/innovative brands currently. Im quite sure the SLR will be a hybrid too or it will look to outdated to the LaFerrari/P1. As far as I know, cars like the SLS/SLR are mainly used for marketing purposes, I can't see MB developing a NA V8/V12 beast in this age. It would sell the same, but media would punish them.

Mercedes have to tap customers in the hot hatch category with the A45 before they can offer electric drive. I saw a base A180?(it wasnt the AMG). I know AMG here in Australia sell more than the base models.

Johnnypenso, the resemblance with the 911 shape is uncanny. The car fit right there with few modifications.

I surely hope that PD was smart enough to avoid making any Vision Gran Turismo cars with electric motors. Nothing is more boring than driving something that sounds like nothing!! Internal combustion FTW!
