Motorcycles in GT6?

You know, it often happens that people object and scream murder until it's included and suddenly it's the best thing since sliced bread.

Except GT5's damage system. (Well with me anyways. I didn't really care to see it implemented and then it ended up being meh)

^^ How would you control the monkey?

In singleplayer I'd imagine your passenger would be an AI bot, but it could be much more fun in a multiplayer co-op mode (perhaps even online) sharing the same screen, one player riding the bike, the other moving around and timing their weight shift.
I'd be up for sidecars even though I highly doubt they'll be included.

Yep, they're amazing!

Yep, they are. :D

Here's an Rfactor mod of how it could look like.

Sidecar racing involves a lot of teamwork, so it'd be interesting to see two player action. One controlling the vehicle, and the other controlling the passenger :dopey:

I think you have to have a screw loose to be the passenger / monkey / co-pilot. :D

If you do use an AI for one of the roles, it'd be good to be able to choose - i.e. so you're not always the driver if you don't want to be. Of course, that depends on Bob's piloting skills...

I can confirm this, my dad raced sidecars with my uncle as co-pilot.
Knowing both, let's just say it wasn't hard to figure out who took which role.

As for being a co-pilot next to Bob, it could be done in some premade scenario/mission instead of realtime, like some missions in other games where you are in a vehicle/plane shooting, mainly to practice your skills.
Unless they seriously improve Bob's driving/riding rythm which isn't exactly fluid as it is now.

That's what I mentioned a few posts above yours. ;)

That's what I get for not reading the posts completely :dunce:

Since we're talking about sidecars, I'll drop this here as well (sorry Griffith500 :dopey:)

As for Bob being my sidecar passenger:

I wouldn't mind a Bobette though (as long as she's smart enough) :sly:

I think improved AI would be universally beneficial, so I hope it's in the works anyway. Hopefully they won't be so improved as to develop a sense of rationality and refuse to passenger for you!
But yeah, some "mission" type events would be interesting, if only, as you say, for training - but that means the only place you can get real sidecar racing would be online and local co-op, maybe.

As for that CBX-powered outfit, my Dad and I toyed with the idea of making a Z1300-powered kart, or similar, since we had a lot of spares lying around after a gearbox repair. :P

But, along a similar line to the custom RM and Carrosserie-style "make-your-own-car" ideas, it might be interesting to be able to make your own outfit from existing bike parts - much like it practically always has been in the sport. But that's probably more in the realms of a bespoke game.

Not sure if it's still the case, but monkey used to have the highest mortality rate in all motorsports.

Yep, they are. :D

I love this picture of Steve Norbury. Must be about 2005 in the FIM World Sidecar Championship. I was probably there with this bike.

Sidecar drifting is very definitely possible. The Team LFR bike used to slide around beautifully. In the Lockside Racing photo, you can see all the rubber laid down from sidecars.

I wouldn't say that you need a screw lose, one of te cleverest guys I know is a sidecar passenger, you just need to have no fears. However, one of the passengers that I know is a World Champion and a 2 time Isle of Man TT winner, but when he went to Alton Towers (Good Theme Park), he wouldn't go on any of the rides due to fears.

At least if comparing the "should motorcycles be in GT5" thread it looks like perhaps in this thread more people would like to see motorcycles in a future GT release though it could be that the people that want them in are making a bigger noise.

Again I would like to see a poll to see if there has been a trend change.

To the OP, is it possible to add a poll even if it is likely not conclusive, will give an idea.

Thanks

This topic needs to have a poll

Unless the poll is going to be the majority in favor of bikes or not caring if bikes are added (which I kind of doubt would be the case). Those opposed will just use it as a tool to say "I told you so". Even though it may not represent the opinion of the general GT population. No matter what a poll would say it is obvious that there a fair amount of interest in motorcycles and gt6.

I see your point, the poll results are largely determined by who cares strongly enough to actually submit a poll answer so a true reflection can never be guaranteed.

Which is why the Porsche vote went high

Absolutely, and I meant no disrespect - I was really talking about the fearlessness aspect myself.
Nice pic by the way.
Is this guy for real?

It's probably a case of what you know.

What made you change your mind, may I ask?

I had a long meeting today with some older employees that are having a hard time adjusting to change. Ive been playing GT so long that I couldn't imagine it changing at first. After today's meeting I realized that I needed to open my mind.

Nice to see someone open and honest with themselves. Sometimes change and opening your mind to see other people's point of view can be very difficult. People may quote that and point at me, but whatever. believe it or not I actually do listen to other people's points of view and try to take away any useful information that maybe thought-provoking and help to see other people's viewpoint.

There you go. You're a goodman, change is good. In most cases…
