I had practised on international track.
Many apologies for the wrong track name - I meant the GP track.
Thank you to everyone who has been posting test times - I will be looking at all of these soon.
The BMW and Merc will be a great match-up despite their completely different characters. On tighter circuits the BMW's agility should give it the edge, as Oulton shows, but fast circuits should favour the Merc. With the right combination of tracks it could make the championship really interesting!
We did a BMW v Merc series on PC1 so this time it will be a bit different, with those two cars in one class and a faster car for slower drivers in another class. The Escort sadly is too slow to use in a multi-class event with the other cars, but I am currently planning a seperate Escort series. If people could test the race version v the road version - that might be a possibility.
Monday was on but Wednesday is off. With it being valentines day Sick must have a romantic evening planned. He'd better hope the wife doesn't find out though.
Yes - Mrs Cylinder and I went out for a meal last night. For 2018 I decided to build days off into the programme for family birthdays, anniversaries and Valentines day as well as Christmas - in the past I have come in for a bit of stick for putting the racing first before family events. My Wife and family don't understand my hobby, but thankfully they do tolerate it.
Why we will use Bonnachbrae instead of real Monaco track?
The real Monaco is not in the game and I really dislike the fictional version which SMS have put in. Bannochbrae is a great track reminiscent of some of the street circuits used in the past and it is particularly well suited to the Lotus 25.
I have posted the points table on page 1 as usual. I noticed that Harsk picked up a 3 second penalty and the game therefore listed him as finishing behind Richroo and myself.
I thought it would be fun for this series to post results of the races which we are replicating so that you can see which drivers achieved the same position in 1965. The table is shaded in the colour of the country of manufacture - green. In 1965 almost all the cars were made in the UK. As usual the drivers finishing towards the back had inferior cars - John Rhodes, John Cardwell and Rodney Bloor achieving wonders with cars powered by modified four cylinder Ford 109E road car engines - the other drivers having the advantage of thoroughbred V8 racing engines from Coventry Climax or BRM.
