What has you quoting me got to do with soup or giraffes feet?

Actually my whole point today was if someone can find time to argue on the internet then surely they can find 30mins to qualify the same as everybody else.

Because writing 1-2 sentences every now and then (when I'm working on my computer anyway) is the same as practicing for a the qualifying?

Brawling hell!

What's the deal with TCS anyway? I remember people in GT saying TC actually made you slower than a person with a nuanced throttle control who wasn't using it. If so then indeed it wouldnt be a level playing field.

If it is just a disadvantage, then it could be seen as some kind of unintentional sandbagging I suppose. You make tier 2 due to some wheelspin in quali, then get fed up of picking up minor points in the season down to lapses of throttle concentration. So turn TCS back on and hey presto your inherent tier 1 ability means you are 1.5 seconds down the road each time?

That's how I can see this assist disparity affecting the series.
TCS works differently in PCars. You can turn it up or down to the point where it's easy to get both rear wheels spinning out of a corner. Where it really comes into play is late in a run on worn tires and in the rain. It is a valuable tuning resource that shouldn't be overlooked if it's available. Same with ABS. IMO, someone not using it is putting themselves at a disadvantage. Nothing wrong with that of course.

Having said that, it's up to the host to force it on or off in the qualifying run. If you consider it part of tuning, then it should be tunable up or down or completely off. I can't see someone being overall faster throughout the length of the series with both ABS and TC off because there are so many advantages to it, but there is the dilemma that if someone doesn't use it for qualifying, then chooses to use it during the season and gains time from doing so, then they really weren't honest in their qualifying. Perhaps going on your honour, whatever you use in qualfying is what you should use during the season.

True, in that respect its the same as me and tuning. I'm running 2:12.3 in a near stock setup. 4-5 seconds off the pace and almost certainly in tier 3. But I know if I mess with camber, pressure, brake temp, radiator opening, gearing - which i understand - I could take maybe half that deficit out.

That may dump me in a higher tier and I feel once I get the competition spirit I'll be tinkering a lot, so its only fair I pull my finger out and tune before I qualify.

if 2:12 is 4 to 5 seconds off pace I might as well pack it up. Im in the low :13s with stock setup and TC and ABS. I though :10's are the best anyone has gotten.

Just what I hear on the group chat grapevine. The only group testing I did I was less than a second off fastest out of 7 of us. I wonder if its a case of the times not correlating between offline and online. Or some Chinese whispers. Or we're actually nubs.

If you can do a 2:10 I say your more than likely in pro.

im not gonna give up yet, just didnt hear about anyone getting 2:07's and :08's beside the cpu. Im still getting used to the wheel and the game so there is time to be made up.

well I remember reading someone uses the 50 meter board to break on alot of corners. I use the 100 meter and still can't get the car slowed down enough and just end up pushing the corner. I'm ruin in the low 12s but I feel like I'm getting a better understanding off setup settings. Even do I know for a fact I'm not getting in the 7s or even the 10s. Maybe low 11s if I pull it off.

yesterday the best time on the leaderboards was in the high :10's for this car. Of course I have no idea how the leaderboards work nor if they are right. I think it was zak if I remember correctly.

Leaderboards reflect times run in TT's only, not practice times, so someone could be running faster, just not doing it in TT mode. If you are able to run consistent 13's I wouldn't worry. You'll be placed with people close to you in skill in this series, and with damage and tire wear on and longer races, if you stay out of trouble that's worth a lot more than just speed. Avoiding physical damage, blowing your engine, ruining your tires etc. at all costs could even bring you a title:sly:. Once you get your tier placement your focus should be on doing race length runs under race conditions and making sure you don't overheat your engine (radiator opening), overheat your tires (brake ducts, camber and driving style) Think of it as more like Nascar where consistency and finishing every race in good shape pays off.

Remember too, if weather is to imitate real weather, it's going to pay to practice in predicted conditions. No point in practicing for a race at Brands Hatch at 28C and sunny when the weather forecast says 16C and cloudy. Your tires might not be as hot in the cooler weather, the car will handle slightly differently etc. You might have to change your tire pressure, radiator opening, brake duct openings etc. The drivers that pay attention to those little details will likely be the ones to come out on top.

Ok I get it. I guess TT is set where we all use the same tires, time of day temp so times are fair? The strategy is normally my strong suit anyway. Just seeing all different kinds of times had me confused.

Let me add that silverstone is my most hated track in racing game history. Although its a love/hate.

So settings aids to real in settings menu of the game will give me the same settings as in the upcoming qualifying later that month?! I don't want to make any more faults when practicing in time trail these days!

who knows PRO TOO, everything apparently up for interpretation around here.

I really wish I could turn the ghost on for you fast fudgers so I could see where Im slow. The ghost system kinda sucks right? or am I doing that wrong also. Couldnt find anywhere to turn my friends ghost on or off.

A high 2:12 it is for me tonight. Still some room for improvement. But 2:10 is definitely not in my sight, imo. Anyway. It's still fun! :)

You can use ABS or TCS if you want.

I might have a bit of a problem guys as zakspeed knows when i race with him im having problems with my t300 with it getting hot and losing some ffb then the wheel goes really light and seems to be a problem as people with the same wheel run just as long or longer and doesnt happen with there wheels i have been in touch with amazon and im getting mine replaced but the problem is its not coming till the 6 june till the 9 june so if it comes on the 9 looks like ill have not choice to miss first race really hope it comes on the 6 so i dont miss it but the wheel i have now will be getting picked up by end of week i think so hows qualifying going to work for me as its a problem out of my control

You could qualify early this week. I think @xkubunt wants to qualify early and I also want to.

If it's ok with @STALLIONO
