Mini Clubman Vision Gran Turismo Discussion Thread

I haven't driven it for myself yet, but I'm a little disappointed by this being a VGT car. Isn't it supposed to be the car manufacturers idea of how cars will be in 20 years from now? I know some of the others haven't exactly pushed boundaries far, but this looks like a (rather good, it should be noted) facelift.

Umm, that intro video. Real world driving and the graphics of Nordschliefe. It of course was done by MINI.... BUT! Something to look forward to in GT?

Just bought all of them...Enjoy!

Car Info:

"Inspired by the legendary motor sport successes of the brand, the MINI design team created the MINI Clubman Vision Gran Turismo: the essence of a MINI for total racing. The 395 PS (389 HP) drive accelerates the lightweight 1,050 kg of the MINI Clubman Vision Gran Turismo from 0 to 62 mph in a mere 3.5 seconds. The permanent 4WD and 6-speed sequential transmission with race gearbox guarantee optimum power transmission. The McPherson dampers in the front and HA3 dampers at the rear are both fully adjustable and ensure perfect adherence in any situation. This Clubman can achieve a top speed of up to 180 mph, depending on the gear ratio (specific for each race track.)

The characteristic silhouette of the MINI Clubman Vision Gran Turismo lies flat on the road, and the wheels are positioned far outside the body to allow the car to handle like a go-kart. Adjustable carbon diffusers in the front and rear and large vents behind the wheel arches regulate the airflow for cooling the engine and brakes. The split rear spoiler and fully enclosed underbody enhance the sophisticated aerodynamics.

MINI design features such as the flat, hexagonal front grill, ellptical headlights with implied racing-design stickers, and rally stripes on the hood and roof demostrate the clear motor racing sport orientation of the MINI Clubman Vision Gran Turismo. Quick release hinges on the hood and tank and the small sliding window on the side add the perfect finishing touches to the classic appearance of the MINI Clubman Vision Gran Turismo."

388 hp / 6,500 rpm
315 ft-lb / 2,000 rpm
1,050 kg
532 PP

There are no upgrades to purchase. Only oil change and chassis reinforcement, er, "improve body rigidity."

After said upgrades:

408 hp / 6,500 rpm
331 ft-lb / 2,000 rpm

A gain of 20 hp and 16 ft-lbs.

This car's turning circle is just... ungodly. Horrible understeer. I'm currently doing the MINI VGT Seasonal Event, and I have to say I have 4WD cars that can retain a lot more speed when going around corners. I can feel the front tires of the MINI gripping yes, they grip incredibly well, but they're not turning far enough. I think the center diff or suspension or something needs to be re-tuned.

The MINI corners a lot better if you let off the throttle. It's typical of 4WD cars to not enjoy being gassed through a corner. If you think the MINI is bad, try the GTR :scared:

The understeer is aweful yes.. But I've only tried it with the controller, not with a proper wheel yet and this usually makes a bit of a difference :) Atleast for me, had the same issue with the X2, with controller massive understeer, with a wheel not so much :)

Great, another VGT without interior...

I expected something more in general. It's just looking like a basic mini with a simple new bodykit. And those "GT Logo" liveries... my god MS-Paint would be proud.

Got my hands dirty with the Mini earlier today.

It sounds ok, I still think the Mazda is number 1. Thing is with the Mini, it needs a softer more open sound if you know what I mean.

Here's what it looks like on CH tires at Laguna Seca. It's as quick as the GT-R Nismo.

It's a bit ironic that it is as fast as a GT-R, since you just mentioned the GT-R when it came to understeer with 4WD drivetrains... :sly:

The intro Video of this machine is so cheesy.

Yes, and it hardly shows any game footage. I would've enjoyed a more thorugh description of the car creating process, not really a fan of the "Need For Speed Mild Pursuit Swag 2015" style.
