MISSION STAGE 8 / 6 Blue Moon Bay Speedway HOW?????

aOlWeZD.jpg

This one was a s.o.b., took me 3 days and around 30 full race attempts. Finally won it with Herb^.

Like a couple other people in here, I couldn't get any of the strategies posted to work for me. Not only do I use the DS4, but I also use the Dpad which I can testify on large circut tracks like this is at a disadvantage, and it's really only because of long shallow turns in which you need to hold a soft angle at speed, on Blue Moon Bay it's turn 2.

Having to constantly bump the Dpad instead of holding that angle does a couple things in a race like this. First, you're giving up a little time with every bump, it may only be hundredths or thousandths of a sec, but it stacks up quick and again it's only really perceivable in a high lap race on a large high speed oval like BMB.

All that is manageable and can be overcome, the bigger problem that all this contributes to is tire ware. Again with every bump with the Dpad in turn 2 you're squealing the tires a little every time, this also stacks up quick. After trying a few strategies posted here, as well as youtube vids, I noticed that my soft's and med's were burnin out almost a full lap earlier than the folks I was trying to mimic. Not only that but Dpad bumps with low tire grip, just accelerates the problem until the eventual spin out.

Now with all that out of the way here's my strategy...

Get the Beetle, kick it off with RS front and RM rear. Pit at the end of lap 11 put on RMs (RS if using wheel or Jstick) and fill up to 10 laps worth of fuel.

This race is won in the first 5 laps, and you'll know by then whether or not to restart. Basically you need to catch the lead pack (top 3) by the time you pit on 11, and by catch I mean either be in the lead or be on their rear bumper. Sometimes you just get burnt by the AI. Every now and again the WRX will be way to far out in front to even bother. You just want to make sure that when coming up on the 5th lap that the lead top 3 are reasonably grouped up. If it looks like the leader is a couple secs or more ahead of the other two, just go ahead and restart.

The last half of the race is nerve racking defense, out of the pit you'll either be in the lead or will take it by lap 14. By 19 you should have a comfortable lead (4-5secs), bbbbbbbbutttttt......... that tire ware nightmare comes back to life quick in the last 2 laps, and they will catch up. Just hold em off and be very careful about them making contact while in a turn. I got spun out while in the lead by these A-hole AI's on the last lap at least 6 or 7 times before I finally won this race.

I've played every GT since PS1, have had an account here on GTP since 2003... and this was the most brutal, satisfying, legendary race of all.

I did this on the 3rd try with someones strategy i read on here (not this thread, one of the many other threads regarding this exact same race). basically was pit on the 10th lap, just enough fuel for 11 laps and block. when the subaru and viper came out of the pits ahead of me and i somehow got in their draft, passed them both, and spent the rest of the race blocking.

oh and i used the AMG GT GT3 if that helps. Its really stupid but honestly, once you get past the leaders this race is all about blocking

Use the Renault RS thingy.

Don't touch a wall.

Having a mid-rear car helps out of turn 1 where you need to be brave on the throttle.
It's a 4th gear corner where you should be aiming to JUST miss running the inside kerb every time.

Try using fuel map 2 from the very start and gain an extra lap over the AI.
Calculate how many more laps you will run by the end, then add 1 more lap in your fuel tank to compensate for stint 2.

Go for Race softs for your final stint and turn your power back to 1.
You'll be surprised how much difference the tyres make to your laptimes/velocity and ability to catch and pass the Impreza with ease.
Once past the lead car, move off the racing line on the straights for a couple of laps and increase your lead till it can't draft you.
If you are really struggling with this challenge, it's either because you simply aren't fast enough around the course, or the AI have drafted themselves into too big a lead early on.
Persevere.

Good luck everyone.

:irked:👍

Gold using a different strategy.
Lamborghini Hurican GT3, full race on softs, pit at end of lap 7 for tires and sniff of fuel, pit again end lap 14 for tires and exactly 7 laps of fuel. Bump draft to third, follow the front runners until final corner, pass on the outside of last corner, block the rabbit......done.

Have fun.

Here's what I did - and a big thanks to some people in another thread for this one:

Car
WRX Gr.3
Important track notes:
  • On Turn 1, brake at the 100m sign and slam the car into 4th
  • On Turn 3, coast into the turn (lift off ~100m sign) and get back on the gas at 155ish MPH.
  • Do NOT hit the walls. The lost time is amplified on an oval.
Strategy:
  1. Start with RS/RS.
  2. Push yourself as hard as you can, catch up to the top cars. You should get within 3 seconds of the top three.
  3. Take your pit stop at Lap 9.
  4. Switch to RM/RM, full tank.
  5. Keep pushing. You should catch the rocket AI on lap 11 as they leave the pits, or you'll be ahead of them. That depends on your pace.
  6. Don't be afraid to draft and block the AI - but if you did everything right, you should be able to get a one second lead. Use that space as much as you can by maintaining pace.
  7. You should finish in 1st on lap 21 - you may or may not have an angry mob of AI immediately behind you.

Man my hands are shaking right now after a few days of trying this race, I had pretty much conceded I would never beat this race and was about to go to bed. Well then I saw your strategy and it gave me hope. The racing soft tires gives you enough grip that by lap 9 you should either be 2nd or 1st in time for pit. If your 1st when other pit you’ll have the lead when the other guys pit. Now worst case scenario if your 2nd you should be able to draft the lead cars for a chance to win.

P.S. Thanks Obelisk I finally beat it only had to block the other cars a couple times and it was fairly easy.

If unable to beat it with the RM out of pit you may try Hards as they won’t wear as much... good luck to others, it’s an incredibly hard race.

Finally beat this mission. Used the VW GTI VGT.
Started with RS tires and pitted on lap 7 and got enough fuel for 7 laps.
Did the same thing on lap 14 and with the soft tires for the whole race I posted consistent lap times and pass the lead group on the last lap.

This mission took me a couple of hours. Tried many times with the WRX and VW, no luck. Tried it with the NSX and beat it on the first try. Guess I should of used the NSX first.

Anyways, used Honda NSX; softs for the first 9 laps, and did mediums/full tank all the way to the finish with still a second gap.

I was bound and determined to use the Viper and beat this, but after a week I still had no luck. I didn't want to, but I finally gave in and used the Subaru. RS/RM then RM and fuel at 9 laps and I got it after 3 tries. The competition seems to be able to take corner 2 at 4-5 mph faster without draft than I am. If it weren't for that, I think I could have done it with the Viper.

Used this guide and got gold after around six attempts or so, thanks! Took a few attempts to get a feel for it all and was spun out of 5th and 2nd by the AI (probably not happy with my blocking).

In the end it all came together, but the 7 laps' worth of blocking the other Scooby and Mustang (I think) put my nerves on edge a bit.

Dpad is killing you dude. This is on PS4 not PS1 get with the times man!

Just finished this, took 6 attempts, not a fan. The following is what worked for me, if anyone else wants to give it a go.

-WRX
-RH front and back
-FM 1
-Pit at end of 11th lap, no tires, ~10 laps of fuel
-Come out of the pits in 1st with 1-2 sec lead
-Maintain lead by blocking and moving to the inside on straights.

If you don't come out of the pits in 1st, reset and drive harder/try bump drafting for the first 10 laps.

i did it too with my nsx, started on soft for the first 9 laps, i pited right befor lap 10 took mediums and put about 11 laps of gas, push hard to the end and finsih the race on lap 20 gold, i am using g25 with a cronusmax plus so i cant chage my fuel maps :(

Got this on my first try with the WRX strategy posted on the first page. Didn't find it that difficult really. You just had to do some dirty blocking at the end when the AI increased their pace. Everything else was smooth sailing.

I think I'm the only idiot who did this with the 458 and Viper, it's all about fuel saving:

- Make liberal use of lean fuel maps while in slipstreams, try avoid being in open air too much.
- Target turn 3 for lifting an coasting gains, the AI is typically slower through this turn.
- Set your car up to understeer very slightly.

I got this on my first try. I knew there were a load of folk having problems with it, but I hadn't read any of the "winning strategies" and just decided to have a go, and wing it.

I used the Atenza. I started on softs, and because I knew there was some kind of fuel issue, I put my fuel map to 3 for my first stint. My tyres didn't last very long, and I pitted on lap 8 for new ones. I was in about 6th place by this point. I put on race hards this time, and filled it to the brim with fuel. Fuel map to 1 full power, for the rest of the race too. Came out in 20th, but moved up as others pitted. At one point the STI came out of the pits behind me, and I remembered that he was a car to beat so I thought I might be able to do this. He got ahead of me a couple of times, as did a Mustang, but slight aggression into the first corner sorted them out, along with a modicum of weaving to keep them behind.

With the time about to run out, I had a queue of the STI, Mustang, Huracan & a Viper behind me, but unable to get enough of a run at me to get past.

The timer was running out, and I was flat out for the line, but I didn't know which would run out first. Was this my last lap, or would I reach the line and need another? I hit the line, and the finish message came up. Time was 15'00.221! Couldn't have timed it better if I'd tried.

I did it differently for gold

Subaru Gr.3
Roll on fuel 6
Racing hards

Draft the first McLaren right on his rear bumper and the car infront of it as long as you can (until they pit). If you are right up their chuffs for the first 11-12 laps, you will have a 9-11 second lead on the Subaru when he leaves the pits. Push like heck and dont make any mistakes. We are so much faster than the AI in the final corner that will help.

If you havent made any mistakes, you should win with a 2 second gap. If you have, block them like crazy for 2-3 laps.

IT CAN BE DONE!

Edit: oh yeah if it isnt clear, dont pit lol

This worked great. Thanks. The Mustang got past me when blocking but I had enough fuel to dial the fuel map back up on the last couple corners to pass him.

Thanks for posting.

Hey everyone. I joined this forum specifically to post about my experience on this course. I've read everyone's tips, and tried a lot of them. With that being said, here are 3 things that made this mission possible. Keep in mind, the two things you have to do almost perfect are drafting your opponents, and taking the turns properly. You do that, then these methods should work for you.

Method 1 - I used the WRX. I did Automatc transmission. My TCS was set at 1. And I ran at full power.
Did racing tires soft in the front. Did racing tires medium on the back. I went to the pit at the end of lap 9. I then changed all the tires to racing soft. With soft on both, I was able to shed some time off the first cars lead. Then when the top cars pit on lap 12, you should be able to pass them. Depending on how good you drove, you can have anywhere from a 2-4 second lead. Now, your racing soft tires will wear out quicker, and the AI WILL catch up, but that's when your blocking comes in handy. Just be patient, and keep them blocked behind you for about 4 min. You do that, you will beat them by a close margin.

Method 2 - I used the VW Beetle. Tires on the whole car were racing hard. TCS at 1. Automatic transmission. And I ran the fuel to LEAN 6. NO PIT STOP REQUIRED. With this method, you won't go fast at all. At the beginning of the race, stay behind the car ahead of you. Try not to let cars pass you from behind. It just makes the mission tougher. Just keep racing, and once all the opponents pit, you will pass them and be in first place. Now once they catch up to you, it's blocking time. same as above, just be calm, and keep all those punks behind you, and again, you will win just by a bit.

Method 3 (the extremely lucky method) - same exact strategy as Method 1. Here's the only difference. Once you pass all the cars on lap 12, and are in first. I accidentally got passed. But on a turn, I took a hard inside turn, and bumped my opponent hard, and he lost control. Next thing I know, I went from a 2 second lead, and it just kept rising. Somewhere when i bumped the AI, either he hit other cars, or something glitched out. Because I ended up finishing the race by a 30 second lead. Now this is a rare case, and I know I got lucky. But you never know, it could happen to you.

Good luck to everyone
I hope the remaining two missions aren't as tough

Finally beat this race, and just wanted to give my thoughts on it.

First, I used the FT-1, fuel map 1 the entire time, and TC at 0.

I started with RS front, and RM rear like everyone else. I also lost 50+ times, like everyone else. The difference this time was that, when I pitted on lap 11, I switched to RM all around instead of RS. Also, I got 10 laps worth of fuel like everyone else, and it works.

I found that, with RS fitted, the car would start to get really loose around lap 18 and I'd have to add some TC. Also, near the end of the race the cars start to get really aggressive, and end up bumping you while you block. I don't know how many times they spun me out doing this, but it was just about more than I could take. Switching to RM at the pit really helped that a lot. I actually didn't have to block even once the entire race, and once I got past, I steadily moved away from the 2 cars following me.

I think this race is extremely hard because of the following reasons.

1. You simply can't make a mistake, if you tap the back of a car or hit the wall, it's almost guaranteed that you won't be able to catch the cars you need to draft to move up the pack.
2. You must drive balls out, but try to preserve your tires so that you can use TC-0.
3. 99.9% of the time you have to block at the end to win the race, and with wearing tires this is super difficult.

I was just about to post the question if ANYONE had won this race WITHOUT blocking, and I won on my next try by 1.5 seconds.

I think it also may be about a bit of luck, like you just really have to try it so many damn times to make it work.

Unlike what one of the posters above said, I too have been involved in this series from day 1, and this race was NOT satisfying to win, it's a crock of sh!+ in my opinion, and honestly shouldn't be on the game, as it doesn't fit with any of the other races.

Done, and never going back.

Well, not quite.

1. if AI would obey law of physics, this wouldn't be impossible to do (yet our cars, whatever it is, respects physics)
2. if AI wouldn't drive like 90% of people in Online game, this wouldn't be impossible (yet they want us to be fair players)
3. if AI would be aware of player on track, this wouldn't be impossible (yet they want us to be aware of other players)
4. if each car wouldn't have same hp and weight, this wouldn't be impossible (yet they state this is a simulator)

This would sum it up!

How are you going my friend, I will be doing this one soon and thank for saying it is hard and you need luck to win.

I've been well, enjoying the last seasonals they gave us for GT6, adore that game even more now! Sad will be the day when the seasonal challenges are gone, as GTS is...well...unimpressive.

I needed more luck than you will, you're a better driver for sure. You should be out front by lap 8 I would imagine, and might have to block a bit before you pit in. But after that, I'm sure you'll pull out the win. I think I needed different tires than everyone else is using because I use the DS4, being smoother with a wheel is definitely a plus here.

Cheers sir.

Thank you guys for the amazing tips, I managed to do it on the second full run try of this event!

Now that I have finished with the event that everyone complained about, now I could focus on the rest 7 events and also golding that final Stage 6.

Finally I did it, at 4 in the morning :)

WRX, RH front and rear, fuel @1 all the time, pitted in 13th, fueled for 8 laps more no tire change, and then... fight...

Will post replay later on...

I got this after 6 tries, trying out different strategies.
Here's what worked for me: I started the race on Racing Medium, entered the pits when ahead of the first pack (lap 9), changed tyres to Racing Hard and refueled for the remaining 12 laps. Had to block the other Impreza WRX like crazy on the last couple of laps.
TC 2, ABS default, stock settings.

I give up, either that or the TV will end up out the window, I’ve tried a million combos and the tips you’ve all suggested on here, but I’m afraid it will have to remain as the fart in a spacesuit that is my Mission Challenge as I’ve got gold on every other one !! :banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead:
