MISSION STAGE 8 / 6 Blue Moon Bay Speedway HOW?????

I tried just about every Gr.3 car I had (and few I bought) to do this race. Got close each time I used a car, that I hadn't before. Got to the final lap twice with the WRX, only to get spun out on the last lap (by the Viper or WRX). Then, no matter how hard I tried I couldn't even get close. Changed cars, got close, then not a chance. Then, I ran the "Lancer Evolution Final Edition Gr.3" and got it first try.

Soft Tires to start. Drafted every time I had the chance. By lap 8 I was right behind the leading pack (WRX, Viper, Mustang). Pitted on lap 9. Full Tank, and Medium Tires. Leaders popped out just in front of me after they pitted, but I got around them in the first turn. I didn't let them get the inside of the track, and that seems to be one of the major keys. Really wasn't a game of Block, as much as don't let them get the inside...

There was one time, where every AI car but the WRX didn't pit, and ended up going crazy slow. The WRX actually hit one, spun out and I had first, up to lap 19...then one of the cars showed up on a turn, and I couldn't avoid it...spun...and that was the end of any chance of winning gold. Never happened again...

By far, the toughest mission yet...

...find it far too complicated

There is one turn where you need to switch to 4th (aka 200km/h), one turn is flat out, and third is 6th to 5th (aka 250km/h), not judging anybody, but believe me it is much easier to drive manual if you are racing... Try mazda atentza road car, driving on auto is no go for 1st place...

Finally and thankfully I never have to do this mission ever again  (cracks open a bottle of beer in celebration) cheers for all the tips guys, it was actually pretty comfortable and won by quite a margin in the end

1st attempt win using the BMW M6, start on Softs, pit lap 10 for full fuel and Mediums, out of pits in front of leaders, drove away to the win. Just need a little pink power :)

If that's the case, I'm heading to Fred Meyer and buying all the 'Pink' I can find! Then to Home Depot for the room paint. "Why is everything pink?"
"...trying to get gold in this mission, dear!"

There is something about the AI on the "First try" (first run, first run of a different car). Every time I run a race for the first time, I am crazy close to winning gold. I've silvered a lot first try. Then, the chase for gold...I'm not even close. I thought I was going nuts.

(8-7 did the same thing. "Oh look I got third place first try....thank god this isn't as bad as 8-6." ...30 attempts later, not even close to 3rd. It's the exact same scenario...but faster.)

...no worries of of blazing through this game. At this rate, should last at least 3 years. =)

The update completely ruined the challenge! I've been struggling with this and could only manage 2nd place. Usually about 2 seconds behind the lead car at the end and unable to close in to get a draft.

After the update, I got gold with over a 10 second lead. It's now way too easy.

I've been well, enjoying the last seasonals they gave us for GT6, adore that game even more now! Sad will be the day when the seasonal challenges are gone, as GTS is...well...unimpressive.

I needed more luck than you will, you're a better driver for sure. You should be out front by lap 8 I would imagine, and might have to block a bit before you pit in. But after that, I'm sure you'll pull out the win. I think I needed different tires than everyone else is using because I use the DS4, being smoother with a wheel is definitely a plus here.

Cheers sir.
I finally got this one my friend . I have been on this for about 2 days before the update only to get second or third, with this new 1.06 update I got Gold and won one the race first up over 5 seconds :), I took the lead with about 3 minutes to go and just went away from them on fuel map 2, I could not believe it and the 1.06 update has made it a lot easy to win.

I'm a little gutted that they've made it easier now. All w/e I had been frantically completing my golds on Missions and reached Stage 8-6 late last night but didn't have time to give it a crack. Looks like we will all be able to gold everything without breaking a sweat!

I was fighting hard for the Lake Magiore 30 lap endurance race to barely get 3rd. After the patch, no tactics no nothing, just stayed on regular HARD tires all race long and went to pit when it told me to. I not only finished first but I was 40 seconds in the lead. Yea its way easier now.

I had a feeling they were going to do that. Oh well, doesn't matter from your standpoint, you would have beat it either way!

Hey, It just gives the novice driver a chance now, all us veteran driver's will just have to take the $$$ and buy a Cobra that's all. I'm sure you all got gold already, so why complain. :D  👍

I just got gold at Stage 8-6 Blue Moon Bay and I've been trying for some time now, won by 4 secs. 👍

How much fuel did you put in the car for each time you pit.

Before this update the best i could get was 2nd place, 1-3 seconds behind that pesky WRX, did the event today and the victory was hollow, no challenge whatsoever, but hey like someone mentioned above we have to win this event one day. Was really enjoying the challenge before this update came out. (Mission 34 was easier than this!)

Full tank every time.

EDIT:

Just did the 8-6 mission for gold. Again same as above, no special tactic or messing around with fuel or tires. Was in the lead for about 10 seconds.

I'm glad I had the satisfaction of winning this before the update, but to be fair, it was kinda' unbalanced relative to the two challenges either side of it. Even the Nurburgring one only took me a couple of attempts, but that was because I did all the other missions and things related to the Nurb first so have good track knowledge now. It's a good update, and I'm looking forward to the next with more offline stuff as I've got gold on everything now - before this update.

Sounds great, the lazy person in me has been waiting until some of the challenges got nerfed so I can do them easily. :)

All respect to the people who have the time to spend hours on trying to beat the hardest challenges but with so many great games out there (non-racing) and a real life to put back on the rails I really don’t want to spend too much time trying to do these.

Did this last night and got gold with ease. Nothing special, not super try-hard, just normal driving. Guess I'll need to seek a challenge online. Oh wait...the final FIA race starts at 9pm and I'm not on at that time...lame indeed.

I won on first try last week using WRX, RH. Got behind the BMW went to fuel 6 and just drafted until BMW pitted. Then had a big lead until the 4 minute mark. Generously used the track with three on my tail. Changed to fuel 1 with 2 laps to go and just pulled away. Saw this on YouTube.

I give up, either that or the TV will end up out the window, I’ve tried a million combos and the tips you’ve all suggested on here, but I’m afraid it will have to remain as the fart in a spacesuit that is my Mission Challenge as I’ve got gold on every other one !! :banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead:

Dude, i had that same feeling. I thought I was never going to pass it. It got so bad that I considered to quit playing the whole game. But I stayed with it, kept grinding, and finally did it. You can do it too!!!! Just keep at it man. Look at everyone else's posts, they had numerous attempts before they finally passed it. Believe in yourself and you will conquer!!!!

See message 94 above :D

Thanks for your help, won the race quite easily .

Got any tips to get closer to the top ten times on the Blue Moon mission, for some reason I'm winning loads of golds there and leading by +15 seconds every time, yet I'm 25 secs behind the best times, am I missing a trick ?

I think the only tip I can give you my friend, is to go faster and use the fuel map better in the race.

When you're 25secs behind the best time you've started your final lap when there's only 20 secs remaining. When the timer reached zero, around halfway the lap, it took you 25 secs to finish your final lap and so you're 25 secs behind on the leaderboards, while in fact you drove an entire extra lap.
Try to aim at starting the final lap when there's about 40-42 secs remaining, that way the timer reaches zero just before the finish line, and you'll have a much quicker time on the leaderboards, much closer to the 15 minutes.

My strategy was using the WRX Gr.3, start on RH, fuel mix at 6 until about 6mins remaining then pit for 10 laps worth of fuel put fuel mix to 1 for the remainder. easy win!

I did this one yesterday and I found it actually very easy.

  • Peugeot RCZ GR3
  • Fuel Economy 1 / Racing Hard
  • draft your way through the field
  • pit 1 lap later than the Subaru
  • Racing Medium & 9 laps of fuel
  • Switch to Fuel economy 2
  • Crossed the line at 15:0x with 3 seconds lead (even had to lift to not race an additional lap)
