I know, right? :) Once I get through MGS4, GTA4, and CoD4, I'll pick up Warhawk again. I'm having serious withdrawals. Unfortunately, I believe all the ranking information is in the save file, I'll have to start over again.
Is it? I assumed that it was stored online, because you could check the rankings and stats of your Friends even when they weren't online.

It's funny that you guys are getting these warnings.
Just the other day I started play MGS: The Twin Snakes without a memory card and so just before I finished the first disc the game sent me a message "Snake, you haven't saved your game in a long time, do you wish to save?"
All I could think was "of course I do but I don't have a memory card!"

I'm glad to see the people doing MGS are just as nutty as they've always been. :D

Btw, how are the controls this time around?
I mean, is there still a first person shooting option and can you move the character while in that FPS view?
Also, does the PS3 controller work well with the controls?
Thanks!
You can walk around, change stance and a couple of other things while in first person view as long as you have a weapon equipped and draw be it the knife, a grenade type weapon, playboy magazine (which you can read) or a gun.

I'm not that far in, I played a bit last night and I was playing today but stopped for the football matches and I had a friend round. I've not met up with Rat Patrol yet but I think I'm close. There's a bit of a bargy going on in the street with a trench blown out at a cross roads and malition on one side and the PMC on the other. After a short while a helicopter came so I blew it out of the sky with 2 RPG rounds, but a little bit later another came, I only had 2 rounds left so I though I'd improvise and I managed to hit it with the mortar. I was hanging around so I could pick up a fait few guns and what not for a combat shotgun that I spotted in Drebin's shop. but that was definitely a hell yes moment.

Laughing Octopus was really easy for me. All you have to do is scout the area with Mk.II and look for the tentacles when she hides. Then, chuck nades at her until she starts ambushing you and rolling at you. Proceed to shoot with machine gun at that point. I wasn't sure what to do when she came out of her shell though, so I just shot her and killed her and stuff. Has anyone tried tranqing her from that point?

To me this game looks more like an interactive movie instead of a game :)

Uncharted: Drakes Fortune is very much like that... marvelous game, and better than the new Indy Movie too. :)👍

Lol, just got a warning saying:
You started playing the game 7 hours ago, isn't it time you had a break?

Lol
and the game's right. Don't want to finish it to early.

That's a clever feature. 👍

Sooo great. I'm going to play this game multiple times.

Zero alerts is DIFFICULT, lol. The game does a great job explaining past stories and events, this could certainly be picked up by a new comer and partially understood. I'm impressed.

I hope it is. :nervous:

These are two separate things... high score/achievement rankings and current game status.

I'm fairly certain all online high score/achievement rankings for all PS3/PSN games are created at the time they were made and stored on Sony's PSN servers.

Current game status/progression, is part of the game save that is stored in your Saved Data Utility folder.

The good news though is even if you erased Warhawk from your HDD, the game save will still remain in your folder, such that should you ever re-install it and play, it will pick-up exactly where you left off.

Now if you decided for some odd reason to also delete your Warhawk game save, or perhaps deleted by accident, then yes, you would have to start from scratch.

This is why it's useful to make copies of your game saves... just in case. 👍

Did you get the "Laughing Octopus" face mask? If not, that's the special item you get for not killing her.

Just finished the game a few hours ago. Fantastic. Not as sad, but more shocking, than I expected.

I used the Tranquilisers against Laughing Octopus once she was out of her suit. Probably do that for all the bosses.

More photos I made...

Hot!

Wouldn't be a MGS game without micturation.

Ever wonder what tranqing the Rat Patrol Team 1 looks like?

Is this any different from FaceCamo? Do you actually get tentacles and stuff? I guess I'll try not to kill any of the other BnBs.

Anyway, I have a suggestion for this thread: Can we mark all spoiler tags to what act (Liquid Sun, Solid Sun, etc.) they correspond to so that the people who have finished up to a point can discuss without incurring spoilers that they have yet to come across? Thanks.

edit: Also, Otacon is my hero. Naomi Hunter bow chicka bowow. Also, sorry about the spoiler tag. I was rushed while posting and had to leave thereafter. And, one more thing... I think my TV is crushing blacks like crazy in this game. Is there a red/sepia tinge to all the blacks in the main menu graveyard scene? It's really bad for me. The first tree that you see is almost solid red. I can fix my TV to get accurate blacks, but the contrast is so low that nothing else is visible.

Sorry, I had to close my eyes, and skip the photos... SPOILER!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Maybe Post links for them...
:P

Anywyas,

Guys When is the GUN METAL PS3 with MGS4 coming out in the United States?
When I was at the Midnight party opening thingy all they had was the BLACK PS3 with game inside, But I want to get the GUN METAL one. And what kind of MGS4 game copy comes with it? The special edition or normal edition? And how much would it cost?
I allready own PS3 and MGS4 Limited edition, but I collect MGS toys (unopened) and would like to buy that PS3 MGS4 edition and never open it, and re sell it in 20 years for 40th anniversary , or 50th ;)
So when are the Gun metal PS3s coming to US?

They've come and gone, my friend. They were on sale directly from Konami, they will never hit stores. The only place, as far as I know, that they could be purchased, was Konami's website.

LMAO @ Psycho Mantis's cameo. "What!? NO VIBRATION EITHER?!"

edit: Okay, I just finished the game and I have to say that this is the best game on PS3. One of the best ever. I haven't enjoyed a game so much in a very long time, and the story is just incredible.

I'm part way through act 3 and wow, I havent spent this much time on a game in one session for years, literally. The game is amazing and the story is really picking up.

EDIT: Act 3 finished and it's time to put the pad down and go to bed. This game has taken up the largest portion of my day, I've got loads of things to do but I've been so absorbed by this. I guess the chances are I'll be completing it for the first play through tomorrow.

There are 5 acts.

I just finished it as well. Amazing game... particularly an action scene towards the end of Act 3. The story definitely got quite complicated, probably more so since I don't really remember much from other MG games.

Ending was interesting though...

And getting all the in-game achievements are going to be bloody hard - I don't think I'll be that dedicated.

Although I have a general question:

What exactly was the noise that frequently appeared that made people with nanomachines in them go crazy whenever they heard it? Was it some frequency Liquid and his team were analysing into or what? Or is it a physical noise? I must have missed this somewhere in the story.

I've decided to ignore 0 kills and 0 alerts. It's just too damn difficult. Even on the easiest level!

I guess buying the bandanna and stealth camo is the option for me. First time for a MGS game I didn't 'earn' them. Oh well. At least I'll have them.

Act 5 spoiler:
I don't know how he can tell, especially if Vibration is still turned on in the menu. Although I suppose the DS3 is probably sending a different type of signal to the system than the Sixaxis does. But in any event, my scenario was different, since I'm using a DS3: "YEESSS!! Vibration is BACK!!!"

For me, the meaning of the phrase "epic" can be found in Act 4:
First, the approach to the heliport. The music, the flashbacks... I even went so far as to put on the Young Snake face camo and shook off the Octocamo while I was walking around outside. Felt like I was playing a remake of MGS! And everything about the level just screamed with nostalgia.

And the end battle of Act 4... no words can describe how ****ing EPIC that fight was. The first time in the entire MG series where we finally get to drive a Metal Gear, and it's everything I ever wanted it to be. The Gekkos go from being exceptionally dangerous to merely a swarm of buzzing flies, nothing more than an annoyance. They slowed Rex down about as much as grass slows down a lawnmower. And with similar results. And Rex vs Ray? Wow. Just.... wow. Not only do we get to drive a Metal Gear, but in combat against another Metal Gear! I can't describe how fulfilling that was after all this time.

There are more poignant story elements in Act 5, especially toward the end, but I don't think it compares to Act 4 in terms of sheer awesome.

Yes, it was indeed epic. I finished off RAY with the HE Laser. Guys, please tell me I wasn't the only one who screamed SHOOP DA WOOOOP!!! when using it.

Still, I don't know if the Metal Gear battle was better than the final fight. I mean, damn, when I saw those life bars come up I was like, "Aww, this is going to be some Virtua Fighter sh!" Both fights were crazy.

Otacon really is my hero, even after I thought he was getting played by Naomi. When I saw that she went back to Vamp, I was sure it was because of that tongue, yo. Even a super genius woman is still a woman.

edit, about the story in general:

Is it just me or does it seem like Hideo got a lot of inspiration from the Cowboy Bebop movie? It came out in 2001-- the same time as MGS2, so, I don't know. But, the movie deals with nanomachines and the antagonist trying to spread a nanomachine-virus across the world. Maybe this stewed in Hideo's head while scheming the patriots' SOP system.

Act 4/5:
Yeah, that Metal Gear fight was awesome. It was like controlling something in a Mech Warrior game, but better. I just hammered Ray with machine gun bullets since using anything else made it too easy.

The end fight on Act 5 was really odd at first... but is was awesome to play something completely different. They certainly took a lot of hits between them...

Oh, and I loved the split screen moments as well. I may have to watch a video on the internet to see the second fight between Raiden and Vamp again. I saw at the corner of my eye that Raider got stabbed many times again.

Should there be a new thread for MGO? What are all of your gamer IDs? MGO is really pissing me off, though. I think The Boss Extreme mode is easier than MGO.

I'm loving this, I'm part way through Act 4 now.

I'm loving the whole nostalgia of this act, all the flashbacks, the remodelled locations, the whole level so far is just amazing. I'm in Otacons office now and I've just turned some power back on.

Guys, I'm having problems login in my Konami ID, are the servers down?
I'm using my old BETA ID and I made a new PASSWORD and still cant log in the game.. why is that?
