Midnight Racing Club - GT500 Season 2: Rd.10 Nürburgring 24H 23rd Dec

Yeh soopa I'm sorry to hear about your injury but I'm sure your still gonna be competitive , hope you figured out that heavy tire wear issue on your nsx

Ooh, how exciting, gonna have to go purchase the DLC today then :)

Thanks for the kind words guys, I was rested up with my knee wrapped in ice last night, it's very sore and swollen today and I can barely walk on it. Fingers crossed I can still be competitive with the DS3, I'm sure I'll get used to it again but I know I was quicker when I got my wheel, which is why I never looked back

Even though I'm now in the uk I'm still using my usa account so I guess ill have to wait a week for the dlc , oh well spa race isn't for now anyway .

Ill be practicing around 8 pm uk time tonight , looking forward to seeing some of you guys

U should be able to get it. It goes off your isp I think, not where your account is registered. Because people in America was asking if they could get it with a Japanese or Australian account and they can't.

Well my season of very little practise just got a whole lot harder, suffered a very painful knee injury at football tonight and I don't think I'll be able to use my wheel for a while, gonna have to go back to the DS3 for the first time in several years :nervous:
I will also not be able to practice much from now on,9am-9pm 5 days a week at college and likely studying on weekends.Hope your knee gets fixed by the next race the championship is at stake!:P

Well I've already been on the podium once, thats enough for me, I already new I wouldn't be challenging again as I don't have time to put in the effort needed this season (work, life and other games to play!).

Just got the DLC, Spa looks absolutely gorgeous, managed a low 2:13. I think my 27 lap estimate will stand, with pitstops factored in that should be about an hour, I'll take a quick spin around Trial Mountain & Fuji F to confirm those in a while. The even better news is that I can confirm those without the DLC can join my lounge and race on the track. I guess to practise though you're gonna have to rely on others who have the DLC being around but at least you don't have to miss the race :D

Did a few laps around Nurb, started with a 1:57 but have managed to get it down to a more respectable (although still off pace) 1:54.4, I don't expect to get much closer to a 1:52. So that puts me roughly equal with last seasons time which is actually slower when you consider we're on Spec 2.0 now. I've found that tyre wear is actually better for me using the DS3 though! This has me confused as I would've thought the less smooth steering compared to wheel would've done the opposite, the other odd thing is that it was wearing out the rear quicker than the front, again it was the opposite with my wheel. I did expect increase in rear tyre wear initially, as throttle control with my right foot is far greater than with my thumb, so I am battling with oversteer on corner exit but I'm really confused by the fact front tyre wear is decreased!!

Hey soopa, if u remap your controler so that r2 is your accelerator and l2 is your brake you can get better control over them, not, as good as a pedal, but better than a button! If u wanna use manual put it as l1 and r1.

I use the analog sticks for both steering and throttle/brake, so I do have some control, just not as much as with my right foot (more natural). Thanks for the tip though

Maybe with the wheel you steer too much, hence excessive front wear.
The controller will limit steering angle to the ideal amount for taking the corner.
Or at least that's what I think.:P

Edit: Out of curiosity what steering settings (feedback, etc) do you guys use?

After watching the suzuka replay several times anything can happen in these races and its all about getting clean air to get the best lap times but this is racing and your bound to encounter traffic.

It was a fun race and using a early pit strategy (the undercut as they call it) worked for me , just wish i got a podium spot.

The DS3 seems to have better alignment than a wheel , for example you can just drive straight with a DS3 just press throttle and car will go straight , with a wheel the bumps in the road will start flicking the wheel left and right . If you get what i mean so it might be possible that controllers have better front tire wear than wheels. Who Knows , im just guessing.

I think qualifying will be important in Nurburg more than Suzuka because I only see one overtaking spot in Nurb compared to 2 in Suzuka.

Just hope I can qualify well and stay out of trouble , no spin outs.

Soopa is just being modest as usual , his pace is off but he will show up big in the race i predict , even with the DS3.

Why you say there are only 2 passing opportunities? I see a opening that's clean I would go for it.

Yeah I agree, the only part I wouldn't pass is the fast uphill left as it's ungentlemanly to the guy on the outside (might force them into sand) and not easy to see the road. That and we do not brake there so passing is unlikely.

the schumacher s , yes there is no way 2 cars should be side by side going thru that high speed s , its even quite tricky when in the draft of someone.

I said there are only 2 overtaking zones on the track but only 1 where real overtaking will take place , ofcourse passes can happen anywhere but i always pinpoint a part of a track where i can easily pass someone. get in their draft and outbrake them to the corner usually a chicane or low speed corner .

You can pass wherever you like, but its your responsibility when making a pass to do so cleanly, I think SkengD was just saying he see's 2 places where a clean pass is easy

The last sector is easily the best place for overtaking I'm finding, mainly the home straight. The rest of the track is too narrow and awkward.

Spa is immense

Spa is fantastic, I did some laps in it yesterday and I'm amazed how well has been done

EDIT: Soopa is right, I putted down a 2.13 lap time without a specific setup.... but now back to Nurb GP

How are your times gprilli ? You were very close to a race win last race

I ran a 52.3 last night in practice with allascato and neal , hope I can pull that out in qualifying
