I was thinking that... the Australians I know recognise Fosters for the insipid, shampooey naffery it is, I recalled them saying they didn't think it was "virry Orstriyleyun". Whatever that meant.

That you've mistaken a group of South Africans and New Zealanders for Australians?
Let's just say nobody would be hollering "Straya, c***" about it.

Australians wouldn't give a XXXX for anything else.

/1990s

That was even worse, good ol' Castlemaine XXXX, "I can see the pub from here!". Maybe there was just a combined 90's euro-glut of cheap beer and out-of-work ad-men?

He might want to have a quick check with his binoculars before piling in; Russian Warships Heading for Australia.

The Russians will meet "shirt-fronted" with "heavily-bombed".
Oh no! They're going to invade Australia! Ukraine was just a distraction!
___________
Oops, I gotta go, there's an amphibious APC (BTR-82) waiting for me outside. Commander says we're going to meet some kangaroos. (Are they taking us to a zoo?..)

Well that was rebuffed quickly
It's all over the news today and i haven't seen it before :embarrassed:

Some of the Brit "news" papers are carrying it today because Russian TV showed it last night and claimed it was genuine. The newspapers don't care if it's real or not so hey :)

No, this is in the newspapers which only really really mad people believe :D

Here's a comparison shot of the plane too; look at the large word on the side on each plane. Not only did fighters intercept it but they also repainted it :D

EDIT: And this, just for the lulz, whatever those might be.

The only reason he is invading australia is because australia is becoming worse than the russians on the road.
It is no joke, were getting bad on the road

So Putin has to defend his country's honor when it comes to dashcams

I "liked" how they were telling that the attack plane was a Su-25 before this sat-photo. And when they showed the photo, the jet became a MiG-29... but it's clearly a Su-27 (or a different model from the Flanker family) :/

Good article in English debunking this photo: LINK

And some terrifying comments :)

Daniel
Actually, all that might be proven is that the photo is falsified. It was NOT part of the actual Russian Union of Engineers Report, which is the best forensic analysis to date. Considering that the Engineers went to great pains to be factual in their report, I find it curious that a random “GIFT” shows up supporting their conclusions, by an US “MIT expert” …from “wikileaks” with an image that can be easily proven false. Rather than an attempt to perpetrate a scam by the Russian engineers, it appears this is more likely counter-propaganda DESIGNED to DISCREDIT the report by associating it with TAINTED evidence.

All of a sudden the headline story goes from “Credible group comiles credible evidence of UKR jets shooting down MH17″ to “Russia tries to pass false evidence”. The Engineers were suckered into a honey trap of planted evidence. ITV couldn’t resist the “smoking gun” scoop, and got snookered by NSA. The report, with sufficient evidence to prove their theory will be dismissed and never read. Meanwhile the “attempted fake” story will be repeated every time the UIKR jet shootdown is mentioned. And the US and KIEV will never have to show THEIR current iteration of “proof”, *which Kerry has, but can’t show.) Contrary to your conclusion, the PR scam makes the Engineers evidence even MORE compelling.

Oh dear :)

...also, now there are theories that debunk the debunkers.

1) The reporters are just bad at recognizing military jets
2) Google Earth based their maps on this photo
3) Many jet liners look the same
4) UTC 1:19:47 means it's day time. No need for a.m or pm.
5) etc.

I apologize, I don't have time to translate all of it right now.

If anything I find it curious why a fighter would wait until it's almost so close to shoot, that a missile wouldn't even arm itself.

The airliner also doesn't look like a 777 to me

Eww, this "satellite image" is such a zashkvar ('gisgrace' in Russian). The Russian mainstream TV channels were showing it intensively two days ago, but now they don't. :D

Looks like a "fake for fake" response to the Ukrainian claims (like the "intercepted militia conversation"). Ukrainians had also published a similar "satellite image" earlier, where an SAM missile is fired from the Russian territory, with the map taken from a video game (Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 2), but it's not known on the West (no one wants to embarass oneself like this).

However, you should remember that this was published by the media (that tell all kinds of crap), not claimed by Kremlin or the Defence Ministry.

No, I think Putin likes bears and has a collection of all kinds of bears from all over the world, but he needs a Koala bear to complete it. ;)

It aired on state run television no? (or that's what i read at least).
Uhm, you know... The channels like the First Channel, Rossiya 1, LifeNews, etc - they are allieged with the government, but it doesn't mean their news are written by Putin or anyone else from the government.

They can post any crap if it speaks for the Kremlin in general, but it doesn't always match the actual government's position. The journos also use words like "junta, fascists, nazis, genocide" etc about the Kievan government and their actions, but the officials are, of course, way more careful in their statements.

A Koala aint a bear and it is certainly not a drop bear.
Because dropbears cant live in cold climates, they need hot climates
And you can not weaponize the dropbear.

The bear is sigil of the Mormont family in Game of Thrones

Prominent Dutch politician Frans Timmermans, currently 1st VP of the EC, is reportedly a big fan, and has been quoted as saying something like the politics of Europe resembles that of the famous epic fantasy.

Yep, but it was written that "so what? Many airliners look the same from above"

And when pointing out the huge sizes of the aircrafts compared to the ground objects, someone in the comments on the other website said that the photo wasn't taken from a satellite, but from a US drone- Global Hawk.

I think this was done to rise the question and discuss this at the summit.

It's not a bear, it's a koala :) Bears are mammals, very different ;)

That image is the top google image search for "top view Boeing" in russian. Appears to be a 777 but I'm not sure it's got the right body length... MH17 was an ER body while this looks more like a "standard" house model.

And if the fighter had shot the missile from there he'd have been clearly able to see the markings on the aircraft with his instruments.

And, as pointed out, unless the picture was taken (which it never was) from a very low drone the plane is about 4km across :D

...and koalas aren't mammals?

Not in the "normal" understanding, it's marsupial. They're a vertebrate mammal at the top of the definition but neither placental nor monotremic. One would normally refer to the three different branches of mammals as mammals, marsupials and monotremes.

I should have made the difference more obvious :)
