Depends on how long ages is. If you haven't been here since the game first was in Beta, then oooohh boy, you have a lot to catch up on.
I'm pretty sure I fell of the minecraft train about 1.4? Hopped back on with a new laptop and just remebered GTP had it's own DQuan Server

Sorry for the long outage guys. The server is now back online. :)

Performance and lag should be greatly improved!

I'm so dissapointed in my house after seeing @homeforsummer's castle.
Hah! It did take me quite a while to build...

Thanks for the assistance in digging the huge hole I was working on - that's taken me several sessions to complete! Eventually it's going to be a high-tech house, but need to explore all those caverns around it first. After finding that zombie spawner I want to set up a zombie XP grinder too.

Incidentally, did it log you out when I disappeared? I don't really know how it works when the host leaves the game on the PS3 version.

No problem I waited a min to see what you were doing exactly so I didn't mess anything up

But yeah, you get kicked from the game when the host leaves.

Okay, gotcha. That's why I thought I'd send a quick message first to warn you, and waited a few mins before leaving just in case you had to finish anything!

Certainly easier mining with other people - there were quite a few mobs lurking in some of those caverns.

As promised, I managed to get a new PC and... I'm now able to play PC Minecraft! So I made my debut to PC Minecraft! Actually... I did this yesterday. I am mostly trying to settle into my new PC while exploring PC Minecraft. There is still a lot for me to learn after having been using PS3 Minecraft for months. So right now, I have yet to really explore and utilize PC Minecraft. I'm staying on the Creative side until I'm actually ready for the other levels of Minecraft (Survival, Adventure, etc.).

But... I'm the newest member of the PC Minecraft club.

Nice one John! Hope to see you in the server soon. Let me know when you're going on and I'll give you a tour. :)

You shouldn't try Adventure mode, unless you're doing adventure maps. You cannot break or place (Unsure about that one) blocks.

With the latest Snapshot (Don't know about 1.7.9) You can break specific blocks when asked (or placed on specific blocks) when in adventure mode.

I think you have to set it up in command blocks, and I think that's too complicated!

Anyone checked out Minecraft Realms yet? Presumably it just allows multiplayer on a server hosted by Mojang rather than by one of the players. Are the worlds the same size, as this isn't clear on their site or the MC wiki?

In my first time creating things in Minecraft PC, I took note of all the different blocks and features available. Among a lot of the different blocks and textures are taller grass, lots more varieties of flora (like lilac), and more. Much greater array of vegetation. I'm pretty sure if I were to abuse filling grass with Bonemeal, I'd have an extremely green world. I mostly changed up the controls to better suit my playing style. However, since I've been so accustomed to the PS3 Minecraft, I wanted to take my old USB gamepad and set it up more like PS3 Minecraft. I am somewhat getting used to using a mouse and a keyboard at the same time to navigate and make actions. Despite this, I went ahead and made my home around the start point. I later went on to create my first town not far from my home in that world.

I used MCEdit just to see how it would work with my current PC Minecraft world. There was a script I used in a program called Qubicle Constructor that allows you to make Minecraft schematics either from scratch or from models you've created. I haven't yet tested it out. Since I have a better PC than previously and since this PC is more powerful, there is much less lag. I still haven't tried out placing my Minecraft schematics into my Minecraft world via MCEdit. Some of the concepts I created were floor plans I had in play for even Minecraft Pocket Edition. Because some ideas I came up with stem from things not available in Minecraft Pocket Edition or PS3/XBOX, now is a chance for me to see what I (honestly) have been missing in designing things using blocks and features from PC Minecraft. For example, my worlds are populated with individual shrines and temples. Part of progress through trying to save these worlds is for Beacons to shoot light upwards from them at the right locations.

I will not be doing Hardcore mode. Forgive me if not being "hardcore" makes me less of a person, but trying to survive in such a world is almost completely unfair saying that you have only one life and that you can only use that world only once. That also kind of ties into my "everything has to have purpose" philosophy I carry on in all of my online work.

My rookie education with PC Minecraft continues. It probably won't be long until I am eventually as good with PC Minecraft as I am with PS3 Minecraft.

I play Survival at "Easy" skill level, perhaps that makes me a lightweight but I find it plenty challenging. I play most other games at Normal, then Hard or equivalent if I run through them again, but for MC Easy seems just right for me. I'm currently at an outpost I made in some plains purely to spot and kill Endermen (it's a sort of watch tower) but I still often get absolutely clobbered if I hop down and accidentally take two or more on, with sundry zombies and skeletons in tow.

Not unless you are a map creator and a genius to redstone. Then it's easy.

But anyways most adventure maps use adventure mode and commandblocks, So it's possible that you might be "breaking" or "placing" stuff.

Good news everyone! /Farnsworth.

Tomorrow my internet is being upgraded from 30mb to 50mb. I'm not sure what my upload will be but hopefully that will go up a little as well (It varies from between 1.5 and 2mb at the moment).

Better upload means less lag. :)

And we are updated!! 50mb down, 3mb up. :)

Please note that this has caused my IP to change. I have updated the record for play.torinet.eu but it could take up to 24 hours to go though. You can connect using the IP address instead which is 82.11.92.153

You know, I noticed something when I played Minecraft last night. I sampled the "Super Secret Settings." I didn't notice what this did until I kind of looked at the environment. I began to notice certain effects, like motion blur for example. I got freaked out and eventually went back to the original sort of world settings.

Since the Minecraft PC world is more infinite than Pocket or PS3/XBOX Minecraft, I've had some trouble trying to remember where Home is. So with my Creative world, I added a Compass to help me remember where Home is. Something I am planning on doing is add a pyramid to my house with a Beacon atop it to help me remember where my main home is in the Minecraft world I'm in. I have made some other structures with Beacons primarily to note certain important structures in my world. I may just get rid of those just to avoid extra confusion. Otherwise, I would easily be lost navigating my Minecraft world. Being lost isn't fun, especially considering the times in Minecraft PS3 that I would be lost when I am exploring underground caves. It also doesn't help when certain Creepers underground or something blow up behind you or destroy important markers to help you find your way around.

Something else I did was create a Superflat world to test out making and placing Schematics. I haven't yet created anything in that world.

The PC Minecraft education continues for me...

If you press F3 on PC it brings up a lot of information and some of that is X Y Z co-ordinates. So simply go to your house jot down the X Y Z and when you get lost press F3 and use that to navigate back.

This pic shows what I mean. On the left the second chuck of info has X Y Z info

Yeah, I actually saw parts of a video recently that introduced me to using the F3 key in Minecraft to determine coordinates. Thanks for the suggestion, though.

If you guys didn't know, there is a wiki for the game. Pretty much everything is in there, and there was once even suggestions for what you could add on to your house, but that is removed now. Or, atleast, it has been made very difficult to find.

I use this a lot, and simply note down the location of strongholds, villages and whatnot, as well as my home. The axes are a little odd though, you would usually expect the vertical axis to be z but you get used to it.

Personally, I find maps a little useless, especially when you start exploring vast areas. Co-ordinates and beacons/markers FTW! Even the compass only points to your original spawn point, not your home or respawn bed/point.

On another note since I started playing this again recently and downloaded 1.7.9 I've noticed a few odd behaviours with cats and dogs. Firstly I'm pretty sure that previously when they were up to full health you couldn't feed them any more, but now it seems you can keep feeding them indefinitely, the hearts just keep appearing.

Also I took a little army of 8 cats and 2 dogs into a stronghold/mine/cave system to clear it out (I'd been clobbered 3 times and lost nearly all of the items so needed all the help I could get!) and whilst they seem more intelligent now by not walking into lava or falling off high places, I also didn't notice/hear them die. Gradually I would lose stragglers along the way until there was just one cat, then when I checked again I'd lost him too (I ended up exploring extensively and doing some more mining). I assumed they'd perished but pretty sure you used to hear a loud miaow/yelp when this happened. So maybe they got stuck along the way behind doors etc. but I thought they automatically "catch up", also when I retraced my steps they were nowhere to be seen.

Anyone else noticed this behaviour? The feeding is more of a biggie as I can be a little OCD about that, I guess I should just leave them til their tails droop and they start growling and whatnot :)

Random musings again...

The Superflat world I created in Minecraft was finally put to the test with schematics I made. Through MCEdit, I successfully imported all of my designs I made originally through Qubicle Constructor. All I had to do was properly align everything. Only problem I faced was that one of my schematics had a pool that wasn't covered, as I noticed a stream of water gushing from one of the schematics I made. At least I know that whatever I create will work. So I'm happy. Most of my creations are mostly of the "Some Assembly Required" variety, which is cool with me. I at least have created the base models based on certain materials like bricks and water among others. I may never create any seriously crazy models, but I at least know what is surely possible by building certain schematics piece-by-piece. Build and place schematics followed by adding extra stuff to make them proper and useful. That's what I plan to do with my Creative worlds.

I successfully was able to mount a horse in Minecraft. However, I didn't get to do much else with the horse. I saw the bat mob for the first time. They mostly flew around the dark spaces in my Superflat Creative world.

I started a new Minecraft world in Minecraft PC. This time, I took on the Survival challenge. One thing I loved about Pocket and PS3/XBOX Minecraft is in being able to craft items simply by having the certain items available. It is tougher in PC Minecraft because you have to draw out the individual items you want to create. The items I know how to create were created through my Crafting Table. Here are as many items I remember creating in my first PC Minecraft Survival foray: Wooden Planks, sticks, Crafting Table, wooden sword, wooden pickaxe, bed, furnace, chest, torch, charcoal, and a wooden door.

My PC ran unusually slow as I was spawned in the middle of a jungle. I was still punching wood just to eventually find a place to call my home pad. The space I called my home was pretty much complete. I didn't battle any monsters. Day one was all about building a home and furnishing it as much as I could with the resources I had. I was killing sheep and cows just to have something to eat as well as build up resources. I have not engaged in battle with monsters as of this post. I'm pretty sure I will eventually face monsters as well as eventually head to The Nether and The End.

Still a lot for me to experience in PC Minecraft, but I'll eventually be able to say I've become more adept in the PC Minecraft realm as I have been in PS3 Minecraft.

Since my proper Creative world from Minecraft PS3 was more like a Survival World than a Creative one, I took the Seed number from that world and put it into my Minecraft PC world. I also cranked up the difficulty from Peaceful to Easy. The first enemy I encountered and killed were two spiders. Then, I nearly defeated a Creeper. I missed one other Creeper. I then killed a baby zombie. But then, I ended up being killed by a zombie and a baby zombie. I even encountered my first Enderman in PC Minecraft, but I didn't fight him.

Because I struggled to find proper animals, I had to rely on eating Rotten Flesh just to get the hunger meter back to the full 10 units. I then eventually just fell back to losing hunger points. This is a much tougher ordeal for me in PC Minecraft compared to the (I'll be honest) spoiled aspect of having powerful items playing PS3 Minecraft's Tutorial Mode.

So I've now had some monster-battling experience to go with my other PC Minecraft experiences.
