Yeah, annoying to say the least!

Just watching the race now and it's pitch black after 7 laps and Soopa and Trebor are having a great battle at the front. gprilli is not far behind if they make a mistake..

Will go to bed soon but am hoping for rain...

Just watching the race and lap 12 Soopa, Trebor and gprilli all very close at the front. Then, Soopa gets wiped out by a backmarker. Pretty sure that's what happened anyway..

Still no rain.

Edit: End of lap 13 and Soopa has closed gap back down to 5 seconds.

Wow end of lap 15, 1 lap to go.

Trebor, Soopa and gprilli all together very close at the front.

AND it has just started to chuck it down with rain!

That didn't go well for me at all,was suffering understeer especially in direction changes and also how do you all see at night!?
I had to guess when to turn which was mostly wrong and didn't know when to brake.
Also got lost and could'nt find pit entry...

Just kidding.

Congrats to Trebor for the win and Nice race by Soopa and Gp.

I had a rough start by entering the room with sport soft tires and not knowing it. I forgot I had wets on last night during practice and it defaulted back to SS. Needless to say, after I messed up my tune, I figured out it was the tires. Duh!

It was all down hill from there. I was trying to push Boshuter down the back stretch and we were both hauling. It was the only thing I could do to try and catch the leaders. If we just draft battled the whole time we would never catch the leaders. We needed to stay in line and draft. I backed off every time way early for him but it didn't help, I never slammed into him, I just eased up on him and pushed and we were hauling. Apparently, the extra speed caused Boshuter to spin in a chicane and he went off. I waited for him but he decided to quit. After that, my Karma was shot. I know we could have worked together to get back up to pack but it wasn't to be. Sorry Boshuter if I messed you up....:guilty: You would have been going just as fast if you had drafted past me.
It could have worked.....:) Sorry it didn't..

Anyway, for some reason when I caught up to eatmyrice or whatever the guys name was (from here on out we will call him disco fever) he had to strobe light me every time he passed me or I passed him in the draft. It was completely annoying. disco fever needs to be booted if he is going to be a tool. I didn't know how else to interpret what he was doing so it was just annoying.:irked: sometimes mics are nice......

I had shortcut a bunch of corners trying to get disco fever off my back and it didn't work because he drafted back up so I punted him. He quit after that.

I decided to quit the race after that. It was not my night and I wanted to watch the leaders. It was a crazy last lap with the rain and all. Too bad it wasn't totally clean. I think the rain contributed to some contact. I didn't get a clear look but I know Soopa got turned around.

Still a good run.

I am look forward to Deep Forest. Got to get back on the podium.👍

Sounds like chaos back there,I was having a good battle with Allascato until night fell and I couldn't see, then all went downhill from there as stated in my post above...
I don't think the road was too wet,my grip levels didn't seem to change.
Also without rearview mirrors it's tough to see where the other guy is!:P

Yes it was my fault maybe I missed the braking point, or it was beacuse of rain I tried to brake but the car wasn't stopping and I hitted Soopa that spinned. I waited for him to take back his position back but we loose Trebor because of this. Was a pity because I made a mistake in the first lap loosing many positions and then lap after lap I regained the lead with Trebor and Soopa.

Maybe I did not take in consideration the rain at the end and my car went long in braking, sorry again Soopa I feel ashamed :( :ouch:

loooool disco fever LMFAO

Please remember to jot down the pole time for me...Thanks...

Sorry, I didn't remember, I think gprili got a 3:48.xxx. Do you remember your time gprili? I'm afraid the last spot has just been taken anyway kk20

Bugger, fell asleep waiting for this tonight.

Woke up, raced to look at the time and it was 12:25! Quickly turned my PS3 on but it was too late.. :(

I like Le Mans so am pretty pissed off about it. Sorry Soopa, think the hard days work caught up with me in the end.

That sucks man, thanks for coming along and watching anyway, sounds like it was entertaining to watch

I know you're usually pretty clean, so I hate to dish out a penalty, but I have to apply the same rules to everyone and it wasn't so long ago I highlighted the contact penalties (https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?p=5740362#post5740362). Lap 10 you caught up to me and trebor but you were very aggressive at Mulsanne knocking into me which in turn knocked trebor onto gravel, he managed to keep the lead but you stayed ahead of me, considered as first warning but since no damage done no penalty. Lap 11 going into Indianapolis you dove up the inside of me, I kept the racing line knowing you would exit wide, I went inside on the exit and tried to stay far left as possible but as we were alongside each other there was side by side contact and you end up on the grass. I don't consider that my fault, you should know an aggressive move like that will likely result in us both coming out of the turn together on different lines. Finally lap 16 coming into L'Arche Chicane you misjudge braking and rear end me causing damage, a lost position and potential win :ouch: I know you waited but since it wasn't your first offence the penalty is 2pts, you're probably thinking you would've been better off carrying on without waiting, if you'd done that I may well have doubled the penalty or issued a DQ. Turn 11 again we make contact, not really sure who was at fault, I end up in the gravel but by this time my chance at a first win is gone anyway, at least I finished on the podium this week. :indiff:

Let me get that last spot available soopa !!!

It's all yours, look forward to having you with us

I was trying to push Boshuter down the back stretch and we were both hauling. It was the only thing I could do to try and catch the leaders. If we just draft battled the whole time we would never catch the leaders. We needed to stay in line and draft.

Bump drafting is a no-no, save it for NASCAR ;)

I had shortcut a bunch of corners trying to get disco fever off my back and it didn't work because he drafted back up so I punted him. He quit after that.

Disco fever never should've been in the race to start with, he missed three in a row and never responded to my PM's about joining, so I gave his spot away. I think I may have forgotten to PM him about being out, he definitely won't be joining us again ;)

Well for the first time in the season we can say that the GT-R has been beaten ;)

My Recap: Before the start of the race i never thought that I would be up the front, and at qualifying when gprili got a 1.49.xxx i thought dam I'm never going to get there, then he gets faster with a 1.48.xxx!!!! after that i realized my brake balance was too much at front so when I put the brakes on fully the car just goes straight forward :ouch: (its hard to get brake control with a DS3)

So 3rd on the grid, the countdown starts, knowing i could have a better setup i just thought i'm going for it. START, with my TC on (to control the car if it rained) I had a huge boost over gprili, but I could see soopa also had a great start. After the first couple of corners I had the lead but gprili was right behind me in my draft. After a while in the first lap gprili makes a mistake giving me a bit of a lead over soopa who was now in 2nd.

At this point I was thinking I could have this race but soopa was catching up with the gap starting at 3.5xx seconds to being in my slipstream in the matter of a couple of laps. Then I thought this will be hard

So for most of the race it was just me and soopa, neck and neck, fight for the win, what ever you want to call it it was an epic battle for the lead. But we also helped each other to break away from the rest of the pack, and to get one of our NSX's on the top of the podium (I would of been happy with an NSX 1-2 if soopa got the better of me).

Darkness came over le mans, which made cornering hard on a few corners, but me and soopa was still going for each other. We both went for the 1 stop at lap 8 (I went too quick coming into the pit lane, hitting soopa, sorry soopa) at this point gprili had caught up and I could see his headlights creeping up. Me and soopa was drafting each other to get away but that GT-R was quick and caught up making it a 3 way battle.

When gprili got involved i thought he was a bit aggressive (as mentioned in other posts), I didn't see much but it looked like he knocked off soopa into the grass making him fall back, but soopa caught up with great pace.

lap 15, all 3 of us was up the front and still no obvious winner. Then it came, the last lap, the message came up (gprili crossed the line blah blah blah) STILL no obvious winner, it starts to rain, making this one epic final lap to finish off an epic race. I was in 3rd watching soopa and gprili fight for the first, but then the incident happened. soopa spins out then gprili waits which gave me an 8 second lead. I didn't want it to finish that way but these things happen. I just cruise to the finish line for my first gt planet league win.

Sorry for the long report but this race was so epic :D

Thanks for the recap, have to agree it was epic, we were racing so close and not a single incident between us as far as I remember. Considering we were passing each other through the fast turns between Mulsanne and Indianapolis in the dark we were doing really well not to take each other out.

Got alot of respect for your driving in that race, especially now knowing you're using a DS3, congratulations on your first win, it might not have ended as we'd both wished but you deserved the win anyway ;)

Do you remember your time gprili?

I know you waited but since it wasn't your first offence the penalty is 2pts

my pole time was 3:48.1xx :)

you're right Soopa it's my fault, sorry for have ruined our race in the last lap

wow, that was a fast lap with no draft, even with draft me and trebor weren't breaking 3:49's in the NSX's!!

Don't worry, these things happen, I know what its like when you're pushing hard to catch those ahead, its hard to dial it back down once you've caught them ;)

Bump drafting is a no-no, save it for NASCAR ;)

With 3 mile long straights, it is a legitimate strategy to push a car to regain the pack. Maybe not in real life, but the draft doesn't effect the cars so much in real life and it is a game. I have done this numerous times in the game with friends running online. If you draft past me on the straight, you are going a lot faster than normal. That doesn't seem to hurt anyone. I in turn, pass you back on the next straight and we gain nothing. If I push you, we both go faster on each straight. We don't take turns going faster.

You can watch the replay and see I let off way early and he had plenty of time to brake. You can also see from my bumper view that I never slammed into him, I just pushed him. I never pushed in corners. It was the drafting speed that got him. No different if he had drafted past me.

That is partly why Sarthe should not be in Super GT lineups.👎 The draft is so strong and the cars have so much downforce that it just becomes a draft battle. That is essentially what cost the race for Soopa. Nobody could get away from each other and there was a lot of contact as a result. The draft covers up a lot of ills in this game.

If I had a partner that could draft with me, I would have "learned ya" on how it is done. We could have made up serious time and ran fast lap.

We'll just have to agree to disagree on this one. Since Sarthe is done, there are no other tracks to bump draft on anyway.

I should have just skipped this race because I hate that boring track anyway. What a snooze fest to drive. Off to one of my favorites.....

I've found the draft to be noticeably less after the recent patch, think it is much more realistic now, I agree it was badly exagerrated previously and was one of my biggest issues with the game.

Bump drafting is fine when you know each other, though it's not really the done thing in SuperGT and is frowned upon in this league, I don't know much about NASCAR (oval tracks are my snoozefest) but I think it is part of that type of racing. You can go faster drafting this way, but the person being pushed may not judge the braking distance required with the extra speed, the result is what happened to boshuter and was unfortunate for him.

I think you'll find Trebor and I were doing a pretty good job of drafting the normal way, we were keeping well ahead of gprili while doing this and to say you gain nothing from it is just plain wrong, it was only once I had an unfortunate incident and we got split that gprili closed the gap.

I appreciate you clearly don't like the track, but I find there to be some challenging corners which are difficult to get the most out of, judging by your grid position you also found them a challenge, unless you simply fell asleep from boredom at some point ;)

wow, that was a fast lap with no draft, even with draft me and trebor weren't breaking 3:49's in the NSX's!!

This kind of makes my point.

Enough said. I don't want to be negative. The league has been fun so far. No serious complaints on my part. I just like the debate.:)

It doesn't really make your point, my point there was I can't understand how the hell he got that fast on his own, when none of us were anywhere near it even with draft. :odd:

Despite battling each other, which would normally slow drivers down and allow others to catch up, gprili was not catching us up and at some points we were pulling away, so I stand by the method of drafting as being effective.

LaSarthe is one of my favorite tracks, I made a lot of races here, most of them lasting for 2, 3 and 4 hours. I know very well the track. My "formula" is to have a high downforce (40/60) to get advantage in the turns and in the last sector in the Porsche Turns and in the Ford chicanes. With this downforce so high I was not that fast in the straights but it doesn't matter a lot here. I think during the race i did a 3:47.xxx using drifts. I ruined my race on lap one when I spinned following Trebor that got a fantastic start. I made a very bad start... (I have to train with the false start check to get the right moment)

Latest results have been posted, now that we're half way through the championship, standings are based on final points which exclude your 2 lowest scores.

garage has a commanding 22 point lead, well done mate, I'm sure you'll be back on top form again this week to extend it even further ;)

Due to technical difficulties the video highlights will be delayed, if I even get to do them at all...!?

I think Trebor said he was using TCS this week, that may have helped his start a little, I didn't use TCS as you can tell from my usual plume of smoke off the rear tyres at the start ;)

Video highlights for Rd.5 are now up, sorry it took a while this week, but my PC and DVD recorder were both playing up :(

Great work as usual Soopa!!
One of the best things in this game is the day/night/day time change!

By the way guys how about times in Deep Forest?
I managed for now 1:10.1xxx and the car is eating front tyres :nervous:

Thanks, was lucky enough to have some overtaking that captured the transitions too, thought the shot of me and Trebor turning lights on as we entered the chicane was cool :)

Haven't had a chance to do any testing yet, your time sounds good, though judging on previous weeks there'll probably be a 1:09.xxx come race day ;)

A fast doable time is 1:07's and doing 1:08,9's as race pace...This would preserve your tires...Theres not many braking on this track apart from the first corner...The fact that there are a lot of high speed corners affects the tires rather than the brakes...👍
