Congratulations to Champion Simbalora / AndreasR

Many congratulations to @AndreasR on winning another championship. I remember a few years ago his son @Flaco13 asking me if Dad could join us - only a short time later Andreas was winning races and championships!

Perhaps someone reading this is an online novice - if so give it a go, join us and try out the wonderful world of online racing - I can't promise that you will win races, but you will probably enjoy them!

1967 Round 10 of 10 Brands Hatch.jpg

I hope you all enjoy this short film of the real 1967 BOAC 500 which we recreated last night. It's a great period piece with shots of many famous drivers and historic cars.

The thread will be updated later in the week for the new SCCA inspired mini-series.

Note - Page 1 of the thread has been updated to feature the new series which starts today. Please look at post 1 which details the tracks, cars and race numbers to use. Please also look through post 3 - the listing of settings now matches the layout used in the game. Changes requested and made for this series include: mechanical damage (be careful not to over-rev your engine or wear out the brakes), automatic gears option was requested by controller users.

Please also look through post 3
All looks very good. 👍
Got to look after the cars now.

The only thing I would possibly suggest is to increase the Allowable Time Penalty slightly (is 10 the next stage?). It would add just a bit more leeway before a race spoiling drive through penalty is required. You'd still accrue time penalties, in fact more of them if you keep going off track.

Am+ that's more like my abilities. ;)

I think the penalty is set as low as it can go - it has briefly been tried on 10 in the past, but was reduced to 5 as it produced penalties that were too long.

Am+ is good! Joedakiss should also probably be in that category, but he will give us Am's someone to chase!

Is @JockeP22 going to join us on Monday's and Wednesday's? I hope so - we have spaces for more clean drivers!

Join us today @Mr Tree and @jefaais - check post 1 on page 1 for the car and race number details.

Quite happy to try and earn my way into Am+! Some of my recent performances have been shocking (three spins and a DT penalty before Paddock Hill Lap 2 in the last race! :banghead:) – I get married on Friday so been too swamped in wedding planning to get any pre-race practice in lately. Can't commit to racing tonight for the same reason but I'll do my best.

On the plus side I've managed to blag an XK150 as a wedding car which we then take down to the Goodwood Revival so can't complain

Edit – @Sick Cylinder any thoughts about integrating the 250 SWB into the 2018 schedule, or will that be coming in 2019?

Oh, I thought it worked the other way around. If it was increased you had to have more time penalties (ie.10 seconds worth) before a drive through was issued. Whereas at the moment you only need 5 seconds before a penalty. I could be completely wrong though, it wouldn't be unknown. :)

Have tried it in the past without the drive through penalty but with increased time penalty?

It's good to get it over with early. :)
All the best for Friday. I hope you have good weather.

I'm not sure if @JockeP22 is going to grab a Jag and join us. I don't expect he's had much practice though. Come to that I haven't driven the Camaro yet!

Good evening, gents.
Yes, I'll be joining you tonight for round 1 in the Jaguar V12 E Type.

I've read the rules and taken notice of the first corner procedure (no overtaking).

It says you want me in the #31, @Sick Cylinder, but unless I'm very much mistaken that number is not available on this car.

Am I right in that the Monday series is commencing with round 1 tonight and that the Wednesday series do round 1 next week?

He can drive either. He might not have a Jag as it was DLC.

Hello guys!
I'm available tonight if there's a spot for me. Can I join? :)

Yes - please do - the more the merrier! Please use Nissan 240Z number 8.

Yes - that has been in my mind all along, but we need to test the cars first - not long to wait now!

PS - Have a great wedding. I'm very jealous about the car - post some pictures of the XK150 please and later some Goodwood shots if you can!

I thought you didn't have the Jag so originally gave you a Camaro race number. Please use the Jag race number 109.

Round 1 is next Wednesday, but you can join this Wednesday if you want - it should be a lot of fun as the round is at Silverstone Classic which always produces great racing! I'll post up the car and number on the Wednesday thread later, in case you are available.

Great qualification 🤬 start. :banghead: :)

To save spinning up the big V8's tyres I thought I'd try a clutch start. The principal was good but as soon as I pressed the clutch the car rolled backwards, so I eased the clutch up and it bit and rolled forwards slightly causing a false start drive through penalty! Being a bit annoyed I then lost concentration and crashed!! Other than that it was a good race.
I didn't think I was going to like the Camaro but it's great. You don't have to change gear, much.

Great win and pace @Harsk100. I was hoping to give you a race. ;)

Well done to @JockeP22 for jumping in and being on the pace. 👍

Thanks Paul, last night was the first time I booted up the game in 6+ months or so.
Lots to re-learn, hence why I set the least amount of laps out of everybody during qualifying,
I spent most of that session trying to get the HUD how I wanted it.
I believe I only set two proper flying laps before the start of the race.

But it was a nice experience really, the game really is fantastic and a lot more difficult than GTS.
Still a lot of glitches though, some corners had these small dots of pixels gleaming like stars in a night sky.
Maybe screen tearing is the proper term for it. I wonder if this might be because I'm on the original PS4 and not
the Pro.

I got more comfortable towards the end of the race and improved my lap time from qualifying
by 0.824, I'd like to forget about that spin though which cost me twenty seconds before I had recovered. Also had an almost twenty-minute long terrific battle with Oldbass47.
Roll on next round..

It's taken me awhile but I've just realised what it probably was you were seeing, it's Livetrack in action. That's the gravel and dirt represented on the track surface. Someone had been off track and had returned at those points, It stays there until someone drives over it a few times and clears it away. It does reduce adhesion so watch out for it - I think it "glitters" slightly more than what would be natural just to grab your attention. So it's not the game at fault it's the game being quite clever actually. :)

Oh and it's generally on corners that you see it because drivers don't loose control on the straight at all. Well rarely. Maybe sometimes. Ok you can see it all over the circuit. :P
