Since you appear to miss the old Minecraft sounds, there is a mod to switch them back to the old variants. I got Minecraft during Beta 1.5, and honestly I wish it could go back that way. Just for all the good nostalgia, and it just felt better. Yes, Minecraft is adding great new stuff, but I miss the older days of Minecraft before 1.8. 1.8 kind of ruined the vibe..

I installed it a long time ago. It didn't really make a difference. I mean, I was in an island base in the roleplay server when the sounds changed. I logged in and everyone was all, "WTF with the new sounds?" in global chat. No, the sounds don't take it back. It's that feeling of being a new player, everything is so different, you're clueless, and you just wander around. There's no way I can ever get that feeling again, because I'm not new anymore to Minecraft.

Perhaps you could install a massive mod/modpack (like Technic) so you could be clueless all over again? I recently downloaded Technic, and I'm so ****ing confused it's not even funny.

But yeah, I always thought that the "damage" sound was just a generic "damage" sound, or it had something to do with the health bar.

If they really wanted it to sound realistic they could improve on the sword sounds. Getting hit by a sword sounds like you're getting hit by a bat.

Get MCPatcher. It helps. I have been using it for a long while and it has fixed that problem many times.

I would use optifine instead of mcpatcher. The game will run much smoother.

If you have optifine you don't need MCPatcher. I thought they didn't work together anyway.

^ They don't. Optifine will be overwriting MCPatcher, however. Only use MCPatcher untill a week after MC updates (if you're using a Pre Release version of Optifine). The optifine guy himself told me it takes a bit more work for him to update the patch files.

Something is wrong or not working. Everytime I try to open any of my chests, it says "You dont have tlowr4's permission to do that". What the kitten is that supposed to mean?! It clearly says "Chukov" on the side of them, not tlowr. So I cant retrieve any of my items.

EDIT: Unable to get any items in Pandora, I went to the Creative world and built something. I think it'll be obvious once you see it.

EDIT: Ok, went around a little trying to do stuff, but it seems tlowr has blocked me from doing everything except placing blocks.

I placed the chest in the top of your house to replace your items you lost ages ago in a lag hole. That chest, because of the new plugin, is stuck under my name and since it's a single block, not a section used by a shovel, I can't give you permissions.

I'll get on and transfer them into one of your private chests with only your name on it using my magical powers. Then we'll see what happens.
