Guys? You think i could run Minecraft on my PC if i can run Sim City 4?
Sim City 4 isn't really demanding...
Minimum System Requirements (Sim City 4)
Operating System: Windows XP/ME/2000/98 (Windows 95/NT not supported)
CPU: 500 MHz Intel Pentium III or AMD Athlon processor
RAM: 128 MB
CD/DVD-Rom Speed: 8X
Hard Drive Space: 1 gig plus space for saved games
Video: 16 MB video card, DirectX 7 compatible
Sound: DirectX 7.0 compatible
Input: Keyboard, mouse

Recommended System Requirements
CPU: 1 GHz or faster
RAM: 256 MB or more
Video: 32 MB or greater supported Direct 3D video card
With those specs not really.

What's your CPU, RAM, GPU?

Its this: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/ASUS_A7SN

Hope you find what you need there :) Whats the GPU? Didnt see one there?
NVIDIA® GeForce® 9500M GS, 256MB VRAM (GDDR III type VRAM support)

That's the GPU

I see your system is very compareable to a P8600 + 320M notebook, which I have experience with.

It will run Minecraft on a good playable level depending on your settings. Singleplayer should never be an issue, unless you use some very high res texture packs. Sight can be set to normal and you should still hit good playable fps numbers. 32bit and 64bit texture packs will work though (64 is already very good looking for Minecraft). You can't use shader mods though (most people can't).

Online you may want to reduce sight to short (it's not a big issue), but with the right settings it's still good playable on an enjoyable level.

Definitely install the optifine mod: http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic...d3-fps-boost-hd-textures-aa-af-and-much-more/

I personally use the Ultra version, but I heard that on weak systems the other versions (standard/light) may be more efficient.
It will give you a ton of additional options. If you need help for a optifine setting for best performance ask me again. No worries, you adjust them in-game, no file editing needed.

Update your Java and give it a high system priority. Use 64bit Java if you have a 64bit system. Do terminate other not needed applications running in the background. Minecraft allocates by default 512MB of RAM (it uses only about 256MB without mods on max sight), which is more than enough if you don't install tons of mods.
Giving it more memory, as often recommended in online forums, will only take away memory for other things, which then could drastically slow down your system. A system should never use 100% of the avaible RAM, in your case 3gig.

Expect it to run at about 30fps. You can always check the fps by pressing F3 while playing. And in case you're worried now: You surely can use mods, the most do hardly slow down your system.

I was wanting to know if I could join you guys. My minecraft username is Failimanjaro. I have a friend who's been looking for a server to play on, but isn't a member of GTP. Is there any way he could get in?

The server isn't whitelisted, he can join whenever he wants. Play.torinet.eu is the adress.

Ehm... to become a member you have to do the queens trials if I'm right... or simply ask dquan to promote you. :dopey:
I saw a hundred villagers at spawn. You were the only one online!
Yeah, but before the villagers there were creepers.
