Changed a few names...and you just explained the Reds situation perfectly. :P We'll be heading into full rebuild mode by the trade deadline.
Now now, you can't be the only one to lay claim to Sparky. :P Also, I expect Detroit to go into rebuild mode soon. I'd rather have a few sucky years now and be good again for several years than keep buying and suck for longer.

On a side note, now that you changed the words, I just realized that my post would be a good template for most of the teams in baseball that are struggling. Just change the names to suit other teams and post.

I didn't even think about that when I put Sparky in there. :P He was a great manager for both teams. I just wish I could have seen the Big Red Machine. Yeah, the Reds won the Series in '90 also, but I was only 3 at the time. It's been mostly pain and suffering since then.

I wasn't even born when Detroit won its last World Series. I was lucky to be young enough to forget the horrible mid 90s-early 2000s teams, but I get to watch crap baseball for a few years now I guess.

The Houston Astros won 4-2 tonight here in Houston against the Boston Red Sox. The winner was Collin McHugh for HOU, and Luke Gregerson got the Save (his 20th of the season). Joe Kelly took the loss for BOS. Series finale is tomorrow night here in H-Town.

Congratulations to Wednesday's other winners, including the Detroit Tigers winning against the Seattle Mariners thanks to a Grand Slam, and also the Washington Nationals rallying from behind in the Bottom of the 8th to defeat the New York Mets at home.

That looked more accidental to me. To say that this hit-by-pitch on Miami was done on purpose or to treat it like it was done on purpose is just ludicrous. It was surely a brutal pitch to take to the head. The pitcher even went to the guy feeling gutted. How much more sincere and concerned can you be than in this situation? If he was serious about beaning David Peralta, he would have nonchalantly just shrug it off like he deserved it. However, don't go trying to show up the other team by plunking them with pitches on an accidental hit-by-pitch. Bush League 'ball.

Besides that, I'm pretty excited we picked up Scott Kazmir from the A's. I learned about the trade on Twitter about three hours ago (as of this post). Recently, the Pittsburgh Pirates traded to get Aramis Ramirez from the Milwaukee Brewers for current Minor Leaguer Yhonathan Barrios.

The trade deadline is July 31st. So the wheeling and dealing is only getting started.

We swept the Boston Red Sox tonight! 5-4 was the score as the Astros picked up their 54th win of the season. Winning for Houston was Josh Fields while Craig Breslow was BOS' loser. So on the same day the Astros traded to get Scott Kazmir (whom I didn't know is a native Houstonian like myself), we took down the Red Sox in a three-game set.

Up next for the Astros... we're in Kansas City for the weekend to entertain the Royals at their house for a three-game set.

Congratulations to Thursday's other winners.

[UPDATE] When I looked on Twitter, I read the Astros won thanks to a walk-off homer by José Altuve. Yeah... little man (5'5") making a big impact. We'll still take the win regardless.

The Houston Astros are on a quick three-game series on the road at Kansas City. Game 1 of 3 in KC ended up a 4-0 for the Houston Astros. Scott Kazmir made his Astros debut and picked up the win for HOU, and that win was matched by a Save from Luke Gregerson. For KC, it was Jeremy Guthrie taking the loss. This is (I believe) our Emerald win- 55 wins for the Astros this season.

Congratulations to all of Friday's winners, including the first complete game shutout in the career of José Quintana in his Chicago White Sox blanking the Cleveland Indians 6-0 in Cleveland. And as I tried to post this on here, Boston just beat Detroit 2-1 in 11 innings in Boston. Red Sox snap their losing ways after we swept them in H-Town.

Dang, Dolph Drago... you guys can't catch a break. Almost as if the baseball gods don't like the Reds or something. Tough for your Reds to drop another one the way it happened.

NO HITTA!!! No hits for you, my friend! Cole Hamels pitched a no hitter for the Phillies at the Cubs in a 5-0 victory for PHI today. It is the 13th No Hitter in Phillies history.

I just wanted to touch up on these things for this post.

Los Astros y Los Royales. Teams wearing those jerseys. The game tonight between these two ended up in a 2-1 win for Kansas City in 10 innings in Kansas City. So tomorrow's game is a Rubber Game for this series. Houston's five-game winning streak is snapped thanks to a win for KC's Kelvin Herrera. Will Harris took the loss for HOU. We'll see who takes this series when the two teams suit up and go tomorrow afternoon.

Besides today's action, I wanted to bring to light the recent controversy involving ESPN's Colin Cowherd. If you haven't followed recent sports news, he had some questionable words talking about Dominicans in baseball in trying to explain a certain point. He usually isn't one to sugar coat anything. ESPN cut him as a result. Looking on Twitter, I read he's supposed to join FOX Sports later this year; but would even FOX want this guy carrying this recent baggage?

One last note to mention before closing this post. Tomorrow will have some winners- especially Craig Biggio, Pedro Martinez, Randy Johnson, and John Smoltz... all to be inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame. As an Astros fan, I'm especially proud for Craig Biggio. I've always respected John Smoltz. So I'm proud for Smoltzy as well.

My Astros unfortunately lost, but congratulations to all the other winners from Saturday. One of those Saturday winners is Blitz24's Mets putting a vicious 15-2 beating of the Los Angeles Dodgers in Flushing. Who angered the Mets in this one?

[UPDATE] 15-2, not 14-2. Changes made.

Quick notes to share...

* The Baseball Hall of Fame induction ceremony is going on right now with Craig Biggio speaking.

* Ex-Reds pitcher Johnny Cueto is now a Kansas City Royal.

That's all.

The last series with the Royals, my Houston Astros swept them here in Houston. This series in Kansas City... KC takes the series with a 5-1 victory. The Royals put a 4-spot on my Astros in just the first inning alone. All the Astros could do since was score one run in the 2nd inning. So we're coming back to Houston failing in back-to-back games. Yordano Ventura picked up the win for KC, and Dallas Keuchel took the loss for HOU.

Up next for the Astros... we're back home at Minute Maid Park to host Patrick's Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim starting on Tuesday. And after that series, the Arizona Diamondbacks will come in for a weekend series in H-Town.

Congratulations to Sunday's winners, including four special winners- Craig Biggio, John Smoltz, Randy Johnson, and Pedro Martinez... all inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame for 2015.

The Johnny Cueto era is over in Cincinnati. :(

It was a good ride and I wish him the best of luck. Thank you Johnny, for your fantastic years in Cincy!

Mets acquired Tyler Clippard from Oakland today. They sort of need bullpen help but I would have been happier if they pried Reddick as well.

Double post but with caveat. Colorado Rockies have traded SS Troy Tulowitzki and RP Latroy Hawkins to the Toronto Blue Jays for SS Jose Reyes, P Miguel Castro and at least one prospect (hearing pitcher Jeff Hoffman).

Lol Tulowitzki.

Travis-Donaldson-Bautista-Encarnacion-Tulowitzki-Martin, then there's still guys like Pillar and Smoak.

The 2015 Blue Jays will be the highest scoring .500 team to ever play the game.

Unless the Jays get some starting pitching I cant see them making the post season. Perfect off season to sign dome starting pitching, though.

My Houston Astros. Patrick's Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. Got to love an inter-forum sports rivalry. H-Town's the spot for this little series in the American League West. The Angels gave the Astros all they could handle, but the 'Stros doubled up the Halos 10-5. This win sets up a tie in the AL West. Collin McHuge was the starting pitcher for the Astros tonight, and he picked up the win for HOU. C.J. Wilson (who I respect as a pitcher and as a car guy) took the loss for LAA. LAA at HOU resumes Wednesday night here in Houston.

Congratulations to Tuesday's other winners, including Cincinnati blanking St. Louis 4-0 in St. Louis and (unfortunately for AnthonyD1993) Tampa Bay hammering the Detroit Tigers 10-2 in Tampa Bay.

Yeah, I saw that the Miami Marlins took down the Washington Nationals in Miami 4-1. The NL East goes through Miami, so any win against a divisional foe is always one to gloat about.

Mets take their 3rd in a row. Took care of the Padres 4-0 as Syndergaard pitched 8 innings and had 9 ks.

The Mets trade for Tyler Clippard Monday now makes more sense as Mets RP Jenrry Mejia was busted for PEDs (again) in 2015 and will now be suspended until August 2016. I hope the Mets do not bring him back.

A report indicates that Mat Latos and Michael Moore will be traded from the Miami Marlins to the Los Angeles Dodgers. My only memory of Latos this season was him getting roughed up 7-0 in just the first inning alone hosting the Atlanta Braves. The Fish are currently 42-58, 4th in the NL East. The Los Angeles Dodgers are currently 56-45, leading the NL West.

Hope you all enjoy some baseball on this Wednesday. Good luck to all of your teams.

Trades going down tonight.

New York Mets trade RHP Zack Wheeler and 2B/SS Wilmer Flores to Milwaukee Brewers for OF Carlos Gomez.

Latos goes to Dodgers. There is no word of who goes anywhere else as this could be a 15 player trade.
