It might be a bit touch and go for me tonight but I'll try and make it.

Interestingly, the Bentley is one of my favourite GT3's. I spent a lot of time making a setup for it that drives really nice. Great fun being competitive in an open lobby with 'The Boat'.

I have never driven the Aston before, so this should be interesting.

Also, hello @ILIV and @WiSchmo

Sorry, Sick! You caught me off-guard the first time. I figured I might be able to slip through but... At least I dodged you a few laps later!

And sorry to the Porsche driver and everyone else behind him in my row. I accidentally stalled my car right after the start and kept everyone for a while sitting behind me.

In my defense, I haven't slept for almost 24 hours yesterday. We had to deal with our pet's medical emergency. I wasn't even sure if I would make it to the race.

That said, I'm glad I qualified as 7th but totally messed up my race.

Looking forward to another round!

I have to say, I'm very pleasantly surprised by the GT3s. I've always disregarded them after driving them in open lobbies and finding them boring to drive with all the aids on, but to my surprise they are not only still drivable with everything off, but are also an absolute hoot (at least the 911R is, balancing the rear end on corner exit is great fun). Also hats off to @beachboy6658 for a great clean battle for the majority of the race, shame you lost it in the last few mins because we were set up for a great final battle!

That was me in the Porsche, no worries! I think there's a setting somewhere to prevent stalling or at least to auto-restart your engine.
More importantly, I hope your pet is ok.

Good to have you, @WiSchmo and @slthree join us as some fresh blood in the room, I hope you can all make it regularly.

@Sick Cylinder is there any chance we could squeeze in a Nurburgring round in to the current championships? Group C cars at the 'Ring has to be one of the most epic combinations in motorsport history, and it was always a repeat fixture in the calendar in the WSC era. GT3 would be interesting there too, plus I feel like we visit there very rarely considering how legendary it is – from memory I think it's once in the last 2 years!

I intentionally try to make it as realistic as possible: manual control in the pits, manual cooldown lap, etc. Somehow it only makes the game more interesting to me :)

Thanks for the racing action yesterday. I practiced quite a bit so I wouldn't embarrass myself in the first race, and it payed off handsomely. I hope I can maintain this level of preparedness and still have a normal social life, though ;)

Congratulations to @AndreasR for the fastest lap! Too bad that he joined late for qualifying. He was fastest in practice and would probably have been tough to beat on track. Looking forward to that on Wednesday!

I figure you're talking the Nordschleife? Yes, please! That would be amazing! It just offers a driving experience different from any other modern track. The Group C beasts 'round there is downright scary (and I mean this in a "let's get out there and have a blast" way).

+1
I would love to race there in our every series

Sorry to everyone for the shambles of a round yesterday! For some reason the room was bugged and stuck at a limit of 12. our previous race was on a track with a limit of 12 (Knockhill) and although the room was setup as 16 it kept opening with a limit of 12 - very frustrating! Especially as I knew there were 16 people waiting to get in! I hope PC3 (or is it PC Revolution?) increases numbers to 20.

Sorry, Sick! You caught me off-guard the first time. I figured I might be able to slip through but... At least I dodged you a few laps later!

I think I spun and the unfortunate person behind had no chance to avoid a collision. Next time I spun I made sure to keep still until the car had passed.

@joedakiss - I will have a think about a Nordschliefe round - it might be an extra round with a delay in starting the next series.

Congratulations! It was almost as if your car had 16 cylinders and mine had 4!

Very sorry to hear this - our thoughts are with you and your family.

Sorry @AndreasR for the big shunt at the start! It ruined your race.

After rushing to alter the changed time settings, creating the room and sending out the invites (I even forgot yours!) I then rushed around during the short qualy to close the windows and curtains in the house. So come race time I was a bit discombobulated. The race started and my head wasn't quite with it, I accelerated but pressed pause just to check I'd set I'd track temperature correctly unpauseed and everyone had slowed down. I didn't, crunch. I decided to retire, muttering.

So after all my practice and testing I didn't even make it to the first corner. :irked:
Ah well there's always the next one.

I like the GT3s and Brno is a great wide flowing circuit, I'd race there all the time!

Well done to @WiSchmo for a great first race and to @ILIV for getting around in one piece. Glad you both enjoyed it. :)
(Glad to hear your cat is on the mend Iliv)

The Nordschliefe is great if we can stick together in a group otherwise it becomes a drive in the country.

it kept opening with a limit of 12
I don't think you could have been clicking on save as you exited the menu?

they are not only still drivable with everything off, but are also an absolute hoot
Unless you manually switched them off you were probably* racing with ABS and TC set to low - the defaults for the GT3s. The race hard tyres were being helped get/keep stickier by a 40° (August) track temperature which keeps them fun to drive. Removing/changing either of these makes them trickier.

In the room settings all aids were svitched to NO (I checked that before race), I guess. I liked that, because I didn't use any aids anyway :)

I had practiced using current date (end of July basically), sunny weather at noon and I think I used race slicks.

The moment we started practice I immediately could tell the difference at how much (little) I could push the car around.

I'm still very much new to Project Cars and haven't experienced everything it has to offer so yeah learning on the go was quite exciting.

Actually, I think it took me more than half of the qualification time just to get those tires warm enough to put in the fastest lap I could.

Btw has anyone saved a replay of this race?

@IfAndOr if you see the replay I eventually smashed into a guardrail and severely damaged my car. Had to pit in and get it fixed.

Speaking of the pits, I didn't expect rules to be changed on the fly. Is this what you typically do? I may have to pay closer attention to messages in the chat room.. and reconsider disabling notifications during the race too.

Changing the rules on the fly isn't normal at all, it was purely because of the reduced race time due to the number of drivers glitch that Sick experienced. Unless anything like that happens again, you can expect the rules to be the same as what Sick has written on here.

Turn the notifications off, it really, is a great help, I did send a friend request, but, your name here. Hope Kitty gets better.

The pictures are beautiful, yet again, John

I'm sure it's no small undertaking to select so many wonderful stills from a 20 minute race. It's much appreciated.

I do a lot of "waiting" during my work day and pouring through your pics are a perfect way to spend that time.

And, thank you, ever so much for reminding me that I spent some time at the beach!

Did anyone else go off at the top of that hill where the turn is basically a blind one? It's the left hander just before the start/finish straight.

I only did 10 laps but I believe I went off there three or four times

I see you have a picture of my driving offence @John Wells ;)

In the room settings all aids were switched to NO
It's slightly more complicated than that.

And it depends on what you have the driving assists set to in the game's Authenticity menu. If it's set to authentic even though the room will say NO you will still have the option to use the various aids IF the real world counterpart also makes use of them. And since I believe it defaults to low ABS and TC you may have been using them without realising it. The levels can be adjusted or switched off completely if you have the buttons mapped.

If you have the driving assists set to off or full in the options menu you wouldn't be able to use them either way in the race - because they are either off from your choice or because Sick has them disabled.

I have mine set to authentic so I can choose to use them or not. Which I recommend is the most realistic option and it keeps it more even between the players.

Strangely the "Force Realistic Driving Aids" in the online race setup screens doesn't seem to actually do what you'd think it should - enable the aids where they should be. In fact it doesn't seem to do much at all! I was going to suggest it to Sick otherwise.

manual control in the pits, manual cooldown lap, etc.
Yes I have all these turned on in the single player game, it does make it much more realistic.

It can't be shared, can it?
You can actually load in replays via a usb stick. I'm not sure if John knows how to output and share it though. Anyway you don't want to see my race faux pas, the pictures are damming enough. :P

I tried the Aston @rj5992 - Stable / TCS low(or high) / ABS low / brakes @ 68\100 = Not bad at all. The TC made a difference on this car - although on loose it was still a bit wayward!

I am not sure this is true, @IfAndOr .

I have mine set to Realistic in the game's main settings. I did a quick check at the beginning of qualifying, which was still with @Sick Cylinder as host and realistic driving aids disallowed, and the little icons for ABS and TC would not flash. So I do think that host preferences is prioritized over your personal game settings.

I didn't check during the race, though. What did you set, realistic or off?

Did we actually get to a qualifying session with Sick. We restarted a few times, I can't remember! Maybe it's different if the host has other options set?

Anyway
What did you set, realistic or off
I had them set to NO (off) as per Sick's races and the lobby screen reflected this. But I can still access them on track if needed, and I'm pretty sure I have been always been able to!
Because of this I've just run a few test lobbies using the various options, the game itself and the online settings, and that's what I found above. If I have authentic enabled I can use aids if I haven't I can't. A bit strange really.
I'll have to watch for it in future races.

I hate using stable as a setup
Now't wrong with stable, especially if it's better than loose.:)

I've seen it said that stable is for controllers only so I tried to find the source of that information. All I could find that someone mentioned it on the Pcars forum once and it spread, not even an official statement or anything. So...
My personal rule of thumb is stable for racing, loose for messing about. Depending on the car and what feels best.

Are you saying I can copy a replay from the game directly to a USB drive?
Well yes and no. You can copy a replay onto a drive but then you would need to transfer it to another PS4 with PC2 on it to watch it. It's not a video file in other words.

I reckon Willi's right here – I have mine set to realistic but last night none of the respective lights in my HUD were illuminated (nor did they flash), and the brakes were locking with too much pressure. Didn't feel like power was being cut when wheels were spinning up either

Well I'm even more confused then!

Maybe it is something to do with the Force Realistic Driving Aids option - although I didn't have that enabled last night. :boggled:

Or I wonder if it's because I have the buttons mapped. Don't know!

That race last night has properly put me in the mood for some British GT action this weekend at Brands. Can’t bloody wait.

What a few weeks it’s been too! F1 at Silverstone...then a club racing event with probably one of the best races I’ve ever seen in my life...then the Titans RX event at Lydden Hill (what a day that was...never been thought I’d watch a race with Andrew Jordan and Nelson Piquet Jnr going head to head...and I got to chat with the legend that is Irish rally ace Craig Breen...who is currently prep’ing for Rally Finland)...

This weekend British GT...then the DTM featuring the climax of the W Series with Jamie Chadwick...and then WEC and ELMS at Silverstone.

....goodness me.

...and I love me my GT racing...can’t wait!
