I'm sorry but this is starting to get a bit silly now.

John, your hardware cannot take what you are trying to throw at it.

I have so many redundant motherboards, RAM modules and CPU's lying around that I could send you two systems that could easily run this game.

In fact, I am offering just that. Give up on your current hardware. PM me your address and I will send you something. It wont be the most modern, but a Quad core LGA775 and something like an 8800GT would solve all your problems.

I can throw in a 450W power supply.

That would more than solve his problems.

For him that would feel like switching from Fiat to Ferrari.

Community effort!

It's time to upgrade John! We're here for ya!

Thanks, but no thanks. I figure I've spent most of my time complaining about the whole thing rather than discuss Minecraft. So I'll just end it right there.

It's a shame you don't get to play Minecraft Survival. Hopefully you will be able to do so one day. 👍

I welcome the Survival challenge, but I seem more interested in the Creative aspect of Minecraft. Maybe because I've loved art all of my life. Some people have made incredible structures and worlds using Minecraft. The surviving aspect is interesting. I'd hate to imagine dealing with Creepers. Then too, I also have to fear skeletons who'll fire arrows at you. I'd hate to imagine trying to fight the Ender Dragon.

To stay on topic, let me just say that I am very impressed with what all you can do with Minecraft and what is offered for users. Both the concept and the execution are impressive as to what you can do in this game. Even countless YouTube videos still never cease to amaze me what you can do in this game.

With some of the later builds and snapshots of Minecraft, I like the idea of the NPC villagers. The NPC Villagers are basically consistent with the mindset I have playing Minecraft Classic. I often create mini villages at times. Doing this around the Minecraft worlds is like creating an RPG using Minecraft. Usually, I make small red brick buildings, and I make some small cobblestone towers to represent temples and shrines. Exploring the world, I sometimes take the wood blocks (not the trees) to make wood bridges, wood floors, and wood ceilings. I like how every generated world has one of at least these features: grasslands, hills, deserts, coastal areas, canyons, forests, and even caves. Only such thing you won't get with Minecraft Classic are snowy/icy areas.

Speaking of later snapshots, I read there's supposed to be horses as one of the different Mobs. I am surprised there weren't horses in any earlier builds. Only excuse I'd accept is if maybe Mojang were trying to make them able to prance around or be ridden on. I do have a fondness for horses, and I'd feel happy riding horses if I were a Minecraft player. Only thing I wouldn't be certain of is doing horse racing, and I'm not into horse racing.

Even if you can play just Minecraft Classic, it is just fabulous what you can do playing this game.

How are you playing Minecraft Classic, anyways? I can't find it on Minecraft.net. Does it still have multiplayer?

How useful are minecarts and rail systems, exactly? I've got a ton of rails pilfered from a couple abandoned mineshafts, but I don't want to spend time building a big infrastructure for it if it is mostly aesthetic. The videos I've seen about them poking around don't really give me that much to go on for their usefulness compared to just walking.

They're useful if you plan on doing a lot of transportation between 2 places. Like, I recently had to move from an underground house to a smalll house across a desert. It was really helpful being able to have 2 Minecarts w/ chest and being able to send them off (via Minecarts w/ Furnaces) to the house while I finish up at the underground base.

It's only useful if you want to travel from and to homes, bases, and mineshafts with ease. It's really a time saver when you want to get more materials in the same amount of time.

Also a very efficient way to transport many resources. 👍

Going from A to B or transporting stuff from A to B.

For everything else, you could try Railcraft. I guess you don't like mods though.

I've added a mobs mod. They now look and behave slightly differently and can drop some very interesting items. :)

I'm playing Minecraft! That is... Minecraft Pocket. I have the demo right now playing it on my Samsung Galaxy Player 4.2. I thought the controls would be a bit awkward since I am using a touchscreen device. However, it seems to work pretty well and isn't too cumbersome. I do have enough Google Play money to perhaps get the full version. So I must say I am pleasantly surprised using Minecraft Pocket. Maybe if my PC couldn't play PC Minecraft, maybe I can enjoy Minecraft on a mobile device. Pretty cool so far.

I actually bought Minecraft Pocket Edition today. I am basically using it for Creative. I did, however, try Survival in Minecraft PE. I made an okay-looking first house. But first, I had to find my house in the dark. I was fine until I wasn't paying attention when zombies attacked me. A few axe swings in the demo saved my backside.

But again- my Minecraft experience is being done through the Pocket Edition. How I have played Minecraft Classic is how I am reshaping the Minecraft world in the Pocket Edition, but with many more options and details.

The control scheme is a bit strange using a touchscreen. Even I got accustomed to using the WASD + Mouse layout for Minecraft Classic. I had to change the size of the GUI controls in Minecraft Pocket so that it wouldn't impede most of my operating room when I bought Minecraft Pocket. Let me kind of describe what is different:

* PC: right click to place/use
* Mobile: tap screen to place

* PC: left-click to destroy
* Mobile: hold down touchscreen on highlighted block/item

That, at least, for Creative mode. You can either play locally or play on Realms with Minecraft Pocket. I still prefer getting accustomed to the Minecraft Pocket interface, so I'll leave Realms alone for some time. I am a bit surprised my portable media player (it is not a "phone") was able to play Minecraft Pocket. That's why I downloaded the demo. Usually, nothing shows up in Google Play unless you can actually use it on your device if you are using that mobile device to access Google Play. Other times, you get on Google Play on your PC and learn of what apps and games are compatible with your device(s). And for just a 2MB demo download and a 6MB full download, I was pretty happy to get to play this game and be able to play it. So my Minecraft experience will mostly be enjoyed with Minecraft Pocket. At least I'm playing Minecraft.

A few lighthearted notes I'd like to share... you know everything has its lovers and haters. It pains me that people can't look beyond the graphics of Minecraft to find how addicting it can be. Almost like every game has to be Farcry or Crysis or whatever graphics-wise to be worth enjoying. Really, I look at Minecraft like LEGO (I've loved LEGO since childhood). I mean... can't haters use their imagination with Minecraft? One other person talked about making s:censored:ty-looking houses with Minecraft. Man. But like they say- haters gonna hate.

Yeah, people do still hate on Minecraft for its graphics. Every modern game has to be hyper-realistic in every aspect to be worth playing to most people. I have seen those different shaders and HD packs and such for Minecraft. I even once seen an impressive-looking Minecraft world featuring a lot of Italian houses and structures. It looked beautiful. It's still the blocky goodness of Minecraft, just more beautiful for those who want to use such textures.

As I was exploring the Minecraft world generated in Minecraft Pocket, I came across an unusual setting. I was reshaping my quasi-RPG world when I came across a huge icy area. I quickly took the opportunity to explore this sort of area. What I ended up doing was build a simple shrine. Before I did this, I had a fear that it would be completely awkward to have a tower built on sheets on ice. So what I did was add plenty of dirt blocks for some stability. So you could say my kind of RPG world has various shrines or temples in various environments. It's probably fitting I found an icy locale since it's now Summer now. Exploration is one of the coolest aspects of Minecraft whether Creative or Survival.

I also learned how to fly in Creative mode. The center key allows you to jump when on foot; but if you double-tap the jump key, you can fly. You hold down the fly/jump key to float up or down. I found this to be much easier to build towers once I learned how to fly in Creative mode. This was especially helpful because when my world was being generated, there were some floating sand blocks in the air. What I wasn't expecting was for the individual blocks to fall from the sky... only AFTER I destroyed some of those blocks. Though it would be cool, I doubt I have any plans to construct a floating island (if that's possible in any version of Minecraft).

One note I forgot to mention from my last post... I set the difficulty at the easiest setting when I took on my first night in Survival in Minecraft Pocket. I doubt I'd survive a Minecraft Zombie Apocalypse or a rash of Creepers and Skeletons with the Minecraft experience I have so far.

Craft armor and a sword.

But the most important thing is to have a safe house so that mobs can't get in. And a bed somewhere, because the bed is at the same time your spawnpoint.

What happened to the mob drops, seems as though they were turned off.

Really liked getting Protection IX on swords though.

Yeah they were dropping way to much enchanted loot so I reduced the probability by quite a bit.
