You might have to make a whole new one. I'm not sure. All I know is MGO is insanely difficult and tedious. It's ridiculously hard to level up your skills because the people who are already a level above can dominate you easily. Especially for CQC and knifing... it's hard to believe that your character doesn't know how to plunge a knife into someone's neck until he gets to level 3.

That said, it's a lot better when you're on equal footing or at least have better balance against the other players.

I bought this knowing I'd have to fight the controls. At first it was a little hard, but I worked though it and was enjoying the vast detail of this game. What's really pissing me off right now is the Damn map. I get to a point where I feel I'm close and then the target point moves.

Overall I'm glad I got the game to experience it even though I knew I'd have some frustrations.

ACT 4 help please!
I am really struggling to defeat the self destructing gekko's in REX's hanger, advice anyone?

I found out today my brother had trouble with this part and I said were you charging the rail gun up? He was only firing it in bursts. If you charge it up all the way and aim it at the metal head you will kill the gekko in one shot. If you're low on ammo I think you can buy some in Drebin's store.

yep thats exactly what I was doing wrong, I have completed it now, and act 4 also. Bring on the final act!

I just finished the final boss fight for the second playthrough. I can say I enjoyed it better the second time around. The replay value is remarkable. I think I'll playthrough the game four or five more times, at least.

BTW, I'm having trouble finding some of the weapons. Anybody here who can help me with the locations of the...

MP5sd2, .50 Sniping rifle, chaff grenades and Glock 18. I know I can just buy them from Drebin, but I'm trying to find all the weapons on my own. It's very odd you cannot just buy chaff grenades. I only found 5 or six the first time through the game, but none the second time. Weird.

I also need help getting to the top deck of Outer Haven. How do I get up there? I know you can, because I see Frogs up there.

Chaff Grenades:

I'm not 100% sure on this, but I'm sure I picked some up near the beginning of Act 4 in the snow before you go into the building with those black scout things scanning the floor. There's lots of ammo and items on the floor as well.

If it isn't there then they're somewhere near that point, I'm sure

Solid:

Chaff nades are on the helipad of Shadow Moses during the MGS1 dream. You only get two. And, I haven't gotten the Barret 50cal, but I have a good feeling that if you frisk Johnny during the Screaming Mantis battle, he'll drop the rifle. He was holding it in the cutscenes, remember?

As for outer haven, I could barely get to the weather sealed door let alone get to the top deck. I will try out everything, but I have to play through the whole game all over again.

Act 5:

Yeah, that sealed door was very annoying. I used at least 4 rations trying to get in. I rail gunned the gekko after forgetting I had some ammo but the other soilders kept hitting and hitting me...

Plus, is it possible to die in walking through that mirowaved corridor? I got 3/4 to the end and snake's life was at minimum for the rest of the way. Button mashing heaven that was. My thumb hurt afterwards.

My first Metal Gear Solid game, and im just wowed by it so far... controls seem little difficult but it will grow. Anyone knows if there is a short 'review' of the previous games for the storyline? :)

@ SL, Who are those women? Have those women something to do with Beauty and the Beasts?
Yes. The beasts you meet (the Screaming Mantis, Crying Wolf etc) are the beasts, and when you defeat them the "beauty" part appears. A story is told by Drebin about each of their traumatic lives once you finish each one off.

I would imagine that if you don't make any progress you would die. I would hope so though because my elbow and finger was killing me after smashing triangle as fast as I was doing. Makes me wonder why Otacon couldn't just build Mk. III to do the whole job as it seemed unaffected.

re: Naomi:
Anyone think that with all the research and time put into the nanomachines, foxdie, and foxalive (shouldn't the proper opposite be foxlive?), that Naomi could've instead found a cure for her own cancer? It's kind of crazy that she died so quickly too. Surely she'd be in pain, but unless she was previously on the brink of death, I find it odd that cancer could kill her in 20 seconds. lol.

Yeah, I know what you mean. Cancer surely must be something easier to conquer than completely controling and healing wounds of other human beings in an instant...

I suppose she died so quickly because of something mentioned earlier in the game. If you take away the nanomachines instantly from a soilder than all the anger, sorrow, and all other feelings from war all come out at once, hence why the soilders were going crazy when those pulsating sounds were heard. I suppose the cancer just took over her body straight away since she lived a lot longer than she supposed to. Probably a little unrealistic, but it's an explaination.

Thnx james for explaining that:tup:

Just completed the game, well I completed it over an hour ago but the ending cut scenes keeps going. Some very cheesy cut scenes but a very good plot all in all, great game. 👍

Heh, I've been surfing fan forums to see what the reaction was, and there's a lot of people who think the story is crap. But I also noticed these are the same people who are know-it-alls, who usually trample assault others for having ideas whilst promoting their own as being the right ones. It's almost as if Kojima-san is extending te bowfinger in their direction.

Okay, so i bought it today. And while it is amazing so far, its very confusing, like the controls, but im getting the hang of it.

Oh, I was putting my Konami ID password not my game password hahah I feel silly.. thx anyways.! haha

OOo this game is addictive. Once you get the controls down, its very fun. One question though is i can never get one group of people on my side. You know how in the 15 minute demo video that hideo presented, when he shot at the other side, the side he was helping didnt shoot him, Well everytime i try that, both sides come after me.

Thanks guys, but I knew where I got them, but they weren't there the second time through. Odd. Maybe I just missed them the second time, like I missed the Mk. 23 and the .50 DE the first time.

Yeah, but I tried that before with the Rat Pt team and it didn't work. So, I never bothered to try it again.

Run to the door, and kill the gekkou. Then, the Frogs stop coming after you kill them all. Also, if you need DP, stay to the front and kill them over and over again. They never stop coming until you get to the door and kill the gekkou.

You might have killed or shot one of the militia members by accident. They'll attack you if you shoot at them.

Give them a ration, if you can afford it, and shoot the enemy. They'll see you're on their side and will stop shooting at you.

You can only get the Militia on your side, I think. So don't shoot them.

very minor spoiler
Once you get to the cave part you can get a disguise, which makes things easier

Thanks.

She and Vamp don't have SOP. From what I understand, their nanomachines are her creation and are not the ones used by GW. Remember, she and Vamp never get messed up during the SOP interferences. Her nanomachines are not emotion/stress suppressive, but, rather, healing accelerators. The cancer would have to regrow all over again, or, assuming the cancer was already spread so far that it could kill her as quickly as it did, she would surely be bedridden throughout her entire "extension" of her life. Vamp died as quickly as he did because of the wounds he suffered from Raiden (and Raiden's body is cyborg/artificial). So, I think Naomi dying as quickly is kind of far fetched. It would've at least been more realistic if Naomi made it back to Otacon and died on him in person.

8/9 of my online buddies are playing this game.

Same here!

I'm about to start my third playthrough. I'm still bent on finding the guns I'm missing but think I'll give in and just purchase them. It seems the MGS4 guides are useless. Doesn't it even tell you where to find weapons or most items?

I'm really beginning to hate how some features either don't work or work the most stupid way. For example choking somebody. If you press the R1 too hard, you break the guys neck. Not good if you're going for zero kills like I was just trying to do. I spent a fortune at Drebin's for non-lethal items and weapons, and I kill guy because I choked him too hard. When you're playing the game you get a bit pumped up and it's IMPOSSIBLE not to press too hard. What a stupid feature considering if you needed to kill a guy, while you have him in a choke hold, all you need to do is push the TRIANGLE button to slice his throat.

Any point in giving militia men rations? I don't get a song or anything else people have said you can get. What a bunch of moochers!

Ever 'hold up' a guy and tried searching his body for items? I haven't done it yet despite trying it about 100 times. I haven't read anybody doing it, either. Have you? What's the trick?

And what's up with the Codec?
Two contacts? That's it? And one of them is that bitchy Rose! The only good thing about her is watching her boobs bounce around when you fast forward your conversation.

Just some of my gripes about this fantastic game.

Question for something in act 4:
How can you easily defeat those moowing things in the huge vamp battle.
Sometimes i can destroy them with 1 shot by accident, but most of the time i have to fire like 6 rounds from the railgun to take them down.
