That's a great story. Many more should be told. Perhaps it's an uplifting moment in an individual's life when he can score such a rare victory and share it with the community that's rooting him, and for all us mere humans, to drive like Nuvolari at the Nurburgring, with a touch of magic.
With as elegant and dramatic as it may have sounded, after watching the replay today after getting out of work, it looked more like a drunk monkey got a hold of a set of keys to a very expensive car, and went for a ride. . .
I was surprised how often I was hanging one side of the car in the grass, how many turns I over shot and drifted through the grass, and in general how much time I spent carving up the lawn in that attempt. I have had cleaner, more in control laps where I finished 5 seconds or farther behind.
Parnelli Bone: with the lap time average that you have told me earlier, I'm sure that 34 will be yours soon. And like you, I did it so I could say that I was able to do it. Same reason I did the 24 hours @ Sarth in A-Spec. 👍
Ok . . . as promised, here are the numbers from my race:
My finish time was 9:13.280 making my actual lap time somewhere around 7:10.280 taking away the 2:03 that they make you wait at the starting line.
I think it was on page 2 of this thread that I found someones split times that I used to judge my lap as I was going along. Below are my times in the brackets, and my comparison time next to it.
My split times were as follows:
T01 - (-1:49.491) - -1:50.3
T02 - (-1:41.388) - -1:43.3
T03 - (-1:31.158) - -1:34.1
T04 - (-1:20.651) - -1.21.3
T05 - (-1:08.320) - -1:07.4
T06 - (-0:57.061) - -0:55.8
T07 - (-0:40.250) - -0:40.0
T08 - (-0:32.088) - -0:31.1
T09 - (-0:25.737) - -0:25.5
T10 - (-0:14.703) - -0:14.2
T11 - (-0:06.462) - -0:05.8
FIN - (+0:00.033) - -0:00.7
Also, earlier last evening I watched this to see what corners I should even attempt to cut:
And that's about all I can really tell you beyond the story above. I'm going to take off and try out that lovely final prize car that they award you.
Thanks for all the congratulations guys. That was my largest hurdle that I still had to face in completing the game.
*edit* - In lieu of winning, I will admit that I have found a new appreciation for the SLR . . . so much so that I have decided not to sell my second practice car as I had intended to do if I had ever beat #34. (The first one was sold out of frusteration since I couldn't slap on a set of dirt tires and drive it off the edge of the Grand Canyon!) So it will remain as 1 of 7 Benzes that will allowed to take residence in my garage. (4 race cars and 3 street cars).
