Thanks.

It would've at least been more realistic if Naomi made it back to Otacon and died on him in person.

Or been stomped on by a gekkou :D

Any point in giving militia men rations? I don't get a song or anything else people have said you can get. What a bunch of moochers!

I always managed to have the malitia on 'my side' but theres no way i would give them my ration's

Ever 'hold up' a guy and tried searching his body for items? I haven't done it yet despite trying it about 100 times. I haven't read anybody doing it, either. Have you? What's the trick?
I held up a PMC sniper unintentionally, he was on the roof lying down in the first act. I just pointed a gun at his head and he just cowered on the floor and gave up his weapon. I'm not sure if it is what you would class as a hold up but it seemed near enough.

And what's up with the Codec?
Two contacts? That's it? And one of them is that bitchy Rose! The only good thing about her is watching her boobs bounce around when you fast forward your conversation.

Just some of my gripes about this fantastic game.

I was also disapointed with codec.

Question for something in act 4:
How can you easily defeat those moowing things in the huge vamp battle.
Sometimes i can destroy them with 1 shot by accident, but most of the time i have to fire like 6 rounds from the railgun to take them down.

I kept getting this bit wrong too. if you go into aim mode (L1) and then press triangle for the scope. Wait for a second and it should have powered up so then press R1, aim for the head and it a one shot providing it charged up. There is probably an easier way to charge it up but I find it hard to tell if its charged up or not.

Slowly, but surely, making my way through act 2... feels a lot like MGS3.

Damn, the Colonel is a pimp.

I got it to work, but have no idea how I did it. I did use the costume you start with and I could finally get some really useful items like Playboys, 00Buck Shotgun ammo, RPG-7 ammo, suppressors, and a few iPod songs. One of the songs will make soldiers kneel down and cry when you grab and choke them.

I had 89 rations, and I gave around 20 away. Got some good stuff, though.

No, that's not what I'm talking about. I'm talking about sneaking up to a guy, like you said, and then moving around to face him and push the TRIANGLE button to "Search his body for items." It never works. That's what the manual said to do.

Oh well. I'll figure it out, one of these days.

Not so fast, bub! ;)

Ah right, I suspected I wasn't doing a proper hold up. What you mentioned kinda reminds me of the MGS2 dog tag challenge.

I have a question and will use the spoiler code also 👍

I'm in the Hanger with Rex and Vamp keeps regenerating! how many times do I have to kill this SOB
I have tried every weapon I have and he just keeps coming back to life ... somebody throw me a bone here before I bust a blood vessel .. Thanks in advance.

Equip your syringe (the one that brings back phsyce) then kill him again, once he falls over get rid of your weapon by equiping 'none' from your weapons run over to him and stand behind him. he will stand up dazed for a few seconds. Once he is stood up and you are behind him press R1 to put him in a choke hold. With the syringe equiped in the items menu press triangle while he's in a choke hold and it will inject him. That will end the fight.

Anyone has charts sale numbers for this game? Just wondering. :)

In the first day, it sold over 1.3 million. Second day, or thereafter, I have no clue.

I'm currently having fun with the iPod songs. When you equip certain songs, they do certain things for you. One is to equip the MGS4 Love Theme and put somebody in a choke hold.

Also, enter Drebin's Codec frequency, 14893, in the computer lab. You'll earn 100,000 DP.

I think I'll use the Ipod second time around I play the game.
Just play some MGOnline, and its relaly good. 12+ players is too laggy. 12- is good :)
I was playing 3vs3 no lag, good teamwork :) everyone had a mic, its was just a fun. 16 player is just mayhem and no fun. Wish there could be more 3vs3 and 4vs4 and 5vs5 servers, everyone always puts 16 players, and its always disorder and laggy :(

Anyone from GTplanet will create a server(s) with password? That way we get more respectable players around :)

Well, Im mid act 2, Just had the run in with Laughing octopus. And Im amazed at how many things you can do in the game. How many ways you can approach any given situation. And, is it bad that Ive killed ALOT of guys? I mean, i sneak often, and use my tranquilizer gun, but sometimes, you just cant help holding a guy up, and shooting him in the head with your operator. haha.

And @solidlifters, the very first time i gave the militia a ration, I got an ipod song.

These are two separate things... high score/achievement rankings and current game status.

I'm fairly certain all online high score/achievement rankings for all PS3/PSN games are created at the time they were made and stored on Sony's PSN servers.

Current game status/progression, is part of the game save that is stored in your Saved Data Utility folder.

The good news though is even if you erased Warhawk from your HDD, the game save will still remain in your folder, such that should you ever re-install it and play, it will pick-up exactly where you left off.

Now if you decided for some odd reason to also delete your Warhawk game save, or perhaps deleted by accident, then yes, you would have to start from scratch.

This is why it's useful to make copies of your game saves... just in case. 👍
You may be missing out on two things here.

1) SolidFro had his first PS3 stolen. So, his save file is gone too.

2) Warhawk does not have any kind of traditional progression. Aside from your account info and installed game files I don't know what it should be saving on your HDD. Progression, for lack of a better term, is all about points from kills and wins and whatnot. All it allows is customization of your soldier and aircraft, which is done after logging in online.

I think all the important data in Warhawk is saved on the server as it is all achievement based.

I was able to play this game over the weekend, made it to the start of Act 3. I loved it, Snakes come a long way since Shadow Moses. I badly want to get myself a PS3 now. :D

I also wanted to know peoples views of this game coming to the 360, do you think it will happen?

Not gonna happen. Substance follow-up might make it, but even there there would have to be like a disc per act and then for MGO too.

Also, for people having trouble with the railgun: Listen for the ping sound it makes as it charges through level 2 and 3 while over-the-shoulder. If you view through the scope, the horiztonal crosshair is actually a charge meter, and will grow as the gun charges. You have to charge up to at least level 2 to take out a Gekko in one hit.

If you have any questions about how stuff works, don't forget to ring up Otacon on the codec.

Starting around post #500 there were some lengthy discussions on the possibility, or lack of, regarding MGS4 on the 360, but this pic pretty much sums it up:

MGS4 Confirmed for XBOX360! Picture proof!

DVD, FTW!

mgs4nw5.png

Of course nothing is impossible, and perhaps a significantly lighter version could be made for the 360, and possibly MGO could be made for the 360, but both are very unlikely.

There are also rumors that Microsoft is going to be releasing a new 360 edition, which will come with 65 nm GPUs Xenon CPU chips, as well as an integrated Blu-ray drive (that will hopefully play games as well as movies). After that, the speculation is that they will release yet another version of the 360 with the 45nm Valhalla chip by late 2009.

The bigger speculation is that assuming the Xbox 360 continues to lose market share to the PS3 and sales of the 360 begin to plateau, and assuming Microsoft decides to continue their Xbox endeavors despite the billions they have lost so far, they may release an entirely new console as early as Q4 of 2009 or 2010.

That being said, nothing is impossible, as seeing as Metal Gear Solid (1) is quite possibly going to be available on Xbox Live Arcade, perhaps someday MGS4 will make it onto an Xbox. 👍

I'm on my 3rd playthrough and I just noticed Rose changes her clothes! Different day, different clothes! Now that's realism for you.

Also, move the controller in all directions when talking to her via the Codec. Just try it! :D

Apparently if you drive the MK II into each of the characters while watching the mission briefings you will unlock their camos?

Someone told me today to unlock the Colonel's camo you have to manually watch the 1st Act's mission briefing from the main menu.

Plus, the same friend managed to finish the whole game without any alerts and deaths, Solid Lifters. I went around his house to see the proof. :D Forgot to take a picture though. The real test now is to finish the game exactly the same way but on the extreme difficulty, which doesn't allow rations. He says that will be pretty much impossible to do, but he'll give it a try.

The secret was he used a particular shotgun that knocks people out rather than killing them. He mentioned the Act 2 ride on Drebin's vehicle and the bike ride with EVA were particularly hard, but he used the shotgun on Drebin's vehicle and the tranqulizer on the bike.

So he got a Big Boss badge for that? I know the The Boss badge is on the extreme difficulty.

Good luck with that, though. I tried to play through extreme and I doubt I could get to Drebin without an alert or a kill.

Yeah, that was posted a while back. You can 'click on things' too, like remotes, radios or chickens! Try it! :D

Yep, and bump into him with Mk.II.

Oh, wait for Act IV MISSION BRIEFING to get the camera for some funny pics of Sunny and Naomi.

He must have skipped searching for items from fallen soldiers. Every time I do it, I get caught. I'm too much of a cheap bastard to pass up free items. ;)

Yeah, the 870 Tactical Shotgun with VRING shells kicks major ass. So does the Double Barrel. I like using RR's MGL with stun grenades, too. I'm going for zero kills once I get the Stealth Camo. I have 1,300,000+ DP and need 2,500,000 for it.

Oh, max amount of ammo for harder difficulties is 893. Gee, I wonder why that is? :D For the easy level, it's 9,999.

...

Oh, and I noticed in one of the cutscenes near the beginning of the game there was a part where all the different games in the series appear on the screen, and when MGS4 appeared there were two slots underneath it saying "under construction".

Hint anyone? :D

Yeah, perhaps. It will probably involve Raiden and having to sneak out of the house to go meet mistresses. That, or Metal Gear Colostomy Bag starring Ancient Snake.

Who knows. Maybe It'll be an xbox version and then the substance version. Or there could be portables.

@ Stevisiov.
thanks for the info. Didn't realise the gun needed charging between shots.
It was very easy this way and i could even look at the other side between shooting :)

picked it up and two things

1: the game is amazing and the story itself is much less foggy then some past incarnations (so far, only just beginning act 3)

2: HK has completely lost it!! the cutscenes get a little ridiculous after a while but then when you get bored and skip it you might just find yourself lost story wise... lots and lots and lots of unnecessary dialouge but at least during the act briefings you get to use the mk2

also anyone else notice all the sony and apple placements?

If you need to know a place to earn a lot of DP, it's at the MGS4 South American Confinement Facility, the big building with the barracks and the sniping tower. 12,000DP XM320, 3,000M60, 2,700DP M14, etc. I got over 500,000DP in about two hours.

Funny video.

We love game collaborations. We love it even more when competing companies take playful potshots at the other's product. In this case, Battlefield: Bad Company calls out a certain tactical espionage hero in this new trailer. We guess they're trying to tell us it's time to move on from that 'other game' and switch the fight over unto a new battlefield. Playful humor, or aggressive competition? Whatever the purpose of this trailer was, all we know is that it's pretty funny stuff. Check it out.

From,
Chris.
