I guess all those time trials with my 88c-v a few years ago paid off, i know this track so well, i understand how its almost impossible for newcomers, the track does take a bit of learning, and this test is not the best way to learn it.

Was driving in my Bentley and got a little sad. Know this track and enjoy it because of the days I've spent on it. But couldn't forget a time when driving here was like a new adventure every time. Not knowing what was around the next corner. Even if you could see the map. Thinking to myself that there was no way I would ever figure this course out.

For the people who drive AT...do you keep the gas on while you brake in this mission? I'm thinking some must, cause when you brake, the revs go way down. If the gas was also on, maybe acceleration wouldn't suffer so much. Thanks for any info. (I've only finished as high as 4th on this mission.) P.S. Is there any way to speed up the 2 minute wait before the mission starts?

No. The wait is part of it and can't be changed. The only thing you can do is accept it. It is the same frustration for all of us.

Along I used a MT for this mission, I did keep some gas on through most corners, as this seemed to keep the understeer down a bit and kept the RPMs up for corner exit, as you've determined. I've read in these posts that some managed fine without doing that, but that's how I passed it. That and reading ALOT of the tips from this thread, watching their videos and spending a few days on it.👍

I did not. I use the right analog stick for the acc/brake function. The most important thing for me was to brake early enough before a corner or series of ones and then accelerate through them. The car will hold it's line very well. I did nothing but #34 for a week. Just to get to know the car and track. See my post # 1092 for the vids and help I used. Austin343's was especially helpful.

The 2 min wait is non negotiable. Run a lot of laps over in arcade. Then jump back when you are in the 7"06.xxx range.

And good luck. 👍

It's one of the crown jewels. Along with the 111.000 ASpec and 80 golds I think.

I did the mission using a DS2 and the buttons, and being that I am a bit of a button masher from way back, it was basically gas, brake, gas. In an AT trans as well.

the missions are easy
it depends on the experience of driving on gt4
in the beginning it was hard to pass
i tryed some 10 times and i passed
now i pass at the 1 time :)

It really depends. On this current profile, i struggled for this mission. But a few years ago, with my first profile, i think i managed to do it within a week or even less.

im half tempted to send my dang memory card to one of you guys and have you beat this for me! im sick of trying and have been at 99.8 for way too long! i want my black f1 car!!! lol

But if you do it, the Black FGT, will feel so much more sweeter to drive and take photo's of. :)

I will always be at 99.8%. But I have #34 conquered. See my #1092. I can't agree more with Open Addict's " But if you do it, the Black FGT, will feel so much more sweeter to drive and take photo's of." But I can live without it knowing that I have done #34. Almost every week I just watch the replay again. Even though I know how it ends.

Just put in the practice time and you can do it.

One word sums up this mission: HARD. I can barely even get fifth place (though I might be better now), and you have to wait two minutes just to start.

Practice, Practice, Practice, Practice and then more Practice. It can be done. Just read this thread from the beginning. Tons of tips. 👍

Holy tornado! I finally made it... can't believe it. I was stuck on 99.6% since 2005 (missed M26 on Suzuka and this one). I used the DS2 for GT4 earlier, but used my DFP wheel now.

I tried practicing with the SLR in GT mode and arcade, but I never got the same feel as the one on M34. So I went at it again and again and again, switching between PC and PS2 for the 120 sec wait. Got closer and closer, and ended up beating the 300SL with 0.00.344. Photo finish!

Slippery bastard of a car, spinning out at the slightest bump.

But now, 100% yeah!

Well, after Who-knows-how-long, I finally beat it! Getting closer to 100%. For those having problems, here are some tips:

-Be Patient, practice, and learn the track. It may seem imposssible, but you can do it. I might get flamed, but I learned the track while playing NFS Shift.

-When overtaking, be clean and quick. When you see a chance to pass, pass. Get on the grass if you have to (though i don't reccomend it), but don't hit anyone.

-Watch the car. Since you're driving a heavy GT car on less than ideal tires, understeer is an issue. Something that may help is to get the car in a slide around medium/high speed corners, such as the corner after the first turn. Be aggresive, but be careful.

-Watch the bumps, especially after the jumps on Flugplatz and Pflanzgarten III. You need to have 100% control when landing otherwise you'll spin. Hitting the brakes while going down Pflanzgarten is not a very good idea.

Also, this thread may be helpful.

Gaaaahhhh! I had this game since the first day it was out and I still can't beat it. It feels totally different from a stock mclaren and I have no patience to wait 2 minutes then fail 26 seconds later.

IMO, just because everyone went through this BEEE ESSSS of waiting 2 minutes to start a race does NOT justify going lightly on KY for putting it in there to begin with.

Yeah sure he's a great guy, made a great game, blahblahblah whatever, there is NO EXCUSE for the fatheaded narrowminded thinking that lead to the decision of putting waits like this on a mission like this.

AS A MATTER OF FACT when I think about buying GT5, the entire decision on which version to buy, in all likelihood, I will NOT buy the collectors edition based on this one nit-witted decision by KY.

I suggest a letter-writing campaign to send a message regarding how UN-GAMING it is to sit and wait for a total of 5 or 8 hours before even starting the race. Let us join hands and kill this before it has a chance to breed.

Bar the two minute wait, I genuinely don't understand why this mission has become so infamous. It may just be my driving style that's at fault here, but there are far harder missions than this. I still can't get my hands on that Pagani Zonda Race Car for missions 21-24, yet I completed Mission 34 with relative ease. ;)

Whoooooooooooo.

I completed Mission 34. I bought the game the very day it became available in stores. Only after all these years, finally, finally, this dastardly mission was beaten.

It's a bit late for that I'm afraid, plus even back in the day, I doubt they would have done anything about it :/

I tried this off and on for the first 7 weeks I had the game, it was the last thing I had to Gold. I remember I 'had' to stop my WRS streak so I could sit down and accomplish it, it took me probably a good 40 to 50 hours of trying before I got it. It's the only reason why I didn't give the game a 10.0 (instead a 9.9 :P) and ranks second in my book to Zelda Ocarina Of Time.

Link for Austin343's youtube channel is on his posts. Has #24.

GAH!

Just lost out by .6 of a second, and I had a huge off just before Aremberg, and it turns out the 300SL was on one of its (comparitively) quick laps too.

Fail.

Ah well, I'll get it one of these runs.
