Well better race than Oulton Park, not as many offs. I wasn't going too race the Al, this time, got drive through penalty for some reason, maybe didn't see the warning. Good race with Joe, Skip, we all having problems.

This car needs, total concentration, when the tyres go up, have too be very careful, with throttle and brakes.:boggled:

Well done Harsk.👍
I found out about both tires and brakes the 2nd half of the race...both overheated and off to the skating rink I went! Spun out probably 3 or 4 times per lap towards the end...great fun though!
Congrats to Harsk for the win! I was monitoring you for a bit during practice, and I could tell you have terrific drifting skills with that car! Wish I did!

Well done all was very hard in this car ,only the one issue

It was bulls fight from the second corner, looked like Rich and Harsk wanted too kill each other - I couldn't believe I am not in a public room.
In the video accident I was unlucky too :( and two more times I was pushed of track. This race wasn't clean at all.

Rich, you lost control out of the last corner in the end and I slightly touched yours back. You went of and I didn't know it was due to me or yours own fault. Believe me I wasn't going to pas you at any cost, because I saw you got 6 s penalty and I was almost sure I will get 3 place after line anyway.

Guys, one more time I want to ask you please be more accurate and less aggressive, historic cars are tricky to race alone and in a close battle they are dangerous. Everyone want to fight to others, fight for victory and etc., but clean battle give even more pleasure than dirty passing.

Oh dear!

The pass wasn't possible without contact at that part of the track so you should have braked harder and waited @Harsk100

After knocking richroo off, you have a duty to give the place back. Anyone can make mistakes, but if they gain an advantage they must give the place back.

In future please do not attempt to pass in places where a pass is not possible without contact. You can drive close and wait for your opponent to make a mistake and then pass without contact.

@Harsk100 I am excluding you from the results of this round.

Who else pushed you Napalm?

I don't remember but I am sure it wasn't you :) My situation weren't so bad as in the video, someone was lap done, did mistake, went of and bumped me while returning to track. another one I don't remember.
I finished in a position +- I expected before start so I don't complaint and I don't want any penalties or something similar. I just said this race wasn't clean and I asked others be mo careful in the future.

It's understandable the disqualification of Round 3, I'm sorry Sick. Am I suspended from Round #4?

One thing that didn't help was when you get together its hard to separate the cars again , Harsk and i had a couple of bouts lucky enough to get back on track. After getting spun i see Napalm had been involved too Sorry .
Think i lost it on my own Napalm was nice running behind you for some laps tho , with the time penalty i needed to make tracks but got a penalty to slow , i did but took long time to go giving me the 3 sec ,kick myself for spin on last lap. SORRY John for hitting you coming back on .

Sorry Harsk if sick's penalty is strong .

You don't have to be sorry Richroo, it's understandable the penalty. It's a bit harder for me to drive the Cockpit View, because, as I said, I'm not very good on it. Maybe next time, I should turn on the Blind Indicator which tells where the opponent is next to me or not. Again, sorry about that incident, I hope that won't happen again. Maybe I should go slower next time...

If Harsk got DQ, Simba won the race and should receive 20 points instead of 17, as for second? And everybody else should move one position up, or I don't understand something?

Hello everyone,

@Sick Cylinder, I'd like to join in for Jan 29th race, if possible. Haven't raced in organized series in a while now.
As written in the OP, I'll send you a FR on PSN as soon as I'm online today. What else do I need to do for now?
Thanks

Welcome! It is great to get new racers - I hope you enjoy yourself! Just FR and read the first few posts on page 1, then if you have any queries feel free to post them on here.

@Tavilha - thanks for the friend request. I have added you to the "Sick's Race Room" conversation on the PS4. Everyone please friend Tavilha for practise purposes etc. Normally practise is done in a different room from the race room and is hosted by John Wells or SimbaLora (I am not back from work early enough for pre-race practise).

The 1965 BSCC Snetterton Round

Round 3 Mustang Snetterton 1965.jpg

The Ford Mustang's dominated this round, filling the podium and interestingly all on different tyres - Salmon on Dunlop, Pierpoint on Goodyear and Baillie on Firsetone. Cortina's took the next three places. Fastest laps in each class were Mike Salmon, Mustang (Class D 1.46.8), Frank Gardner, Cortina (C 1.49.8), John Handley, Mini Cooper S (B 1.53.0) and Warwick Banks, Mini Cooper S 970 (A 1.58.6). Banks was aided during the race by having a team mate in a larger engine Mini running just ahead of him which he was able to slip stream - this shows the lengths that the big teams were willing to take to secure victory. The championship winner at the end of each year could come from any of the four classes - only the first four finishers in each class scored points. In 1965 the dominant drivers were Pierpoint in the big class (D) and Banks in the tiddler class (A).

There were a couple of interesting cars amongst the DNF's - Alan Hutcheson in the huge ex-Alan Brown seven litre Galaxie. Ford Galaxie's had dominated the Jaguar Mark 2's in the rounds they entered in 1963 (three special lightweight Galaxie's had been built by Holman and Moody and imported for use in Britain). In 1965 the Mustang had sufficient power and was more nimble.

John Anstead was a DNF in the 982cc Fiat Abarth 1000 TC - these cars were a common sight in European touring car races, but were rarely used in British races.

The London Classic Car Show & Historic Motorsport International - London Excel
I will be attending this show, with a few friends, at the London Excel Arena on Saturday 17th February. It was excellent last year so I strongly recommend it to anyone who lives near enough to London. If anyone is planning to go and wants to meet up, send me a message (I will be wearing a Sick Cylinder T Shirt at the show). Below - one minute of highlights from last years show:

Next Round 4 of 5 Donington Park GP - there are a few spaces available !!!
Until then enjoy this coverage of the Pierpoint Cup held during the 75th Members Meeting at Goodwood in 2017. Note how the ex-Alan Mann team Mustang's (Red and Gold) are right hand drive. I believe that 14 cars were prepared by Alan Mann for the 1964 Tour de France Auto and after the rally some were raced in 1965 by Roy Pierpoint, Sir Gawaine Baillie and Mike Salmon. I am not certain why the cars are RHD, but sometimes it is to speed up driver changes during endurance races where it can save a couple of seconds depending on the layout of the pits - maybe @joedakiss knows the answer to this one? I am looking forward to seeing these cars again during the Masters Historic Festival at Brands Hatch in May.

You should get an invitation from @John Wells or @AndreasR (SimbaLora) before the race. I think it is normally about one hour before, but perhaps they can answer?
Tavilha, I can tell you someone opens the practice room roughly 7:30pm UK time, but sometimes earlier. They will invite you in...if not just put a PSN message out on Sick's group asking for one.

In the current BTCC, as far as I know some drivers choose RHD because most tracks are clockwise. Being sit on the left side of the car gives a better view of the apex, with no A pillar blocking the view.

Maybe the reasoning was different back then

What time is pre-race pratice held at, usually?
Then, qualifying starts at 20:30, right?
Thanks guys

I try to open a practice room about an hour before race room is opened. The differences are: no damage and no drivethrough penalty. Leavining the track can cause a time penalty.

Oh and welcome Tavilha

(if you are also a hotblooded portuges like Harsk, please try to stay cool at race start because a race is 30 minutes long enough for overtaking anyone)
;)

After a bit of research, I've come to the conclusion that the AMR cars at the Revival are recreations that have assumed the identity (in both chassis and registration numbers) of the original destroyed cars, and that the reasoning behind the RHD could be that the donor cars were RHD-converted road cars that were simply left as they were for the apex-judgement benefit as @IBZ6L20VT mentioned. My reason for thinking this is that the period Alan Mann Mustang pics I can find all show LHD cars (see below), and this period AMR Mustang road test from 1964 – note the last sentence...

"When we expressed the view that one of the Falcons or Mustangs would make an excellent road car, Alan Mann told us that several other people had had the same idea and wanted to purchase one of them, but the cars are imported only temporarily for competition work and no import duty is paid. After their term of duty they have either to be sent back to the U.S.A. or have the necessary duty paid; both methods are too expensive for cars which are pretty well worn, so Her Majesty's Customs and Excise Officers solemnly stand by while Alan Mann's mechanics sorrowfully cut the cars in half with oxy-acetylene torches."

Tour-De-France-04.jpg

Interestingly, Alan Mann Racing is currently selling what it claims is "The last remaining Alan Mann Racing Tour de France Mustang from 1964", DPK 5B (left-hand drive), after it failed to sell at auction last year.

Love little bits of historical geekery/archaelogy like this, adds another layer of interest to the racing (it can get lonely at the back of the pack sometimes hehe). Bring on tonight! None of this though please...
