Midnight Racing Club - GT500 Season 2: Rd.10 Nürburgring 24H 23rd Dec

Well my slow times are finally making some sense ive always ran with the default downforce and for the monza race i actually took off a lot of downforce

Since this is my first full season I will just do a lot of testing and see what works best , when i chose the Calsonic i thought it would have a massive advantage like the RB6 or RB7 but I still have a lot of work to put in

Yesterday my best time was a 1 55 0xx , gonna max the downforce and do some testing now

I must say I appreciate and love that everyone seems so open to share their settings and tips , I've raced in other leagues that were quite the opposite

now running low 54's but nowhere near a 1 53

i have to take a lot out of the tires to get good times , i wonder if its better to just be consistent in the low 1 55's and make it a 1 stop race , hmmm

what was the strategy last season at suzuka ? 1 stop or 2 stop ?

I'm getting the hang of my Supra. My best time is in the low 1:56 range and my tune is set pretty good but still trying to perfect the corners looking forward to R1 Friday.

doing medium to low 1:55's is the best bet...Softs will last 12-13 laps...👍

From memory the top drivers did a 1 stop, I did 2 and I think if it weren't for my mistakes it would've been close at the finish, I was catching fast at the end of their stints.

Lobby closed.

Had fun with Phil and the other guys.
Best lap so far 1:53.700 with some room for improvement.

53 700 in a lexus , i wonder what times garagefather is doing so far
I have only been running 1:54.8 or so on my best lap. I believe the '06 is even slower than the '08. I wouldn't have picked it had I known the difference. The thing eats tires to boot. My lousy times get worse pretty quick. The aero on the '06 is less advanced than the '08. You can see the changes pretty easily in the dealership if you know what you are looking for. When I picked the car, I honestly thought all the SC430s were the same base car and the same year. Wrong.

Hopefully next season we can pick in the order we finish and not be bumped by newcomers. In reality, I should have picked 9th and this would have never happened. I chose not to complain about it because I thought the Bandai was basically the same as the Denso SC430 that I originally was going to pick. Now that I know that is not the case, I can't help but feel frustrated about how things went down. Hindsight is 20/20.

I'll trade with you. I have tested the Bandi SC430 I am getting the same lap times and tire wear. I could share my setup with you if you like.

Anyone want to trade the ARTA NSX with my DENSO SC430?

I'll run a test and let you know, could you PM your setup so I can give it a quick blast?

EDIT: I did a quick run and can't get anywhere with the Lexus, I'm not great at tuning but think it's more the fact its the first time I've driven an SC430..

Room for another? This will be my first series so looking forward to it! What dose "FR on PSN" mean?

We're full at the moment and have 2 in reserve, you can be 3rd reserve and I'll PM you as soon as a space opens up, last season several signed up but didn't turn up and this season anyone who doesn't turn up for the first race without prior warning or quits mid race will be booted in favour of a reserve ;) FR is Friend Request, I run the races in my lounge so you need to friend me on PSN to get in...

Too late now. I have no time to start over. I have a good tune for the car that is really stable. My tires last enough for a 2 stopper so I am good there. My times are just slow compared to what others are running.

I hope that the times posted are as unrealistic as they were last season. Many drivers posted times they couldn't come close to on race day. Either they just had one great lap in practice or the settings for their room were different than the host. I found that the race quality setting effects my times so I always run very high in my lounge like Soopa does for the race. Or, they are using practice mode and not running in their online lounge. Running offline is completely different than online. (I can't say for sure after the update if that has changed). They could also neglect to put on tire wear and real grip reduction which could have a positive effect on their times.

So, I will stick with my car and hope that the times being posted are pie in the sky as usual. Regardless, I know Gprilli's times are honest and repeatable times. I will also hope that like last season, when I join Soopa's lobby, that my times improve. For some reason I could always run a bit faster in Soopa's lobby than my own.

Trying to be optimistic after a rough start to season 2.:)

My pace is still around 1'56 or 1'55 high, tyre wear is horrible and unfortunately this is too much realistic. :guilty: :ouch:

Garage_father, did you find helpful my setup?

@Garagefather: I hear what you're saying, people often quoted times they never reached on race day and there can be a few reasons for it, offline practising will not be the same and even online lobbies/lounges can be different. Would be nice if PD got everything running consistantly... I'm way off pace according to what people are posting but I'm not worrying about it yet, I'm sure whatever happens I'll get a good race with someone and thats all that matters to me ;)

GT5 is puking on me,keeps signing out of PSN and will not connect to others lounges.:grumpy:

If Forza 4 is good with the wheel (I suspect it is because even with a controller it feels real) I will be extermely tempted to switch to an Xbox...

Please keep talk of the dirtbox off my thread

I do have one gathering dust but I won't be switching to Forza 4 ;)

Did you try to clean GT5 cache? Did you also tried to open right ports on your router? Are you using cable connection or wireless connection?

Hope this can help.

In order to have GT5 working flawlessly on-line besides clear your cache from the in-game options/network menu it's better to open, for the PS3 IP, the following ports on your firewall (from GT5 manual inside the game):

TCP 80
TCP 443
TCP 5223
TCP 10070-10080
UDP 3478
UDP 3479
UDP 3658
UDP 5658
UDP 10070

and also, if it's possible in your router, to put the PS3 IP in the DMZ function.
This two operations will make possible to have less lag and room connection problems.

These are interesting web sites to help you operate your router to open the correct ports:

Garage_father, did you find helpful my setup?

I did not end up using any specific tune out of the 4 you sent me but it did give me some insight into the car. You had some radical settings on a few events and on some events you were similar to my current tune. I have reviewed about a half dozen tunes for the SC430 but they were all for the '08. I can't find one for the '06. Either way, my tune for the '08 GT-R worked pretty good on the '06 SC430 with a few minor changes. After trying several, I have settled on it for the best balance and tire wear.
