The Houston Astros failed again. This time, 4-3 at the Texas Rangers. So two straight losses for us as we lose to the other Texas team. Tolleson got the Save for TEX while Yovani Gallardo was the Rangers' winning pitcher. Losing pitcher for HOU was Dan Strally. Suit up and play ball one last time for this series on Wednesday night. We either take a game or get swept.

Congratulations to Tuesday's other winners.

So the Tigers fired GM Dave Dombrowski and promoted Al Avila to GM. They then proceeded to lose to KC 5-1. This season is a total loss.

Nearly a disaster but the Mets hold on to win their 6th in a row and sweep Miami. They are now two games up on Washington, who lost to Arizona 11-4.

Swept. Or as in the story I read on Yahoo! Sports: "Surging Rangers finish sweep of Astros." We failed 4-3 at the Texas Rangers on Wednesday night. Astros mounted a comeback but could do no more in the late stages. Also winning was LAA, so both the AL West and the AL Wild Card races are closer. Nick Martinez picked up the win for TEX along with Sam Dyson getting the Save. On the HOU side, our loser was native Houstonian Scott Kazmir. Harold Reynolds of MLB Network said that this pressure for Houston is basically what feeling pennant pressure is like. Only hope is if the Astros can understand this level of intensity and learn to play to win in pressure situations like this.

Up next for the Houston Astros Baseball Club... a trip to Oakland to start a four-game weekend series. We couldn't figure these guys out for the life of us last year. Let's see if Houston can get it together playing at Oakland.

Congratulations to Wednesday's other winners, including the New York Mets [literally] surviving at the Miami Marlins and the Tigers winning a low-scoring game at home against Kansas City.

Got to love late games! Stay up late to see if your team can win when on the West Coast. My Astros weren't able to settle their differences with the Oakland Athletics in nine innings, so one more was needed for us to win 5-4. We led 4-2 until the A's tied things up in the 9th. The Astros still man'd up and won a tough one in 10 innings. The big hero was Carlos Correa blasting a 2-run jack to left field in the 8th inning. HOU won their 61st game of the 2015 season with Luke Gregerson and a Save from Will Harris. Edward Mujica was the loser for OAK. Game 2 of 4 for this series is Friday night.

Congratulations to Thursday's other winners.

Unlike the previous game, it needed nine innings. Sadly, we lost 3-1 at Oakland on Friday night. So this series is tied 1-1 thanks to a win for Sonny Gray for OAK. Dallas Keuchel was the HOU loser. The next two games of this series are day games starting at 4:05 PM EDT. Game 3 is later today in Oakland (since it is now Saturday here in Houston).

Congratulations to Friday's other winners.

Just wrapped up... we failed again. 2-1 was how Oakland won today's match in Oakland. So OAK will be playing either for a series win or a series split tomorrow afternoon. OAK got a Save from Mujica as Jesse Chavez was the winning pitcher. HOU's losing pitcher was Collin McHugh. Series finale tomorrow afternoon. Astros failing at the worst time- late in the season against division opponents.

I was watching MLB Network when I saw an argument among Detroit Tigers broke out in the dugout thanks to a miscue that cost the Tigers two runs. Dude had to be wrestled down.

Former Cincinnati Red Chris Heisey was released by the Dodgeers, and I also learned former Houston Astro Bud Norris was released by the Orioles.

Congratulations to Saturday's other winners.

Heh. I didn't even realize Heisey was with the Dodgers. Guess they have enough ex-Reds there already with now Arroyo and Latos. Heisey was a darn good pinch hitter and excellent fielder when in Cincy. Not much of an everyday player though.

Astros lost the HOU at OAK series. They lost 5-4 today in Oakland. They must think we've won the AL West and that their players can relax their pace. Hell no! So we're stuck on 61 wins. Former Astro Fernando Abad was OAK's winning pitcher. Luke Gregerson was HOU's loser.

Up next... an Interleague game that's an NL reunion for the Astros as we play in my personal favorite ballpark- AT&T Park... home of the San Francisco Giants for a two-game set. Yep- Astros at Giants.

Congratulations to Sunday's other winners, including Toronto sweeping the New York Yankees in the Bronx to tighten up the AL East race.

[UPDATE] Two-game set at San Francisco.

Mets win 2nd straight at home, beating the Rockies 4-0 behind Matt Harvey's 8 IP of shutout ball. New York has won 9 of their last 11 games.

The losing woes continue for the Astros from one side of San Francisco Bay to the other (and much lovelier side in my opinion). Tuesday night's fail for the Astros was a 3-1 loss at San Francisco. Big bad Madison Bumgarner picked up the win for SF while Scott Kazmir took the loss for HOU. One more time later today (it's Wednesday here in Houston as of this post). Oh, and MLB Network will be showing this game.

Congratulations to Tuesday's other winners, including Cleveland getting a 5-4 victory in a 16-inning marathon at home against the New York Yankees.

In San Francisco, we got a split of this brief two-game series with a 2-0 victory. The winner for HOU was Scott Feldman along with a Luke Gregerson Save, and SF's loser was Chris Heston. This win puts us at 62-53(?).

Up next for the Astros... back home on Friday for a three-game weekend series against the Detroit Tigers. Yeah- three little play dates against my good mate AnthonyD1993 and his Detroit Tigers here in Houston. This also means Brad Ausmus in different colors apart from his Astros days. Got to love an inter-forum sports rivalry between two or more fans of either team!

...I would like to congratulate Hisashi Iwakuma on pitching a No-Hitter at home as Seattle beat Baltimore 3-0 in Seattle. This is the 5th No-Hitter in Seattle Mariners history as Iwakuma pitched a no-no against the O's. I still remember recent pitching masterpieces by Seattle when "King Felix" had that Perfect Game and then that combined no-hitter for the Mariners. Anyhow... congratulations to H. Iwakuma on a job well done.

Congratulations to Wednesday's other winners, including the Cincinnati Reds getting their golden (50th) win of the season beating the San Diego Padres by a football-like score of 7-3 in San Diego.

Iwakuma became the second Japanese pitcher to throw a no-hitter in the MLB. Also, his no-no was also his first ever complete game.

New York Mets take 3rd in a row, 10th game out of the last 12 and 6th straight at home, shutting out the Rockies 3-0 on 7 IP and 2 H by Jacob deGrom.

The Sox swept the Angels, but only after winning the last game in extra innings because of an idiotic play from Abreu. Next game is against the Cubs who are on a 6 game winning streak.

I'm shocked that the Tigers can still win with this roster that was Ilitch and Dombrowski's "championship roster." I'm even more shocked that they beat KC last night.

Thursday Matinee leads to the same result. New York sweeps away Colorado with a 12-3 bashing. Noah Syndergaard gave up all 3 runs (2 HR in the first inning) but settled down as the Mets earned their 4th straight win, 7th straight at home, and 11th out of their last 13 games. They will face the Pittsburgh Pirates tomorrow at Citi Field.

THIS JUST IN...

...John Farrell, manager of the Boston Red Sox, said that he has Lymphoma. So spare some thoughts for him and hope he can fight off this ailment. The Red Sox are currently 50-64, 5th in the AL East.

Enjoy the weekend series. Good luck to all of your team(s).

It was 5-1 tonight here in Houston as the Houston Astros took down the Detroit Tigers. Detroit drew first blood in the Top of the 4th, but we hung five unanswered runs to win the game. The HOU winning pitcher was Dallas Keuchel, who is now 11-0 at home. For DET, the losing pitcher was Alfredo Simón. DET at HOU continues tomorrow night.

* After the sad news of John Farrell (Boston Red Sox manager) stepping down for treatment of Lymphoma, Boston responded by demolishing the Seattle Mariners 15-1 at Fenway Park. Boston hit Blackjack in the Hits column- 21 hits by the Red Sox. Joe Kelly picked up the win for BOS, and Mike Montgomery got the loss for SEA.

* They couldn't settle it in nine, so Pittsburgh and the New York Mets needed 10 innings as Pittsburgh won 3-2 at the Mets. The 10-game home winning streak by the Mets is no more. The Buckos won with Arquímedes Caminero and a Save from former Astro Mark Melancon. Bobby Parnell was the NYM loser.

* The Mets lost, so how did the other New York City team do? It is a crucial series for the Yanks as they paid a visit to the Toronto Blue Jays. The Yanks kept their cool and won 4-3 at Toronto. This ends Toronto's 11-game winning streak. The winner was Ivan Nova for NYY along with a Save from Andrew Miller. Aaron Sanchez was tagged with the loss for TOR. In recent Blue Jays news, Joba Chamberlain is now on the market, as he was let go by Toronto.

* Thirteen innings were needed in Baltimore as the Orioles beat the Oakland Athletics 8-6. The O's won with Jason Garcia. The A's loser was Drew Pomeranz.

* Texas tamed the Tampa Bay Rays 5-3 in Arlington. The Texas Rangers won with Sam Dyson and a Save from Shawn Tolleson. For TB, their losing pitcher was Jake McGee.

* In St. Louis, the Miami Marlins were put down by the St. Louis Cardinals 3-1. STL's winner was Jaime Garcia along with a Save from Trevor Rosenthal. Tom Koehler was the Marlins' losing pitcher.

Congratulations to all other winners from Friday.

Texans football is back here in Houston. The Astros, however, were tackled for loss (so to speak) by Detroit. The Astros failed tonight 4-2 in a game that took 11 innings for the score to be settled. The Tigers plated 3 runs with the game tied 1-1 heading into extras. We only managed one run and couldn't tame the Tigers. Al Albuquerque was the DET winner with a Save from Neftali Feliz. Pat Neshek was the HOU loser. So we got a Rubber Game tomorrow afternoon.

Congratulations to every other winner from Saturday, including Boston doing another high-scoring encore with an "defense is overrated" 22-10 beating of Seattle. BOS beat SEA 15-1 on Friday, and they won 22-10 today over Seattle. Crazy!

The final game in this inner-forum rivalry series between AnthonyD1993's Detroit Tigers and my Houston Astros went to... the Houston Astros! We won 6-5 today against the boys from MoTown to take the series 2-3. It was Will Harris who got the win for HOU. DET's losing pitcher was Tom Gorzelanny.

Up next for the Astros... Tampa Bay comes to H-Town for a four-game series starting tomorrow night. Rays at Astros.

We were winners today, and so... congratulations to all other winners from Sunday.

This was ugly. We failed badly on Monday night to open this 4-game TB at HOU series with a 9-2 loss. Four runs were plated in the first inning alone by the Rays to where the Astros could do little else to prevent further damage. The winner for TB was Erasmo Ramirez, and HOU's loser was native Houstonian Scott Kazmir. Second game is later tonight (since it's Tuesday as of this post).

Congratulations to all of Monday's winners.

This one couldn't be settled in nine innings, so one more was needed for us to win 3-2 in Walk-Off fashion. We did so on a walk-off jack by Marwin Gonzalez for the Astros to pick up their Blue Sapphire (65th) win of the season. Our winner for HOU was Luke Gregerson, and TB's loser was Brad Boxberger. This 4-game TB at HOU series is now tied 1-1. Game 3 is tomorrow night.

To everybody else who won today or tonight, congratulations to all of Tuesday's other winners.

Once again, regulation solved nothing. The two teams were tied 2-2 as the Astros came back from being down 2-1. What happens if the teams are tied after nine innings? Right- EXTRA INNINGS! While Tuesday's game needed 10 innings, tonight's game needed 13 innings for the Astros to win 3-2. We won by the same score we won last night's game in. Despite Dallas Keuchel being the starting pitcher, he got a No Decision. So he remains perfect at home (12-0). The win instead went to Josh Fields for HOU. TB's losing pitcher was Matt Andriese. One more time for this 4-game series Thursday night.

Congratulations to all other winners from Wednesday's games.

The Tigers beat the Cubs in a 15-8 slugfest last night. Detroit had 5 home runs in the game including one to straight center from pitcher Daniel Norris.
