The Tigers beat the Cubs in a 15-8 slugfest last night. Detroit had 5 home runs in the game including one to straight center from pitcher Daniel Norris.
Who has decided to go to DisneyLand now for 15 days. Michael Fulmer may take his spot in the rotation.

The TB at HOU series ends with a 1-0 win by the Tampa Bay Rays. So we not only failed to win, but failed to get anything more than one hit or put a run on the board. Rays get a split of this four-game series. Chris Archer picked up the win for TB; and even though he was flashing leather like a boss at times tonight, the Astros' loser was Collin McHugh. Only encouraging news for us is that we didn't get no-hit or lose in a perfect game.

Up next... Interleague play for the Astros as we host the Los Angeles Dodgers this weekend. Maybe the Astros could get back to winning or perhaps even influence the NL West and NL Wild Card races depending on how this weekend series goes. MAYBE.

Oh, well... congratulations to Thursday's other winners.

Well, I'd rather see him go on a 2 week trip to Disney than a season vacation.

Tigers won 4-0 last night with Simon throwing a 1 hit shutout.

3-0 was tonight's score as we knocked off the Los Angeles Dodgers tonight here in Houston. But two words summed up tonight:

NO HITTER!!!

There may have been some stormy weather tonight here in Houston, but Mike Fiers was beast in a game televised on MLB Network. In case you're wondering, this is the Astros' 11th ever no-hitter in franchise history. He issued three walks and struck out 10. Fiers on fire for sure this Friday night. He picked up the win for HOU. Brett Anderson was the LAD loser. Tomorrow night, the series continues.

Elsewhere...

...I want to pay respect to recent inductees to the Latino Baseball Hall of Fame. The latest inductees include to the Class of 2016 Hall of Fame include:
* Orlando Hernandez (Cuba)
* Sammy Sosa (Dominican Republic)
* Edgar Renteria (Colombia)
* Jesse Orosco (Mexico)
* Omar Vizquel (Venezuela)
* Ivan "Pudge" Rodriguez (Puerto Rico)

I think the late Connie Marrero (Mexico) was also part of the most recent class.

Congratulations to Friday's other winners.

I figured you'd be a happy man tonight. Congrats to Fiers on the no-hitter.

Meanwhile, my Redlegs have now lost 6 straight...

It was a battle between Zack Greinke (LAD) and Scott Kazmir (HOU) in the starting pitching duel. Tonight, we won 3-1 against the Los Angeles Dodgers. The win for HOU went to and included a Save from Luke Gregerson. The 2015 NL All-Star starting pitcher Zack Greinke was the LAD loser. Series finale is tomorrow afternoon, which also will end our home stand. I believe we are now 68-53 on the season after tonight. Tonight was also a special night for which respect was paid to Craig Biggio on his Hall of Fame induction.

Congratulations to all other winners from Saturday, including the Pittsburgh Pirates holding serve at home against the San Francisco Giants.

We swept the Los Angeles Dodgers here in Houston with a 3-2 victory. However, this one had to be settled in 10 innings rather than nine. It was a walk-off solo jack by Jason Castro to lift the Astros in the 10th inning. So the Astros just keep the good times rolling. Making that happen and keeping up these good vibes was a win by Luke Gregerson for HOU. Chris Hatcher was LAD's losing pitcher. It's win no. 69 to go to 69-56 on the season.

Up next... we're going to the Bronx to take on some team called the New York Yankees. It will be a three-game set starting tomorrow night against the Bronx Bombers. Tomorrow night's game and Tuesday night's game will both be televised on MLB Network apparently. So you'll get two nights of loving from the Astros and the Yanks.

So how did your team(s) do today/tonight? Congratulations to all other winners from Sunday.

4-0 loss for the Reds and sweep today for the D'backs despite Raisel Iglesias' strong pitching performance. He became the first Reds' rookie pitcher to have at least 13 strikeouts in a game since Gary Nolan did it in 1967. Unfortunately, he took the loss even though he only gave up 2 runs in 7 innings. Nice job, offense. :rolleyes:

9 straight losses now...

New York Mets swept away the Rockies. After scoring 28 runs in the first 2 games (to the 18 by Colorado), only 2 would have been needed on Sunday, as they finished the season sweep (7-0) with a 5-1 win. Logan Verrett, called on by the Mets for a spot start, pitched 8 innings of 1 run 5 hit baseball. The Mets will head to Philadelphia for a 4 game set beginning on Monday with 3B David Wright expected to return following a nearly 4 and a half month DL visit.

The Houston Astros have had a very impressive season up to this point. But for this post, I want to show some love to the Chicago Cubs. The Cubbies actually have more wins than the Astros (72 compared to HOU's 69, including CHC's win earlier today). I can only imagine the time when the Cubs finally win another World Series since their triumph WAY early in the previous century.

Another NL team to show some love for is the Mets. Usually, it's usually people thinking the New York Mets are just under the shadow of the Yankees as far as New York City baseball is concerned. But really, the Yanks and Mets are solid. Both teams may end up in this season's playoffs. I doubt a Yankees/Mets World Series this season, though. Mets have really gone beast as of late.

There are still a lot of games to be played tonight. I just wanted to come in here to show some love for the Cubs and the Mets. And as always... good luck to all of your teams.

So far, so bad. My Houston Astros are on a six-game road trip through two cities. You can't win a baseball game if you don't score. That's what we failed to do in the Bronx tonight, losing 1-0 in walk-off fashion in a game that was scoreless for quite some time. Astros haven't been too good in road games. Andrew Miller picked up the win for NYY while Oliver Perez was tagged with the HOU loss. So we'll try it again tomorrow night.

Congratulations to the other winners from Monday, including Dolph Drago's Cincinnati Reds snapping their losing streak by taking down AnthonyD1993's Detroit Tigers 12-5 in Cincinnati.

Mets were down 7-2 on a night that Jacob deGrom didn't have his normal elite stuff. Didn't matter. They scored FOURTEEN unanswered runs to win 16-7 over Philadelphia. The team clubbed a franchise record EIGHT home runs tonight.

Figures the night I wouldn't bother turning on the game, the Reds would win. Looks like they pretty much did all their scoring in a 10 run 6th.

Only 19 games under .500 now. Woohoo! :lol:

How did this happen? I look in my Facebook news feed, and I read from the Astros' Facebook fan page that my Astros won 15-1 at the Yankees tonight. Yikes! So our platinum (70th) win of the 2015 season is a big one with "Kid Keuchy" doin' work. Our win by two touchdowns (with two point-after-touchdowns of course) saw Dallas Keuchel pick up his 15th win of the season for HOU. The loser for NYY was Ivan Nova. This series concludes Wednesday afternoon. With both sides picking up a win, this will be a good old Rubber Game to decide the series.

Congratulations to Tuesday's other winners, including Blitz24's Mets taking down the Phillies 6-5 in Philadelphia.

We won the HOU at NYY series! Today's win was a 6-4 victory at the New York Yankees. We now have one more win than what we had all of last year. The 2014 Astros picked up 70 wins and finished 4th in the AL West. Now, we have 71 wins... and there is still a month and change left this season to rack up some more wins! Collin McHugh picked up the win for HOU while Michael Pineda took the loss for NYY.

We got Thursday off, but up next for the Astros... the road trip continues with a three-game set at the Minnesota Twins.

Congratulations to all other winners from Wednesday.

NO HITTER!!! ...almost. AnthonyD1993's Detroit Tigers held serve at home with a 5-0 win agaisnt Patrick's Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. It was Chris Ianetta who broke up the no-no in the Top of the 9th with nobody out. If Verlander completed the no-hitter, he would have been the sixth ever pitcher to record three or more no-hitters in their career. So rather than a no-hitter, he has to settle for a one-hit victory. He still (obviously) got the win. It was Hector Santiago who was the losing LAA pitcher. This series is now 1-1 with the Rubber Game tomorrow in Detroit (LAA won 8-7 on Tuesday).

I just wanted to touch up on this game. I already mentioned my Astros defeating the Yankees earlier today. Congrats to the other Wednesday winners.

He actually did something to seem sort of worthy of that $180 million contract that a lot of people were angry with. I'm shocked.

Mets add to their August success and have completed their 5th series sweep in their past 8 series. This one went to 13 innings with a 9-5 inning triumph over the Phillies. The Mets are now 71-56 on the season.

Here is a quick standings update. Find your favorite team:

--- AMERICAN LEAGUE ---
AL EAST: Toronto (71-56), NYY (69-57), TB and BAL (63-64 each), BOS (58-69)
AL CENTRAL: Kansas City (78-49), MIN (65-62), CHW and CLE (60-66 each), DET (60-67)
AL WEST: Houston (71-57), TEX (65-61), LAA (65-62), SEA (59-69), OAK (55-73)

--- NATIONAL LEAGUE ---
NL EAST: New York Mets (71-56), WSH (64-62), ATL (54-72), MIA (51-77), PHI (50-78)
NL CENTRAL: St. Louis (82-45), PIT (77-49), CHC (73-53), MIL (53-74), CIN (52-74)
NL WEST: Los Angeles Dodgers (70-56), SF (68-59), SD and ARI (62-65 each), COL (51-74)

So in review: St. Louis with the best overall record and best in the NL with an 82-45 record; the AL's best record is with Kansas City (78-49). Worst record is with Philadelphia and in the NL with a 50-78 record; worst AL record is with the 55-73 Oakland Athletics. NYY and TEX are currently 1-2 in the AL Wild Card race. PIT and CHC are currently 1-2 in the NL Wild Card Race.

Longest winning streak currently: the New York Mets winning seven straight. Longest losing streak currently: Philadelphia and Milwaukee have both lost four straight.

Still a lot of season left. My Houston Astros (71-57), for example, have 34 games remaining and have surpassed their win total from all of last season with their win at the Yankees this past Wednesday. Nobody has clinched anything yet. So keep pushing if in the midst of a playoff race! Anything can still happen. Remember when Milwaukee seemingly have been mostly in cruise control... only to miss the playoffs that season? Like we say- it ain't over yet. So keep on pushing if your team still has a playoff pulse.

Good luck to all of your teams moving forward.

The Astros failed tonight by a score of 3-0 at the Minnesota Twins. The back half of this six-game road trip begins with a loss. MIN's winners were Kyle Gibson along with a Save from Kevin Jepsen. HOU's loser was Scott Kazmir. Saturday night, we suit up and continue the series.

Congratulations to all other winners from Friday, including the Yankees spanking the Atlanta Braves in Atlanta and Boston winning in Queens to end the Mets' winning streak in Extra Innings.

The Astros and Twins hooked up again, and we won 4-1 tonight. So we've forced another Rubber Game in back-to-back series. I sincerely doubted Mike Fiers would pitch a second straight no-hitter after his gem of a no-hitter against the Dodgers. He didn't get the no-no, but he was the HOU winner along with Luke Gregerson's Save. For the Minnesota Twins, it was Mike Pelfrey who took the loss. Series finale is tomorrow afternoon in Minneapolis between HOU and MIN.

Congratulations to all other winners, including Edwin Encarnacion going bonkers in Toronto- 3 home runs and 9 RBIs in a 15-1 rout of the visiting Detroit Tigers.

The Astros concluded this road trip with a 7-5 loss at the Twins. When I checked the Box Score, Minnesota was ahead 7-0 heading into the ninth inning. We only managed to make up five runs. Not enough to make up the deficit. So we now fall to 72-59. Minnesota takes the series thanks to a win by Ervin Santana. Lance McCullers had to take the loss for HOU.

Up next for the Astros... we're back home to host the Seattle Mariners for a three-game set starting Monday night.

Congratulations to Sunday's other winners, including the New York Yankees punking out the Atlanta Braves with a 20-6 beat down in Atlanta.

The Dodgers were no hit by Houston's Mike Fiers on August 21st. 9 days later, they are no hit again, this time by Cubs Ace Jake Arrieta.

Congratulations to all other winners, including Edwin Encarnacion going bonkers in Toronto- 3 home runs and 9 RBIs in a 15-1 rout of the visiting Detroit Tigers.
Not a bad way to keep a hit streak going. I know it is a long way off, and wildly unlikely, but if he kept going the streak would hit 57 on the final day of the season.

If only he wasn't so streaky when he was with the Reds...and not also a horrid 3rd baseman. :boggled: The DH position fit him perfectly in the American League when we traded him away some years ago. He is on a crazy run this season.
