I've got a Supra (the '05) that I ran in another series. It has a pretty good setup on it if you want to try it. Send me a PM or add me on PSN: boshuter

Hi guys,

I'd like to join your league.

PSN: allascato
CAR: BANDAI DIREZZA SC430 '08

Bye.

You're in, welcome to the league, look forward to seeing you on Friday. Note that this week will involve driving at night and with a possibility of rain

I haven't had time yet :nervous:

Been practising for other leagues and Monday night was a real tough event, but I did get some practise driving at night with rain, albeit in a Calsonic Skyline '00 and on a different track!! Should get some practise tonight though and hopefully I can finish work early tomorrow for a bit more ;)

What times you getting? Dry/Wet?

I haven't had time yet either :lol::scared:
going to get some laps in tonight, and tomorrow. I think this could be the only event the nsx could win if it rains (as the tyres shouldn't wear as bad, making a 1 stop if it starts out sunny, which seems to be the winning formula)

It certainly does seem right for most tracks, I'm just not good enough a driver yet to be able to put in those laptimes while conserving tyres, maybe I'll find a miracle tune for my car which gives a better balance between the 2....

Well after running a few laps my times where:

Dry - 3.53.210
Wet - 4.40.xxx

The rain is mad, its going to take very careful driving to master it :scared::nervous:

I managed a quick practise, getting 3:52.682 but will hopefully get that down to 3:51.xxx with a few more laps, haven't done any wet laps yet...:guilty:

You should easily get it down to 1.51's, after 30 more minutes of dry practice i managed a 3.50.257 (after changing the settings a bit). had the weather on sunny without fix, and in the 30 minutes there was no sight of rain.

The big problem im having is the tyers burning up when braking hard down the straights, any help on making the tyres last?

I'm terrible at making tyres last, far too aggressive in turns I think but I'm trying to do better, I find the front tyres wear quicker so I set the brake bias towards the rear. It seems to help even the tyre wear between front and rear and get a few more miles out of the front tyres.

So is it just racing softs throughout? Or can wets and inters be put on?

Of course wets or intermediates are fine, otherwise racing soft only though, it is just no hard or medium to be used. It was originally so that novices would find it easier, same reason TCS is also allowed, I also assumed it would rule out pit strategy as everyone would have to stop twice on softs. Obviously I underestimated people making softs last much better than me! ;)

I would try using your engine as a brake and downshift early w/o hitting the brake too hard. Brake sooner to set the car up and then let off the brake and try to flow through corners smoothly using the engine as your only brake through the apex. Use your throttle as a balancing mechanism to the engine brake to maintain desired speed through the corners. It is surprising how fast you can be doing this. You ride your brakes less and allow the rear tires to absorb the braking energy and save on front wear. Typically, the fronts wear harder and I assume those are the tires you are burning up.

If it is the rears burning up you can shift the balance to the fronts more. I hate running my rears higher than my fronts most of the time because I feel it makes the car more unstable under heavy braking into corners. Others like it. Your preference, of course.......Or, you could go opposite of what I have said and it might be right up your alley. Sometimes my hypothesis are 180 degrees backwards and a little experimentation normally bears that out pretty quickly. You still end up where you want to be eventually.👍

Thanks for the tips garagefater, helped a lot with the chicane's.

And i think i found a new winning formula, if vettel can win in F1 with a red bull car then i should win with red bull energy drinks inside me

See you guys soon.:)
Can we start the race on soft rain tires?
2 pit stops right?

I think Soopa mentioned earlier that you can run Racing softs, Intermediates, or rain tires, all other tires are prohibited. If it is raining at the start, start with rain tires.

You will need to pit at least once but you can pit every lap if you want to. There are no requirements past the 1 pit minimum.

Can the rain potentially be constant for every single lap?

If the rain is stop start then there could be quite a few pitstops tonight. Would make it interesting..

Are you guys sure you want to run real grip reduction in the wet? Are you gluttons for punishment?:grumpy: I have never tried it before and I cannot get around the track w/o spinning or going off. It is bad enough with the grip reduction on low in the wet but grip reduction real in the wet is crazy.

I should be, but never have been, a fan of Sarthe. It seems sacrilegious to be a racing fan and not love the track that the legendary 24h of Lemans is run on, but it is what it is. The track just doesn't have any rhythm to it. Too long with too few corners. It lulls you to sleep on the endless straights and then demands absolute perfection in the mostly slow corners or you are off or all over the place.:ouch:

I know this is a popular track with racers and that I am in the minority on this. I am just glad we can drop 2 races because if it rains, I plan to retire for the night. The rain just takes all the fun out of it.

I dont see that there is that much of a problem with the rain i have the grip reduction real and its rained for 20 minutes and i still am doing laps right around the 4 minute mark. i set up my car to understeer if that helps anyone else

Today is going to be my first time driving this car on this track.:nervous:
I have problems joining, please wait a lil' guy's...Tells me room not found wtf.:grumpy:

I am going to try in the wet but the GTR is terribly loose, even with traction control at 8. I have found that my car has more rear grip in Soopa's lobby than in my own. Not sure why but it may be all right in his lobby. It's terrible in mine.

It still may be terrible in his. We'll see.

Bugger, fell asleep waiting for this tonight.

Woke up, raced to look at the time and it was 12:25! Quickly turned my PS3 on but it was too late.. :(

I like Le Mans so am pretty pissed off about it. Sorry Soopa, think the hard days work caught up with me in the end.
