Really looking forward to the next couple of races, including these less complicated, high speed tracks!
tonights race should be great! hopefully a lot of action and could be the closest race yet ;)

WOW! thanks boshuter for the setup advice managed to get a 1:35.227 with a bit of tweeking to suit my driving style, which isnt very smooth might i add. Gonna need to stop the tyres from screeching so much if i'm to stick to a 1 or 2 stop. Hope i wake up soon, tired as anything and need to get up for work in the morning at 5.30 :-(

Glad the setup worked for you. I'm not sure about tire wear with it, really haven't had time to get it all sorted out.

well us mere mortals were given another lesson in driving this week, congrats garage-father on 3 wins in a row, quite a record you're building up ;)

even more impressive this week was not only winning, but taking pole position and fastest lap, first person to ever take maximum points from a race

Thanks Soopa.

I had a really good set up apparently. I thought it was fairly conservative so I could conserve tires but it turned out to be fast as well.

Now it is time to find the rabbit to pull out of my hat for next week.:)

Garagefather's recap:

I first have to say that my preparation centered around how to combat the NSXs superior speed on this fast track. I knew I couldn't break the draft unless they made a big mistake so I was resigned to the fact that if we pitted on the same sequence that it would be a drafting battle every lap that I felt I couldn't win.

With that in mind, I worked hard on a set up that would allow me to run a 1 stop strategy. At first, I struggled with the last 3 or 4 laps of a stint. My tires were pretty shot by then and my lap times grew longer and longer. I knew it added about 32 seconds to pit so the 1 stop strategy hinged on maintaining my pace enough so that my times weren't consuming the time advantage that a one stopper gained.

I got the tune to the point were I wasn't losing too much time on the final laps. I also knew that my second stint would be light on fuel which would help.

The first stint happened like I anticipated with a back and forth with Trebors NSX. If I left the draft, the NSX pulled away. I could pass the NSX on the course but he would pass me up on the straight fairly easily. I elected to cruise with him on the first stint and decided I wouldn't pass him unless he made a mistake. I didn't want to slow my pace to let 3rd catch up but I knew that the Raybrig would pass me up on the straight, unless I had at least a 3-4 second lead. He was too fast to achieve that so we ran together until lap 11 when my tires were superior and I broke the draft. Trebor pitted upon completion of lap 13 and I had a clear track with a nice gap to 2nd place. By then, I just concentrated on good lap times and smooth driving to maintain my lead as best as possible. I wasn't sure how much time I would lose against the cars with fresh tires while I finished up my first stint.

I pitted upon completion of lap 18 and came out of the pits in pretty good shape in P4. I fought the temptation to drive hard to regain the lead and just tried to run fast and slowly inch up. I knew P1-3 had to pit again and that would cost them 30-32s. P1,2, and 3 were battling pretty hard and that aided my strategy. I was able to eventually close the gap with the Raybrig and was on his tail when he pitted on lap 24 or so.

I knew at that point that I had a clear track ahead and 12 laps to manage my tire wear and lap times. The fresh tires on the chasing cars were better and they were gaining on me throughout the final laps but my strategy put me in a big lead and it was insurmountable in the end. I successfully negated the draft advantage of the NSX and it brought me home to victory.:)👍

I felt that i had a really good race last night, my first podium!
the first 12 laps were great with another battle with garagefather. my personal highlight for the first part is when i managed to double overtake gprili and garage on the straight to go from 3rd to 1st.

after the first 12 laps i thought i might go for a 1 stop to have a chance at first but lap 13 was a nightmare so i pitted to avoid losing more time, and after the pit i was right behind hurleyman and gprili. I don't know how but i manged to overtake them both and make them lose my draft. garage then pitted which gave me the lead for a few laps in till i needed to pit, by this time he was catching up quick!

the last part had me try to get from 4th to 2nd as it was in sight. I really wanted a podium, so i went for it and set some good laps being in the 1.34's. i caught up and overtook for 3rd, which i was happy with, but as 2nd was ahead i could taste 25 points and manged to overtake, which i stayed there till the end. another great race!

I just watched the replay and that pass was a 3 wide awesome fest! Great move down the middle.

That move on lap 19 was a little rough on Hurley though.:scared:

He was gaining big draft speed following gprili lap 19, with sight of going between him and hurleyman, but hurleyman closed that gap and gaining fast he had to dart out to the right of hurleyman. He had enough time to get passed both and brake for turn 1, but as he came out of the draft his car appeared unstable and he swerved back towards hurleyman as he passed, I'm pretty sure there was no intention there and while their sides did come into contact, since no damage was done I haven't needed to give out any penalties again this week :)

garage-father I have to say I've been very impressed at the speed you can run while still keeping tyres, 20 second lead on 2nd place by the end of the race was awesome, you deserved to take all the points this week 👍

I can't disagree too much. Just a bad deal for Hurley. I wasn't beating up on Trebor too much. I agree it was unintentional. It just looked risky.

Thx Soopa. I'm trying real hard and trying to make the most out of it.

I hope my recaps aren't too presumptuous.:) I'd write them whether I won or not. I'd like it if others shared their experience as well. Makes it more fun. It was good to read Trebors post and see how happy he was with his performance. He ran a pretty good race overall and had a great time.

Not at all, I like to see you guys writing about your race and appreciate reading how you felt it went and strategies you used, obviously I see alot of what went on having watched the replay through a few times and editing the highlights. I would write a race recap but my video editing skills are better than my writing skills ;)

See you guys next week.

Was good to see you pick up some points this week and having a battle with Tempo ;)

I need to find myself a good suspension/LSD setup for my NSX, if anyone is able to offer any I'd willingly give them a try, think I'm gonna start with adjusting the camber wildly to see the effects but ideally I need a pit crew to sort me out ;)

Hi there everyone,I am in GMT+8 so does this mean the race would be on a saturday 7am for me?

I am quite keen to be in this series for the next month or so as it is the hoilday season here.

So from what I gather on available cars, can I use the YellowHat Supra?

And while the upgrades section does say "any tuning part",I trust you guy's don't spam excess parts and use the limiter?

In any case I would love to race with you guys as Im a regular participant in the GT3 series and also have an interest in JGTC.

You should work as an video editor in real life soopa, THERE GOOD! I also agree with garagefather, there should be more people recaping the race, they are nice to read.

as you guys are on about the pass on lap 19, i could not remeber it much. then looking at the highlights vid i still don't remeber it much. I remeber coming towards them both and going for a second in the middle overtake, but not much after that. I'll look at the replay at racing view to see if it comes back to mind.

and i had a couple of collisions at cornor 5, as people's race line was on the inside and my one was outside going inside, and sometimes i collided with cars and made me go wide and lose time. I didn't report anything as it didn't really annoy me but what would a third party say about it

UK is currently GMT+1 so I think 7am is right, there's a couple of links in the OP which will show you the time at a city near you, there's also a countdown timer you can use ;)

The Supra is available

I don't know any way to police people tuning and using the power limiter, so you can do what you like to the car, it's the same for everyone so there's no advantage.

Assuming you're beginner-intermediate level driver, then you're more than welcome to join us, let me know if you still wanna join and I'll reserve the car for you...

Thanks mate, hopefully I can get an HD capture device soon, then they'll look even nicer :)

I really rely on you guys reporting anything that happens during the race, I watch the replays but that doesn't always gurantee I'll spot an issue, if I do spot something which wasn't reported I will also tend to be more lenient...
I'd rather people followed the rules regarding discussion of infractions, basically check the replay first to gain better perspective, if something needs reporting then you PM me and/or the other driver. I don't want people hurling accusations in the lobby or in this thread as it may turn out the person wasn't really at fault or at least didn't have malicious intent and others may get the wrong impression about someone.

The issue with GT5 sometimes is you cannot see the other car, have to keep pressing the buttons on the G27 to look out the side see if anyone's here.:(

Signed you up in the Supra, add me on PSN and we'll see you on Friday, well I guess it's Saturday for you ;)

Starting up my PS3 soon, expect a FR from "Whincup_88".I would like to say in advance that I will be missing the round on 10th (9th for you guys?) September though as I have a CCA camp to attend.

Look forward to this, will do some seasonals now to earn money for purchasing the Supra.:)

After looking at the replay for the collision at lap 19, on MY screen hurleyman turned into me. As i came to overtake in the middle, the gap closed so i had to take them on the right, when i got to the side hurleyman's supra turned right quickley and went into me. It might have been a little connection lag that made it look like a collision, but thats my conclusion.

Great video Soopa!! as usual!! It's amazing how you find the time to record different pieces of the race and put them togheter, I hope that I will be able to do it for my LMP1 series

About the race I've to say that Tokyo is not one of my favorites :D
started second with a good performace in qualify but I could not keep the pace of the leaders after few laps.

After I loose Garage_father and Trebor555 I struggled with hurleyman24 for a lot of laps until he made a move to distract me from the braking point in turn 1 and I went into the wall :D

After that I pitted for the second time but I spinned just outside of pit in turn 1 also for too much rush :ouch:

After all this I have to say that 4th is not bad
I hope in LaSarthe to make a good performance because I love Le Mans day/night/rain ........:scared:
