Mini Clubman Vision Gran Turismo Discussion Thread

I think it looks really sweet. I'd like to see some of the newer MINi's in the game. The JCW Roadster/Coupe would be nice, aswell as an All4 Countryman. It would be really cool if they put in a LoTSC R52 Sidewalk. But I'm happy with this VGT

 D. No surprises!

I like how the Mini VGT headlamps have the crossed black-tape style used in old rally cars to stop the headlight case from falling off. The Alpine VGT's blue racing variant is not alone in this idea now.

It will be interesting to hear how PD does the sound on this Mini.

The only people as far as I know that have gotten the new Mini samples right is T10 with Forza.

I guess since PD was bang on with the Mazda VGT, maybe this will be another surprise.

It's the VGT. Those X headlights kind of gives it away.

Nice homage, btw.

A proper 60's vintage Cooper S in "Premium" trim would be nice. :)

I'd like to point out that is NOT a thread to post your wishlists about what other Minis you would like in GT. This thread is to discuss the teasers and sketches for the Mini Vision GT.

Thank you.

Those sort of posts should be posted as the very first post of this sort of threads. Too bad that some still fail to understand the actual objective... Oh well, a wise move on your part nonethless. :)👍

Meanwhile, as I am listening to the OST of the Italian Job PS1 soundtrack (not kidding here), I am happy to see the Mini joining the VGT family. Mini was one of those brands that worked in complete silence, and then they're all "Oh look! Our car is almost ready, you guys!". And of course, our only reaction is "Wait, what!?" While I am a bit disappointed that it won't be a Superleggera VGT (if there's any modern Mini concept that deserves a VGT makeover, it's this one), but hey, the idea of a fire-breathing wagon-esque racing car is not a bad one either. And now we have three VGTs on the waiting list, don't mind if PD keeps adding more. The more the merrier, as they say...

I found some interesting info about the Mini Clubman Vision Gran Turismo. According to Bimmertoday (seems to be a German BMW orientated online plattform), the Mini Clubman VGT will have 395 hp, a 4 wheel drive system, a virtual top speed of 290 kph and it (virtually) goes from 0-100 kph in 3.5 seconds.

Here's the link for you to check it out: http://www.bimmertoday.de/2015/02/24/mini-clubman-f54-als-vision-gran-turismo-auf-die-playstation/

Very interesting, if the data is correct, it'll be even less powerful than the Alpine VGT. Too bad it's 4WD, I wouldn't mind a MR-style car. That 0-100 kp/h time is bonkers though, the car has to be very light if it can hit such a mark...

Considering that it has 4WD, a racing gearbox, (presumably) racing tyres and a kerbweight likely between 700kg and 1100kg, it's not a remarkable 0-100 time at all.

This is a Mini we're talking about here.

Of course, I haven't forgotten that bit. But it is not your average small Mini we're talking about here. Of course, VGT has a way with lightweight cars, so I am not ruling out that either. Also, interestingly enough, the article @Nico_Ble99 posted has words from Mini designers about the car. Apparently, it'll has the image of a "go-kart", so to speak. Here's the quotes in German:

Edit: Never mind, @MatskiMonk has posted an English version of the page. Thanks mate. 👍

Dear MINI and BMW,

You killed your chance of basing it off of this.

A sad reality, but a true one. Many will share that though, I'm sure. (me included) It's unfortunate that BMW/Mini didn't think of this when they were creating the VGT sketches. Then again, BMW also killed the chances of their VGT car being based on an i8, so it's not like it is a new thing to do...

You can't really blame them for wanting something more reminiscent of the brand, rather than a purist sports coupe that happens to have a Mini badge on the front. The diversity of the brands involved is something i like about the VGT program: they're not all just 500+bhp crazily proportioned super cars/race cars.

BMW VGT was NEVER based on the i8. Their VGT, and this, are/were based around cars about to hit the market. In the case of the BMW it was the 2 series coupe, andd in this case it's the new Clubman. It's a marketing tool for them, the road version of the Superleggera is some way off yet.

Actually, I was refering to the early BMW VGT sketch. If you can see it, you'll notice that it had clues from the i8. Of course, BMW changed it later, as you said to promote cars that were already in the market. I can understand the marketing behind the choices, it's just a pity that Mini decided to promote the Clubman in lieu of the Superleggera. It makes sense, of course.

I never saw any connection (even here and here back in 2013) with the i8 and the BMW VGT. Superleggera is still some way off yet, you never know, we may get it for GT7
