Sorry guys for mistakes. AI is terible on this track. They are to fast in the slow corners and stupidly slow in the fast corners. Cant count how many times I spoon due to they were braking in the midle of the corners. Dont know how to race against them. The same was with Porsche on this track on PC1.

Or maybe it is my problem, not AI...
Sorry

Sorry didn't save replay, what happened to Rich 1 lap. I was having a good race with the Al, until I came off.:boggled:

Napalm try some practice races, I set my Al lower than Sick, they disappear into the distance.
You just have to be careful, especially in an open wheel car, like Lotus, loose a wheel.

Round 4 from Donington Park GP

Congratulations to @Tavilha on a stunning debut win! Amazing pace - I don't know how those lap times are even possible! We hope you enjoyed yourself and continue to race with us on a Monday, but if you are looking for more of a challenge the Wednesday series contains two exceptionally fast and clean drivers who you might enjoy racing with - @Friday_GTRP and @IBZ6L20VT (DD84UK).

If Harsk got DQ, Simba won the race and should receive 20 points instead of 17, as for second? And everybody else should move one position up, or I don't understand something?

Harsk was excluded from the last round and therefore did not score points, but for the sake of fairness no one took his points hence the other drivers points remained the same. NB this was an exclusion not a disqualification.

@joedakiss thank you for those nuggets about the Alan Mann Mustangs - very interesting. I will comment later after I've had a chance to look at the relevant chapters in his book and hopefully add some more nuggets!

Sorry from me as well! On a couple of occasions I got tangled up with AI cars where they used superior speed on slow corners to get inside me - one just continued going straight even though it was a hairpin bend and I lost about 10 seconds getting back on track. Apologies to Napalm and John Wells - I waited a bit to let you get going again, but sorry for interfering with your race and anyone elses race.

What happened to Rich 1 lap?

Not sure? Any news @richroo ?

I set my Al lower than Sick, they disappear into the distance.

I'm using 79/50 (79 skill, 50 aggression) which I think is working well. They are filling a space between the faster drivers and the slower drivers and give us slower guys someone to race with. It has been challenging to race the AI in the Mustang because they use a different tyre model and are not suffering the big drop in lap times when the tyre pressures rise. I find it fairly easy to beat them on lap one, but difficult when the brakes heat up and tyre pressures rise - I think I know now why wire wheels were so popular on cars with drum brakes - extra cooling air to the drums and less heat transfer into the wheel and hence into the tyre.

You just have to be careful, especially in an open wheel car, like Lotus, loose a wheel.

Don't worry John - the damage is set to cosmetic. We had trouble in the past when using full damage with the single seaters - the wheels would snap off as if they were held on with matchsticks and twigs. With cosmetic damage, the cars should remain drivable.

I've just finished reading the official biography of Cliff Allison (the first Team Lotus Grand Prix Driver) and he makes this comment:

"He cut a lot of corners, did Colin, and made things lighter than they probably should have been. There was a saying at the time that if you get Colin to design the car and John Cooper to build it it would be a world-beater, and I think that there was some truth in that. John tended to make things a bit too strong and Colin made them a bit too light, but I think between them they'd have got it right.

After a long association with Lotus, Cliff leaves to join Ferrari - he feels that although Colin Chapman probably has a world beating design in his head, he fears that he may die before that day comes from one of the many mechanical failures.

Question for everyone - has the Mustang got harder to drive since the updates? I did a lot of testing while planning this series and I do not remember the problem that we have had with the dramatic drop in road holding of this car. At the moment it feels good for the first lap and then rapidly deteriorates. I am sure the performance held up better before the updates, but I could be completely wrong. Only one more round to go in the Mustang - I am very much looking forward to the Lotus 25!

I tried that Al setting Sick, they were just to quick for me. Mine are 40/46, something similar, in the Mustang This car hard too drive, came off twice, at Craner Curves, twice in a row, because pushed to much.

Good where not using full damage in the Lotus.:)

Watched a couple on youtube, he was like getting components, to do several jobs and not caring for drivers. The Secret Life Of Colin Chapman, teamed up with Delorean, he would have been done for fraud if he had lived.

You can read a book quicker than me Sick.:dopey:

Thanks again for having me! It's a real fun car to drive. I think it's in a Grand Tour episode that Jeremy says: "back then cars didn't grip, sideways was faster".
Next monday, I'll be away, I might not get home in time for the race.
I'll be sure to check the wednesday series, thanks for the tip.👍
I really love your scoreboard, how do you manage to get all that info from the game? (I might return to hosting races later this year, but don't worry because I won't steal any ideas or layouts ;))
On a final note, if you indulge me in self-publicising, you can check my racing page at https://www.facebook.com/andretavaresracing/ or my youtube channel https://www.youtube.com/user/Tavilha

Cheers and see you soon:cheers:

Was p'd with myself for false start getting drive through, then think i got hit but quit so no replay to check.
I would normally continue but have no reset button set up and could not get back to track quick enough .

I didn’t drive the car before the update. This game is quite sensible to tire temperatures and it appears the running temperatures on the default setup are quite high to achieve the best performance.

I believe that in general, this game demands lower temperatures than in real life to achieve the best performance from the tires.

Thanks for the compliments by the way. However, I am nowhere near to be exceptionally fast, at least compared to the overall player base.

Right hand drive race Ford Mustang, 2 normal Mustangs.

The 1965 Goodwood Round (NB our substitute track was Donington Park International)

Round 4 Mustang Goodwood 1965.jpg

The race start was delayed twice, first by the time taken to clear wreckage from the previous race (F3) and second by a hail storm. As a result of delays the race was shortened from ten to five laps. Jim Clark came home first in this wet race in his Cortina with his team mate and fellow farmer Jack Sears second. Mike Salmon brought his Navy Blue Mustang across the line in third place, but was later disqualified for a non-homologated rear axle ratio.

Alan Hutcheson's string of bad luck continued - he retired the giant Ford Galaxie, unable to see in the heavy rain due to faulty windscreen wipers. Interestingly Bruce McLaren was listed as an entry in the Isuzu Bellet, but sadly was a non-starter.

Warwick Banks, the reigning European Champion dominated the smallest class (under 1 litre A) at most rounds in 1965, but at Goodwood he clashed with the Broadspeed Mini of John Terry at the chicane. Mike Campbell-Cole took the win in class A.

Next Round 5 of 5 - Final Round from Silverstone Classic - Spaces !!!

Testing - Help Wanted

I have started testing for future multi-class series: Classic Touring Cars and Seventies Sports Cars, but would like some help to check my results. It is particularly helpful to get test results from some faster drivers to check the approximate lap time differences between cars. You can use any track - pick one (or two) which you know well enough to get consistent results on and let me know your times either by posting on this thread or by sending me a message.

NB I will be posting this message on both threads - the series are most likely to be held on Mondays in late 2018 or early 2019.

Glad to help where and whenever possible.
I'll take the cars out for a spin in Algarve  and some other track.

Count with me. Do you have a deadline to present the results?

Currently I am only able to do the Wednesday race but could find some time in a couple weeks time.

I'll see if I can test some cars today. 👍

RE tyre pressures, here's a link to a post from one of PC2's programmers that I found useful/interesting: http://forum.projectcarsgame.com/showthread.php?57541-Project-CARS-2-Tyre-Temps
So for us, the target tyre pressure should be around 26 PSI, which explains why the Mustang gets a bit snappy when we hit 27s and 28s when running with summer dates

Thanks for the compliments by the way. However, I am nowhere near to be exceptionally fast, at least compared to the overall player base.

Please don't be modest, it makes us slow guys feel even worse about our pace!

Looking forward to tonight – after studying @IBZ6L20VT's demo lap and doing a lot of practice over the weekend, I think I've finally got over my dislike for Silverstone Classic. Also, I realised my pedals had been calibrated incorrectly and I was only getting around 70% braking power – I was wondering how you guys were braking so late at Donington!

Hopefully I have more luck than last week – as well as the three 'give place back' penalties I got from being behind a spinning/spooning car (no-one's fault, just a game bug I hope gets fixed with patch 4), I also had the PS4 'Share' screen randomly come up when I was braking for the hairpin, which meant I went straight on and lost loads of time. Several times in previous races I've had my pit speed limiter come on randomly too – in all cases there was definitely no way I could've pressed the button accidentally. Have any of you guys had anything like this? If not it must be my cheapo bluetooth keyboard playing sneaky tricks on me...

That thread is quite useful. I’ve been using it as my benchmark for tuning.

Remember that my posted lap is under ideal conditions. Expect a much more lively rear end.

Although flattering I know I am not ‘exceptionally’ fast compared to the times that some guys can pull on time trials. Also, I rarely win in open online lobbies :)

Good final race at Silverstone, you had some pace there Sick, came off a couple of times. Al over took me at the chicane, on the outside never got a penalty.
When I got lapped my tyres cooled down, to 26, then when set off, were up too 28, after a couple of turns. Making it fairly hard last couple laps.

Could the right hand drive Mustangs, have been built in Australia, like the Ford Zepyhyr, Zodiac, Consel, maybe Canada. In both countries they drive on the left. Does the other vision have disc brakes, suspention is stiffer when tested at Silverstone.

Well done Simba Napalm.

Great race yesterday, the most enjoyable of my sim-racing 'career' so far. Qualified relatively well, got a good start and managed to lead for a while when Simba came off. Made a few silly mistakes allowing Napalm to pass, then got a couple of ridiculously harsh slowdown penalties that saw @richroo take second. (Sorry for obstructing you during one of them Rich). They really need to get patch 4 out and sort this asap, the punishment is so disproportionate to the 'crime', especially when the 'crime' costs time in the first place!

For the majority of the race I was keeping within a few seconds of Rich, but after another slowdown that cost me 5 seconds(!) I never got close enough to put on any serious pressure again. In the last few minutes, I noticed Simba taking a second or two out of me per lap. Towards the end of the penultimate lap, Simba had closed the gap to a second, setting up a nailbiting finale battle for third.

I had mentally prepared myself to try and keep my cool and concentrate on holding my line and defending the position. Then BAM! Up comes the PS4 'share' screen randomly as I pass under the bridge, sending my car into the wall and robbing me of the chance of battling for position against the season's champion. Gutted.

I've hopefully found the cause of the bug thanks to @IBZ6L20VT tip of removing USB periphirals during the race, and although the outcome was disappointing this race just reminded me how enjoyable this series can be. Thanks again @Sick Cylinder for all the work you put in, the fact you're testing now for a series that doesn't start until late 2018/early 2019 says it all! I'll try to get some times for you for the testing in the next week or two.

Once I'd had a break after the race lastnight I had my first go in the Lotus 25 at Donington – so much fun! Really looking forward to the forthcoming season.

I asked about this at work and apparently there were some RHD Mustangs built in Australia, but this didn't start until later in the Mustang's life so it can't be the case with the early cars the Alan Mann campaigned. Oddly, the only way a RHD Mustang could be ordered from the factory in 1965 was as a VERY expensive option only available through the New York dealer. I think it's more likely that the RHD Alan Mann cars at the Revival were based on conversions done over here, because I don't think many cars were factory-fitted with RHD due to the cost of the option. Why they chose to base the recreations of the AMR cars on these, rather the LHD cars that would have been more historically accurate (not to mention cheaper to source in the UK), I have no idea.

I had very strange issue yesterday. Joined prerace loby, exited pits and my wheel didnt work. Reconected wheel - didnt help. Restarded ps4 - in the menu I felt ffb strenght but in loby after exit pits wheel and pedals didnt work. Thought my T300 died. Retarted ps4 again, tried PC1 - all was fine, entered PC2 prerace loby - wheel didnt work. Can you imagine how furious I was? :) Turned ps4 and tv off, turned on again and finally everything was fine, except I had only 30 min for practice.

Was a bit unlucky in qually because I was involved into battle with AIs in the first laps, latter had clear space but tyres were to hot and couldnt improve my times.

After start I was involved in the accident again. It wasnt my fault but I got warning and my safety rank droped in the 3 race in a row. There are ridiculous rules that not quilty driver is receiving penalties.

This was very interesting championchip. Mustang is tricky but no less funny to drive. Congrats to all
