I feel your pain, I was at least a second slower with the controller, I had to bear the pain of my injured knee to drive with my wheel last week and I still performed badly!! I probably shouldn't have done that as my knee is still pretty bad now, lots of painkillers before the race this week should see me through :)

I have a teammate I'd like in mind, although after this seasons performance would totally understand if I ended up an independant, I will be taking it seriously next season though so I'm sure I'll do better. ;)
Mostly I want to give a GT-R a go though so will pick the one I want and see if anyone joins me :)

I'll team up with you Soopa. I can sacrifice and run a GTR with you.

If not, I'm going with a NSX since I haven't run one yet in the league and believe it can be formidable at several tracks we run.

Good news the company send tomorrow a new wheel maybe i get it friday i hope it.

Well I will have no chance of getting a teammate for next season!

Anyone got any tuning tips for my Castrol TOM's 97? I use RKM Motorsports tune but not sure if it is the best out there..

Sweet, you're the man I had in mind :) Would love to see you kicking some arse in an NSX but I'd like to run the WOODONE GT-R, just based on looks though, I assume it doesn't have some disadvantage I'm unaware of....? It did win at Suzuka last season so I guess its a potential champion.

p.s I promise to put in the practise and take things seriously next season ;)

It's getting there, I think going back to the wheel too early has probably set it back but I couldn't bare another race with the DS3, fingers crossed you get your wheel in time 👍

Cannot get used to this wheel, really need a cheap alternative to a wsp, there is no way I'm gna b able to get one. Any ideas?

I use a desk when I'm playing with my PC monitor and I use a TV table Tray when I play in the living room. The TV tray is stable enough to drive a Super GT car and under. Also I can't drift with the TV tray. My desk is much more stable I race with that more often now.

I didn't add to the discussion earlier because I was busy but I did want to show you what I use:

I custom build these for the demanding racer who wants cockpit performance in the real world where space can be limited.

It stores in a small space:

Good practice last night with Montal , Neal and Immortal . I ran a 33 7 in the race with the aid of draft but it is a positive look .

Analyzing the 10 lap race we ran I could keep up with Montal and match his tire wear so I might just do a 1 stop if the race calls for it , looks like Immortal has tire wear issues so that is good news to all of us.

Immortal will definetely get pole here unless he makes a mistake so I will be trying my best to get that other spot on the front row.

This race will be the toughest one yet in my opinion , its very hard to follow here , you have the urge to push and usually end up touching the wall . If I am patient and luck is on my side Friday I can surely make the podium and even possibly win this race . Pole and fastest lap belongs to Immortal though.

@Garagefather:

They look great, I like the new colour scheme, I'd like black/silver but black/red works.

How much do you want for one of these bad boys? what would shipping to UK cost?

I.am.very.jealous.
Sadly I don't think it'll fit a G27 or I'd have one.
Oh and I noticed the cupholder, nice!

I'm trying out this Lupo gti league this evening , ill be practicing for this league after that.

My lounge will be open around 9 pm , one more day to go til raceday

It is custom built so it can fit any wheel given the correct dimensions. The wheel mount can be drilled for bolt on wheels and the pedal rest can be enlarged for the larger high end pedal sets.

The next run will incorporate a larger pedal rest for this reason, since a lot of the pedal sets out there are pretty big.

I am also trying to track down the bolt patterns on Fanatec wheels and I am wondering if all the bolt on units have a standardized pattern that I can predrill the wheel mount for.

Like I said, it is completely custom so anything is possible for a price.:)

I must say it looks very professional,I can't get a wheel stand in Singapore until I pay up around 250+USD.
And it's pretty cool that you've got the equipment to make these things.
Don't tell me you've got a milling machine or something at home.:P

And the price is...?

I'm looking for something less than £93 delivered (wheelstandpro price inc shipping). So with shipping from the US I'm not sure if you'll be able to beat that!? Although being made of wood I guess its gonna be a lot lighter than the WSP

I would get a seat if I had room for one...

I'm in the same boat as you soopa. I already have somewhere to sit I just need something to hold my wheel that don't take up much room.

I have access to a machine shop but built these at home. I did cheat and make some drill fixtures on the mill for precision. I use the fixtures to drill all the holes in the base which allows precise fit.

There is no way I could compete with the Wheel Stand Pro. It is much simpler and light duty. There is no angle adjustment for the pedal rest on the WSP. There isn't as much adjustment on the wheel mount either. The whole thing is made out of light duty tubular steel which is much lighter overall than my stand which weighs at least 60lbs (never checked yet). I am sure under aggressive use, the WSP will move all over, especially side to side. From what I hear, guys that have it have to modify it to make it stiffer and prevent it from moving side to side when aggressively turning due to the force feedback.

I personally haven't tried it but I always admired the simplicity and think it would be far better than a TV tray table or computer desk because at least you can adjust it to suit you and it stores in a small space which makes it practical for the average racer who can't give up the room for a cockpit. You can adjust wheel tilt, height and distance from wheel to pedal which is important.

The Pro Am Racing Wheel Stand takes all those adjustments into consideration as well. Wheel to pedal distance can be adjusted without limiting wheel height and tilt angle which most cockpit designs suffer from even though they cost far more. Then try and put them in your closet for storage. Not going to happen unless you have walk in closets you don't use. If you are a college guy living in an apartment or dorm, cockpits are out of the question. My concept has always been Professional performance for the average racer hence the "Pro Am" name. Professional performance for the Amateur.

That is why I have worked to develop a concept that gives you all the performance of a cockpit with the storage capabilities of a WSP. This is no tinker toy. It is precision built with machined jigs and the hand craftsmanship of the Garage father. All the fasteners are machine screws with metal threaded inserts in the wood for precision and strength. The pics may not do it justice but when you see it in person, you can see the obvious build quality. It far surpasses the cheaper competition and makes the WSP look like a coat rack.

All these things considered, I cannot sell the unit for any less than $250 US plus shipping. That puts the unit somewhere between the WSP and Cockpit designs and about $100 US less than the cheapest Play seat(w/o any accessories $350 US plus shipping). Then you have to live with Pedal rest angle because it is fixed on the Playseat at about 30-45 Degrees and other cockpits like the Fanatec Rennsport, Human Racing GT chassis cockpit, and pretty much all the others that inexplicably omit any angle adjustment on the pedal rest and just leave the pedals flat on the chassis base. These are high end cockpits that cost hundreds more and some over $1000 US before you buy the wheel! Not practical for most of us.

No offense but I would just as soon spend my time racing than out in the garage building high end racing stands for charity. I built one for myself because I couldn't buy a decent unit that I liked and that also met all of my needs, and once friends saw it I had to build three more. Now, I think I have an idea that can really sell to the right crowd as long as the expectations are realistic about the costs. If I partner with a manufacturer who can mass produce these, then the price would come down. I am still working on that as well as getting patents. I am sure since I posted them on GTplanet that several people are already trying to copy it for themselves. I say good luck to them. It isn't as simple as it might look. Most people lack the skills and precision craftsmanship that is required to pull it off correctly, let alone the tools. The Garage Father has all of the above.

Besides, do you want to mount your $500 thrustmaster or fanatec wheel on a $150 dollar wheel stand pro? That's like putting a Ferrari engine in Ford Pinto.

Ran a 33 8 today and felt yes I've made a breakthrough .
