Great race yesterday, the most enjoyable of my sim-racing 'career' so far. Qualified relatively well, got a good start and managed to lead for a while when Simba came off. Made a few silly mistakes allowing Napalm to pass, then got a couple of ridiculously harsh slowdown penalties that saw
@richroo take second. (Sorry for obstructing you during one of them Rich). They really need to get patch 4 out and sort this asap, the punishment is so disproportionate to the 'crime', especially when the 'crime' costs time in the first place!
For the majority of the race I was keeping within a few seconds of Rich, but after another slowdown that cost me 5 seconds(!) I never got close enough to put on any serious pressure again. In the last few minutes, I noticed Simba taking a second or two out of me per lap. Towards the end of the penultimate lap, Simba had closed the gap to a second, setting up a nailbiting finale battle for third.
I had mentally prepared myself to try and keep my cool and concentrate on holding my line and defending the position. Then BAM! Up comes the PS4 'share' screen randomly as I pass under the bridge, sending my car into the wall and robbing me of the chance of battling for position against the season's champion. Gutted.
I've hopefully found the cause of the bug thanks to
@IBZ6L20VT tip of removing USB periphirals during the race, and although the outcome was disappointing this race just reminded me how enjoyable this series can be. Thanks again
@Sick Cylinder for all the work you put in, the fact you're testing now for a series that doesn't start until late 2018/early 2019 says it all! I'll try to get some times for you for the testing in the next week or two.
Once I'd had a break after the race lastnight I had my first go in the Lotus 25 at Donington – so much fun! Really looking forward to the forthcoming season.
Could the right hand drive Mustangs, have been built in Australia, like the Ford Zepyhyr, Zodiac, Consel, maybe Canada. In both countries they drive on the left. Does the other vision have disc brakes, suspention is stiffer when tested at Silverstone.
I asked about this at work and apparently there were some RHD Mustangs built in Australia, but this didn't start until later in the Mustang's life so it can't be the case with the early cars the Alan Mann campaigned. Oddly, the only way a RHD Mustang could be ordered from the factory in 1965 was as a VERY expensive option only available through the New York dealer. I think it's more likely that the RHD Alan Mann cars at the Revival were based on conversions done over here, because I don't think many cars were factory-fitted with RHD due to the cost of the option. Why they chose to base the recreations of the AMR cars on these, rather the LHD cars that would have been more historically accurate (not to mention cheaper to source in the UK), I have no idea.
