I cannot wait for a better computer! :D

Meanwhile, Mr. Peasant here has done a bit of work on his home. Now has an integrated farm with a lookout window to another farm!

And the view from the other farm:

And of course, a skeleton farm was needed to get bonemeal, so I got that too!

Two of the trickiest aspects of Minecraft are rail systems and redstone circuitry. With my PC Minecraft Creative world, I am wanting to try to make my own rail system to get to certain parts of my world more efficiently and faster. I successfully made a rail system in PS3 Minecraft before. Now, it's about trying to make a system for PC Minecraft.

As for redstone circuits, I've made a few basic items like pressure plates to open iron doors in PS3 Minecraft. No actual Redstone was used, though. I just placed a pressure plate near an Iron Door to get it to open. It opened a little greenhouse I made in one of my cities. I am also considering using Redstone circuitry for things like those Redstone Lamps and various pistons.

One program I've used to try to keep track of my Minecraft worlds is a program called Minutor. It displays a top-down view of your Minecraft world and even breaks down individual elements of your world into the different biome types. I even like how it offers a look at your world at night along with maps of The Nether and The End. This program helps me sort of keep track of what I've explored so far. It is recommended you don't play Minecraft while using Minutor. Otherwise, you'll have to reload Minutor to see your map after you've made some changes to the world(s) you created and modified.

Having such procedural worlds allows you to see and explore so much of your world(s) as possible. Granted my Minecraft world isn't Torinet, my world still feels fairly massive for what I've explored so far. The Creative world I'm working with has a lot of plains and a good bit of beaches. One section has extreme hills that dominate most of a continent. Further away from the main spawn point, there are a lot of snowy plains. Part of me wants to make my own ice spike area among the snowy plains of my world. Sadly, I have yet to find any desert land or perhaps any mesa land. The closest I've come are just a bunch of beach sections. The sort of biome I actually like is the flower forest biome. Seeing all the flowers and trees together are beautiful in Minecraft. While exploring my world, I saw my first huge mushrooms as well as my first roofed forest biome. I could imagine the Survival challenge of being in the roofed forest since it is obviously dark there.

Only other thing I can chat about is that I built my first Nether portal in my Minecraft world. Since I'm doing everything on Peaceful in Creative mode, I can't say I've defeated any Ghasts or anything.

And those are my latest Minecraft ramblings.

Any pics of your pc world?

Hi all,

After a bit of a hiatus due to work, I'm back on @DQuaN's server.

I'm actually using a DS3 controller compatibility driver because my laptop is ill-equipped for using the full keyboard layout, and I'm so used to PS3 Minecraft I don't find it a hardship anyway - the only thing I need the keyboard for is crafting, which is easy enough with the touchpad mouse. And I find sticks far easier to use than W/A/S/Z movements.

Anyway, that's besides the point.

I've had a bit of an explore around spawn, accidentally fallen to my death a few times, explored the city world and died a few times there since nothing is lit up and mobs spawn everywhere

My question is, where has everyone set up their own bases? Close to spawn, or miles away? My only familiarity with server Minecraft is watching vids on youtube, such as the Mindcrack lot, where spawn is a village and pretty active. Whereas this server seems more like a placeholder, and I assume everyone is doing their own builds further afield. It'd be nice to visit other peoples' builds just to see what kinda stuff is going on. Anyone got any directions to their bases?

Check out the dynmap. You'll see the whole map, plus the areas that people have claimed. :)

*edit*
and good to see you back! :)

Console Minecraft apparently got an update. The only real changes I've seen were two new texture packs- a candy-themed texture pack and a natural-themed texture pack. I am still enjoying my PC Minecraft experience. I haven't done too much redstone experimenting, but I was successfully able to utilize the Redstone Lamps by building a simple redstone circuit and a pressure plate. I kind of want to experiment using the Daylight Sensor. I know what it can do, but I haven't yet tried it out with redstone circuitry.

While I want to keep Minecraft as original as possible, I almost want to make/modify a texture pack. Maybe it's something I want to try out in the future.

Are you on the server, @JohnBM01?

Just started my own project there. Have an idea of what I'd like to build and in theory it shouldn't be too difficult. I have, however, placed myself in an area with very few natural resources. Once I've built a small base it may be time for resource hunting further afield.

Should be on more regularly now, anyway. Much happier using a console controller.

I may come online later, but that is if my Internet isn't being stupid and I would have to just check on my own server first.

Okay, I'm at said coordinates. You'll have to show me where your shelter, though - I can't find it. :D

Oh, I got tons of that (and almost anything else *cough* *cough*); no worries.
Ugh, having connection and lag issues.

Yep. I can see you logging in and out in a matter of a few seconds. Do you have an idea on what might be causing this issue? Java?
Hard to tell. I can't remember what the message coming up said was wrong, but it appeared that the server itself was kicking me out. My internet was a bit slow at the time but everything else works (like GTP) so it's not my connection breaking up.

Hey DQ, is there any chance you can turn off PvP? Also, I made a Nether Portal but can't light it. Finally, is there a village in the Highlands?

I am not on the Torinet server. While I'd love to visit, I don't think I'll settle or claim any land on that server. I'd mostly just want to visit and see in-game versions of what the dynmap is like. I don't want to ruin others' progress or anything.

Yesterday, I practiced more with Redstone and with rails.

With Redstone, I played around with Pressure Plates. I got a bit experienced using Pistons. I found Sticky Pistons to be pretty effective for some things I was creating. At one point, I even tried out the Daylight Sensor. I am not sure how I would use that device if I were making something. For the most part, I have thought of the Daylight Sensor more like Minecraft's version of a solar panel. You can make some clever devices if you know how to use Redstone. I next want to practice using the Redstone Repeater and the complicated Redstone Comparator.

Now on to rails. I was practicing making a rail system to connect from the home area to certain other points of my Minecraft world. One goal I accomplished was being able to create certain stops to get off at in case you wanted to visit some city or something. You know, more like a traditional mass transit system. I had to view a certain YouTube video that helped me to better plan such a rail system. The stops for each of the stop zones are mostly areas leading to certain cities in my Minecraft world. I am no stranger to trying to develop these systems, considering I have SimCity experience. I want to further develop this rail system to better travel across the land.

Besides these two things, I've become less fearful of using TNT in PC Minecraft. It's about the most effective way to clear land for development. You just have to use the TNT carefully along with the Flint and Steel tool. I am also realizing that you need to equip a horse with a Saddle to be able to use it. I haven't successfully controlled a horse yet.

The highlands are a completely separate ma, created using the AMPLIFIED modifier. You can get to it by going to spawn, walking down the steps, and then using the cannon travel. You can also see it in the dynmap, if you bring up the menu on the right hand side, it's the bottom map. Make sure you select "surface" and not "flat" to see the full effect. It looks like a really good map imo. Nothing can prepare you for when you get there. The whole map is mountains 120 or more high. You will fall to your death. A lot!

I have no idea if there are any villages there, I haven't explored it much. PvP I'd like to keep on unless it becomes a problem.

The netherportal may be outside one of your claims which would restrict your use of fire. I can light it for you.
