Most difficult section of a track to drive

Well, Suzuka has always seemed tricky, that is, until I learned how to do it in TT... now I realize what a baby I'd been for actually complaining about the "easier" car course.

What keeps getting me are sections that you can't see very well, like at Fuji or Chamonix... time to get a bigger TV... :indiff:

RE: aforementioned sections of Citta d' Aria, Costa, Cote d' Azur, El Cap (I just love that hump after the tunnel... good way to test suspension compliance) and the Nurburgring? Those are some of my favorite track sections!

Nuerburgring's North East section is by far, the most difficult one for me.

One factor is that I haven't exactly remembered the corners, but the biggest factor is because that section has a lot of semi blind corners. Which makes it even harder to memorize.

It's absolutely thrilling to zip through it, though!

I like Costa di Amalfie, Citta di Aria, and El Capitan. They're great tracks for testing techniques and setups. For me, a car (within power-range) that can't win Costa di Amalfie, is set up bad.

Despite my complaint about Cote d'Azurs more GT styled set up around Pool, it's still one of my fave tracks next to (ironically another tricky sectioned track) El Capitan lol

Flugplatz at the Ring, going from downhill to uphill at highspeeds....
High powered cars and especially unstable cars.
You need a really good line, sense of speed and a good timing of brakes.
Try it in the Mine's R34 with all aids off.
Good luck!!

Which turn is 130R? I do not know the names of any of the turns on any of the real tracks.

It's the fast left hander after the back straight (with the second set of pits) just before the final chicane.

That one? Then excuse me for the bad info 👎

I find this corner so and so easy, it's those 90 degree corners I've got problems with :ouch:

I can think of exactly zero of Suzuka's corners i feel i can nail everytime. :indiff: - i don't hate the track, far from it, i just never feel like i can ever really do it justice.

Oh that one! I love that turn, you can take it almost full throttle in most race cars, and if you overshoot it, you have another strip of asphault to fall back on. IMHO, it's one of Suzukas' easier turns. Now, the chicane following it is a different story. I sometimes "cheat" on that one, and use the small pavement pathway that bisects it :D.

Slightly off topic for a second... but speaking of tracks...is Suzuka West (damn them for making this one..) the only track without a pitlane?

I think it is yes, you can't enter it on GT mode because there is no race on Suzuka West.

But there's still tire wear and fuel usage on it right? (I don't drive the west version that much) Wow, I guess PD missed that one. :D

i hate the part on El Capitan where your just going over the hill into the tunnel, and i never really like the cork screw at Laguna Seca.
Brake earlier. Problem solved.

A very difficult part is the last s-turn at the Motegi full length track. You have to break in the middle of that turn....:scared:

And of course the extreme turns at the Coasta Amalfi, you have to break to 30mp/h to take that turns. :yuck:

Don't you use power slides ?? :odd:

I mean brake early, steer, apply handbrake and accelerate while you steer the opposite direction just as your tail is spinning around you...

Toronado
What forum do you think this is sir? There is no handbrake use in GT4, as it doesn't do anything!

Excuse me Sir ?

I race the Costa Di Amalfi and when I get into the 180 degree turns I use exactly this technique. I'd suggest you give it a try... Also the same applies for the dirt and snow circuits. I suppose you did not test it thoroughly enough.

You probably have used your handbrake before you steered to find out it did not work.

Christ, YOU CAN'T SEE WHERE THE TRACK IS!!!!

Hell yes. You can't see at all. I mean, it's asphalt all over the place. It is, simply put, more of a challenge to see where you're going than going there. I love the layout of Fuji '80-'90 (the non-chicane gives a more flowing feel, but is less challenging). I like this one, too. But it's simply too unclear.

Speaking of which, I also hate the Casio Triangle. Not because it's a chicane for which you brake from 250+KM/h, but because there's this little road (the west shortcut?) just before. I always go on that little road and bump into the wall, simply because they're both the same width, and there are no cones...

Seriously though, because of that, just drive everywhere until you see where you are. I hate that the straight on it can only fit maybe 2 cars. Not a good move.

I think there's a difference between tricky corners and corners that are tricky to get right. I think the back section of the 'Ring is very hard to get spot on, but to take it just 5 or so km/h slower is simple. I do agree though, the cuty streets are difficult, unless you're dawdling.
