I'm getting very poor lap times, with the fastest being 1.47.0xx :nervous:
need to pick up the pace for the race as everyone seems to be going for 2 stops

Well I finally managed to get a couple of hours in, clearly not gonna be enough as I can't seem to stay on the track for very long, my car doesn't like that hairpin either! Best lap was 1:44.8. I reckon I'll mainly be running 1:45-1:46 during the race, absolutely no clue what pitstop strategy I'm gonna run as I didn't get as far as running more than 3-4 lap stints while setting up the car, so I'll just wing it but most likely 2 stops as I've never been able to save tyres.

I've had to be out of town for a few days and didn't get to practice at all until just now. :nervous: This has never been a good track for me, I just don't like it and try to avoid running on it when I can. Best I have managed for now is low 1:46, that's gonna have to do. Hopefully I can stay out of trouble and manage a decent finish.

Just been out for an Indian and washed it down with a fair few Kingfisher beers. Feeling stuffed and tired at now!

I will probably have a shockr tonight although I am hoping the racing adrenaline will kick in haha!! ;)

soopamanluva can you accept my friend request

mabye his notifications are off?

Can someone who is in the lounge notify him of my request.

Thanks

1:44.8 is a good time. 1:45-46s will keep you near the front I am guessing.

Garagefather's recap:

Another fun race in the MRC.:)👍

I am really enjoying the competition in the league. Being a first time league member, I am really appreciating the good drivers and courteous on track etiquette which is unlike jumping into random rooms online. Much better racing with much better racers. I enjoy the extra dimension of strategy with the longer races. It is much more interesting than seeing who can survive a 4-5 lap shootout and demolition derby. Whether in real life racing or online, everyone can be fast into corners, only good drivers are fast coming out.

I was happy to start on pole this week. I felt I had a great shot to get out front early. Trebor almost took the position on the first corner as he had a much better launch at the start. He pressured me pretty well throughout the first stint and actually made me work my tires so hard to shake him that I had to modify my pit strategy.

Deciding that my tires were going to hurt me too much if I stayed on my lap 11 pit window, I elected to pit early and rely on a lighter fuel load and a easier pace to get to lap 22 for the second stop w/o sacrificing times on the final laps of the second stint. I was initially surprised to see gprilli dive in to pit with me but figured he had the same thoughts in mind. I knew from last week that he would be fast and it looked like we would be in for another epic battle.

During the second stint, I had to overtake a few of the leaders for position including blingblaine, who was on a 1 stop strategy. He was incredibly fast for having such old tires and was tough to pass. If we had equal tires I probably wouldn't have gotten around him. In the mean time I had gprilli screaming up behind me and we were in a 3 way battle pretty quickly. I made a pretty good move coming out of the final turn at about midrace and gp and bling did a little rubbing which slowed them down a bit and allowed me to take the top spot.

At this point, my tires had been beat up a little bit more than I wanted and I had to conserve them. Luckily, gprilli was in the same boat.

The Bandai Direzza SC430 came out of the pits for his stop at midrace and I was again looking to pass and remain ahead of gprilli. I believe Boshuter was the driver and he allowed me to get around and then, despite having much fresher tires, he remained behind me when he could have challenged me for his lap back. Absolute gentleman driver. He stayed behind me until lap 22 when I pitted. My tires were beat but I had one saving grace. gprilli pitted one lap earlier than me and would have one more lap on them in the end.

We battled hard and exchanged positions several times at which point I was reserved that I could not shake him and he was superior in the draft and would always overtake me on the front straight. I then hung back and conserved tires and waited for lap 33. I overtook him on the front stretch by using his draft and had the tires to stay there. gprilli ran as hard as he could and ran into trouble late in the lap which allowed me to take the win w/o pushing too hard in the final sector. It was a blast to say the least.

Great race guys. Look forward to Tokyo.

💡 I tune and practice on week nights EST (currently EDT) from about 7-10 pm when I can. You can send a friend request (if you haven't already) if you want to. We could work on our tunes if you want to. Just jump into my lounge if I am in there or I might jump into yours. I'm not a great tuner but I am getting better. There are also some good tunes on gtplanet. Sometimes it is the subtle changes that make all the difference.:)

I may well take you up on that offer, it's looking like a good setup is gonna be required to win a race in this championship, I can setup the transmission really well but unfortunately I haven't a clue how to setup suspension or differential. My car is a few clicks off the default, basically slightly lower and stiffer and thats about it, any advise would be greatly appreciated as I'd like a chance to win at least one race in the first season. I think I've done ok considering I only have a default setup, I definitely think the car can do better, although I had no idea there was such a difference in PP between some of the cars. Guess I should've done a bit more research rather than going with the 500hp since it seems (as in real life) the GT-R's are gonna be running away with it.

There was certainly a lot of action this week and it's getting harder to turn an hour of racing into a 15min highlight reel, I was pleased to see there were no incidents requiring penalties, the quality of racing in general has been fantastic so far.

I'll try and hook up with you online this week and see if you can give me a few pointers on getting the most out of my car ;)

Yes, last night was very enjoyable again. I seem to have decreased mistakes made every race which is pleasing too. Grand Valley is a poor track for me though..

Although I doubt I will ever be good enough to be on the podium let alone win a race!! :( Some very quick drivers on here. Beginners/Intermediate my arse Soopa!

I sent cobrius a PM apologising for hitting him lap 12 I think. My brakes just don't seem that good when behind other drivers. Out of interest, what settings do people have their brakes? I will have to check mine but they may need changing..

And I'm sure you will all be pleased to know that I will be away for the bank holiday weekend so won't be able to take part at Tokyo. Quite disappointing as I won the warm up event at Tokyo so I quite like it there. Le Mans and Deep Forest are two of my other favourite tracks though so will look forward to those.

hey soopa just wondering where the highlight reel of the past races were. im sure you are editing the newest video still.
thanks for the hard work it makes the series that much more immersive.

I really enjoyed this weeks race, and thought that i had a good chance for podium but bling was very good with his 1 stop, around lap 11 my tiers were bad and bling was catching me fast.

I was amazed to come 2nd on the grid after a final amazing lap to put me there, and to have a great battle with garage was brilliant. I lost him around lap 4 when i hit the tunnel (D'oh) and then had gprill catching up.

The second sector was not my best and really slowed me down. I seem to be gaining a position each week, so could i get on the podium next week? only time will tell.... and hoping the gt-r's are not very dominent on that track

Well it was supposed to be for beginners to intermediates considering myself to be the latter, but it does appear we've attracted some drivers I'd consider well above average, the way some drivers seem to be able to make their tyres last whilst still consistently putting in laps equivalent to hot laps for the rest of us!!

I'm hoping the pro's amongst us will be able to teach us a thing or two about tuning our cars and so far a few seem willing to help out ;)

It certainly takes some time to get all this togehter and provide videos, but its been worth it for all the great feedback I've had over the past few weeks and really the quality of racing has been so good I don't mind going over the replay a few times to see everything that went on...

Scroll down on the first page and the videos are underneath the race results 👍

they dont show up on my moto xoom tablet. found em on the pc. thanks

I would recommend looking at some tune garages like the lions den or praianos tunes to find the right super gt tune for you. I learned alot from other peoples tunes. If you wanna join my lounge anytime i will sare all my tunes, because what I want is a close race not a runaway.

Just wondering, does everyone get there tunes from other people or make there own for each race? I personally make my own (having to do a last minute complete tune at grand vally paid off) so i can get the pride of knowing i set my car right, or having to work on it for the next round. If people want some tips on suspension or LSD settings then just tell me ;)

Another great video, they get better and better 👍
there was nothing but overtaking this week, which made a great race!

The series has certainly attracted some top drivers, which is a very good thing. I'm hoping to pick up some tips myself during this series and at least come away a little better driver. 👍

My season has started out bad, the first race wasn't too bad, but it's been all downhill from there. My problems are mainly due to not having time to practice, family issues have had me out of town a lot and it really shows in my racing. The last track is never good for me, I just don't enjoy racing on it and didn't get any laps in practice until a few hours before the race. I was way down on lap time and made way too many mistakes to get a decent finish.

Some of the upcoming tracks are among my favorites, hopefully I can pull out of the slump I'm in. :ill:

Nice highlights Soopa.:)👍

I'll help where I can with the NSX and I have some friends who have tuned them so I may be able to get some pointers from them if you can tell me what your car is suffering from or where you would like to improve it the most.💡

I can say most guys stiffen up the rear springs and lighten up the front springs. They generally use more sway bar in the rear than in the front. A lot of guys will run a lot of camber on the rear as compared to FR cars. The front would be about the same as FR cars. Down force as needed. Most of the time it is set pretty high on the front and rear. I like to run my shocks in the rear at 8 and 6 and the fronts at 8 and 7. It is all depends on what the car is doing and how you like to drive it.

I have a collectors edition exclusive Apex Ultimate Car Guide. That came in my collectors edition set sold in the US. I need to try and scan the tuning section and make it available for you guys. It has some interesting info in it. I've got to see if I can get a good scan from a book on my scanner. I will let you all know if I succeed and have something to share.:)👍

I will let gprilli know you need a pro. lol

My first league, honest....:sly:

I also have the apex book (2 actually )
it does have very useful info, but sometimes its not always right. e.g. the suggested settings to counter oversteer is to raise height on the front and lower the rear, but i find the opposite is better.

I've heard a lot of things seem opposite to what the general rule of thumb would be for tuning. At least it gets you trying things. If you go opposite of the recommendations and it works for you, then all is good. Sometimes that is exactly how I make improvements. Make the car bad and go in the opposite direction and solve the issue in question.

Thanks for the tip on finding tunes in the forum, I like the attitude towards making the racing close, that is great to hear.

Again thanks for the tips, its great that you guys aren't being all secretive about your winning formulas, many people wouldn't be as willing to help out as you are.

I have the book with my collectors edition too, I think the problem is I'm not experienced enough a driver to understand where my car is failing, my main problem is front tyre wear which is so bad I have to strongly bias the brakes towards the rear which consequently makes braking into corners difficult. I can never tell what level of camber is right, I think I have it set at about 1.5 front 1.0 rear, I try adjusting it but it never seems to make a noticable difference but I'm sure it must affect tyre wear significantly!?

My main issue this week was a severe lack of track time prior to the race, so I didn't expect to do all that well, I think 5th was quite a decent finish all things considered. My 4 fav tracks for this season are Suzuka, La Sarthe, Monza & Nordschleife. I had pole and fastest lap at Suzuka and if it weren't for the mistakes I made would've probably won that race :ouch: I'm hoping with the right suspension tune I can pull off a win from at least one of my remaining fav's.

I will start off with seeing how stiffening the rear and softening the front changes the car, I'll also have a little look at some pro tunes here on gtplanet, I'm sure with the right tune and in the right hands the NSX could be lethal...

My first league, honest....:sly:

eheheh :)

well.... I'm not such a pro regarding setup... usually I take an online setup and I use it!! I'm not very good in tuning, also I don't have much time to test and tweak a setup. Let's say in this league I feel pretty good beacuse the car is very stable. But the only thing that I do is tweak the downforce, gear ratios and braking balance. I don't understand very well suspension settings, camber, toe... I use camber 1.8 front 1.2 rear :)

also was the first time for me in a race at Grand Valley!! I usually use only real tracks in my leagues because I want the "real thing"... so was a very good result for my first time! Great race Garage_Father!! 👍

Thanx also BlingBlaine for the unexpected gifts!!
