I don’t think Sick will set the next race in wet conditions. However I thought it would be fun to run a lap on light rain conditions. Doable and extremely fun. I definitely recommend it if you want to improve your skills.

Note to all Drivers - we have 2 rounds left in the current series. The next series "1967 The Career" has been lengthened to 10 rounds by adding Silverstone Classic and Watkins Glen (both popular tracks). The 1969 Camaro mini series has been cancelled, but an event using this car will be scheduled later.

The new "Historic Le Mans" layout will be used for two rounds (6th and 13th August). The two 24 hour events - Daytona and Le Mans will be tackled over two rounds creating into the night and into the day races.

The cars used for this series are the 1967 Ford Mark 4 and 1967 Ferrari 330 P4. The colours / race numbers will be assigned and drivers will change cars at the mid point in the championship. These cars came with the basic game. I do not know if you will be able to race on the new "Historic Le Mans" layout without buying the pack - I strongly recommend buying the "Season Pass" or the latest pack.

On Wednesdays the "Group 6 v Group 5" series has been postponed so that we can make early use of the new pack - I think the content is too good to delay the 1970 series until the originally scheduled date in 2019!

Note - the start of this thread will be updated after the current series has finished - until then here is the poster and track list. It is hoped to make round 3 (Silverstone Classic) a wet round - subject to successful testing of settings.

Championship Table - the updated table has been added to post 1 on page 1 of the thread - SimbaLora is on 95 and Lancerevoo is only 6 points behind on 89 - either of them could be our new champion!

On Sunday I visited the "American Speedfest" at Brands Hatch - the weather was excellent and the racing was good, but the main event - Euro Nascars was actually the least exciting - they sounded like a field of flatulent lawnmowers as they wobbled round the Brands Indy circuit! I skipped the second Nascar race to watch the "Wall of Death" vintage motorcycle stunt show - wow! This was fantastic and well worth the £5 admission!

As next weekend is Le Mans 2018 I have to share with you my photos of the 1950 Le Mans Cadillac's of the Briggs Cunningham team. The French fans nicknamed these unlikely looking race cars "Le Monstre" (The Monster) and "Petit Petaud" (Little Puppy). Briggs was not offended and had these names painted onto the cars. They had some advanced features for 1950 including Pit to Car radio and "Le Monstre" featured aerodynamic styling and five carbs - one for low speeds and all five for high speed running. The cars did surprisingly well and completed the race in 11th and 10th respectively.

Ah Banochbrae.
Fairly early on I spun out near the church but managed to pretty well save it. I came to rest just kissing a wall. "That was lucky" I thought, looked down and I'd got 48% damage to both front suspensions. What! The wheels didn't touch anything! So I drove my wonky car back to the pits, crashing again on the way because it was wonky, which made it even more wonky but I still managed to get there. The pitstop took 1.56 during which the leaders had already gone past. "OK never mind just carry on you might still have a good race with someone" I thought. Then when accelerating while exiting pit lane my wheel spun to the left and my car crashed straight into the wall - making it wonky again! "Sod it" I thought and retired

I had done some good laps in practise - but that was with damage off! I kissed the wall on the first corner of my out lap in qualifying and had to limp round for a whole lap. I got a slow repair done, then crashed again so qualified slowly and carefully! The round at Bannochbrae was planned to mimic the Tasman Rounds held at Longford Tasmania which were held up until 1968. Sadly that year it rained heavily with the result that attendance was down and the organisers lost a lot of money - it disappeared from the Tasman calendar after that! As we can hear from the late Frank Gardner this was probably a good thing as the cars had become too fast for the circuit:

I know many of you have seen this film including @IfAndOr - I'm posting it again as new members may enjoy it and it is so good that another watch will still be enjoyable for many of you!

Hi guys, unfortunately I won’t be able (again!) to upload a lap with the Lotus 49. I am very sorry for this.

Yesterday I only had time to put a couple of laps with the Aussie V8 and now I’m not coming back home until late Sunday.

Summer is short in the UK (something in the region of 5 sunny days, 25 cloudy and 60 rainy) so the ones living up here need to make the most of it!

Information on the next Championship

We still have one more round left in the current championship, but I thought it was important to give you details on the next series. We will be using the 1967 Ford Mark 4 and Ferrari 330 P4 to recreate some of the epic Ford v Ferrari battles. There will be night to day transitions and a car change half way through the season so that everyone gets the chance to drive both the Ford and the Ferrari. Coping with traffic has always been a big part of sports car racing and the "Am" Drivers will race a Ford Mustang (Road G) in four of the ten rounds - very similar in performance to the one used by Claude Dubois and Chris Tuerlinckx in 1967. Triple points will be on offer when "Am" Drivers are on Mustang duty.

All drivers will be members of Team Gurney or Team Foyt - scoring points for their team and on an individual basis. We currently have one vacancy for Team Foyt and two for Team Gurney so if you know someone who may be interested in joining please let them know about the series.

1967 Track List.jpg

Below - Driver list showing teams. Notice that there is now a Driver Number column.

1967 Drivers.jpg

Below - Car assignment table. Use your driver number to check which car you are driving at each round. For example in rounds 1 and 2 I drive a Mustang (White / Stripes), then for rounds 3 to 5 I use a Ford Mark 4 number 19. Rounds 6 and 7 I drive a Mustang (Black / Stripes) then for rounds 8-10 I drive a Ferrari 330 P4 number 7.

1967 Car Assignment.jpg

A second example - Simbalora is driver number 11 - he drives a Ford Mark 4 number 1 in rounds 1-5 and a Ferrari 330 P4 number 4 in rounds 6-10.

For each round with a full room there should be 16 cars on track of which 4 will be Mustangs, 6 Ford Mark 4's and 6 Ferrari 330 P4's.

If anyone is unsure which car to use please send me a message or post your query below.

IMPORTANT NOTICE FOR ALL DRIVERS !!!
We are going to try a different type of start on Monday and Wednesday - instead of waiting 1 second before leaving the line, just wait for the car in front to leave the line then start when you think it is safe. This should stop us getting so spread out on the first lap, while also being safer than a conventional standing start.

Sorry guys, I had to leave because I suffered a big crash by hitting Napalm accidentally and my car couldn't turn properly. :(

Probably worst race ever for me. Lost a bit back on the curbs, couldn't catch a car and spined. Since it was first lap and we were in close pack, three cars rode into me. Sorry guys.

Does anybody know - is it possible to reinstal game and didn't lose game progression?

Well done to Andreas for keeping Lancer at bay, both had good pace.

Unfortunately I couldn't save the race, I wanted to see how I managed to thread my car through that first lap pile up on the mountain. The walls are very close up there! After that incident, since I couldn't catch the two up front, I just ran around pretty much by myself for the rest of the race while trying to avoid those walls.

The new modified start procedure seemed to work quite well. Although I don't think everyone read the memo. (Might need to repeat it on the PSN messages)

Right, now I've got to sort out what I'm in and where we're at for next week.
