I'm not sure how well a wheel would work for this game. the analog stick allows you to tilt the car while in the air. you couldn't do that with the wheel. I need another game that takes advantage of my g25 but I'm not too disappointed that this game doesn't have wheel support.

tomorrow the PR demo comes out for those who purchased the latest espidoe of Qore. I sure did, and considering the demo will be out for 30 days, i'm going to take advantage to practice:) i can't wait till tomorrow!

it's for sure it is better than motorstorm 1 but not that much.
Vehicle models are great.
Far distance drawings are very clear.
Anti-aliasing quality is sometimes looking enough but it could have been better.
no 1080p or upscaling.
It's very heavy to drive a monster truck. you can actually feel it. also driving physics are improved.
I really dont like the road surface textures in motorstorm1 and I'm thinking same for MS2 too.

Does someone know how to get the demo? I inserted the promotion code, but i dont know where to go to get the demo.

Yeah I got "selected" as well, I'll sort it out later today and see whats what.....so wish it was SOCOM beta instead LOL

I have registered motorstorm 1 like a few months ago and still no demos but I'm not worried about it.

I'm talking purely gameplay, I'm over that jaded gamer "let's pick apart the visuals" phase. All it does is ruin games for you.

Right had a good session on the game now and although I'm not a great fan I'm impressed with it! First up I've not been following all the vids and screen shots so I'm kinda using the first game as a bench mark having played that quite alot. First up the visuals as I noticed a few post from people regarding this. There.......well.......Good, nope thats understating it, there fantastic LOL Again using MS1 as a benchmark the grphics are much more realistic with a greater amount of track "furniture" with everything looking like it should be there, rather than "heres the track, and theres a pile of tires strategicly placed" now a pile of tires looks like is part of the track rather than a "item" stuck in afterwards.......bad example I know, sorry. Anyway what this means for the racing is the shortcuts arn't so obvious! And neither is the distinction between the track and the locations, it gives it a more involved feel. Moving quickly on, the cars, Just 3 on the demo, a moster truck, bike and racing pickup. all are much more detailed with the usual bits flying off and panest getting muddied up, again a much more realistic look to them, this is helped by the whole lighting scheme. Final point on the graphics, the framerate......It's only a demo but.......It's rock solid! And I do mean rock solid! Huge multi car pileups, with dirt and body panels flying everywhere and even with the track stretching of into the distance with a full feild of vehicles churnig up the road it never skips a beat. Really good to see!
Ok thats the graphics out the way now onto the handleing. Again mirroring the graphics everythig feels more realistic, less "bouncy" more solid. Cars will understeer more in the dirt and the vehicles weight in comparison to the bumps and lumps of the course are more evident, you don't now "Skip" along you feel like your "ploughing" through the roads soft surface, take a jump and on landing your vehicl "feels" like it's just hit with some force! This also extends to the turbo system, you don't now catapult along at a quad zillion miles an hour, rather you go a little quicker and start to strugle for grip! Finaly the ruble effect is quite strong compared with recent PS3 titles which is a change for the better!
So what else? well the AI is something to mention, took me about 10-15 races to get 2nd........yep it's harder LOL The wipeout crash syaystem is still in place with the slomotion action. In car view is now much more usable with a better camera position though still not available on the bikes. Sound is still the same old same old and the one track available on the demo is verry well layed out with a coule of BIG jumps and lots of multiple routes. There is a single player mode and a 2 player mode in the demo and I've not tried the wheel so I couldn't say if it's working or not, may try it soon and I'll let you all know.
As I stated at the start this isn't really my "cup of tea" but I'm very tempted now after playing the demo, I've also tried the demo of pure recently and it pales into comparison compared with MS2, love the direction of making it more lifelike but still arcadey and if the online aspects are any good I'll be getting the full version.

It should have an option to use a wheel....if preffered by the user, that way they can cover people like me that would pass on the game due to lack of this feature. Don't they wanted to sell as many games as possible? :-)

I love the new game, it's only a demo but it just feels right. At first I had my doubts, but it's grown on me. The physics are so much better than the old one, also the mud build up looks better now it looks more layered onto the cars rather than just pasted onto it. The Monster Truck edition is awesome, I love the way they've included the full four wheel steering which helps turn the trucks so much! The splitscreen mode is...one word...awesome. The graphics do not downgrade, the only difference is you only have 6 cars on the grid, but the advantage is your mate can race you which is a big enough plus. Overall, awesome I'll be buying the full game no doubt about it.

Hmmm... I got the early beta too, but I can't say that I'm that impressed with it to be honest... It doesn't seem so different from the first game, and I was a little disappointed not to see the jungle that has been shown so often in the trailers.

This brings me onto a gripe I have in general with game trailers nowadays. Why do they bother showing the flashy intro sequences, when the graphics for the games are so good now? I could understand it with the PS2, but not the PS3. All I want to see is actual gameplay graphics, not some pointless trailer that says nothing about the game! :grumpy:

I was disapointed with the demo actually. it just looks like a jungle expansion for motorstorm one (with a few improvements)

Fair enough, your entitled to your own opinion about the game I like it so I'll most probably buy it, but as a contrast I wouldn't buy Little Big Planet which many people here would so perhaps you could see me as being weird.

I never owned the first game but I have played its demo and also the new Pacific Rift one and I have to say it seems that not all that much has been improved which isnt suprising the speed and which the sequel came out, I would have the agree that it seems more like an jungle expansion rather than a full on new title.

Bit and bobs here and there have been improved, the physics and damage is better but thats about it, apart from slightly better graphics I dont see much change. I guess its because Motorstorm keeps on having these lovely CGI trailers and then it makes the game look worse.. Pacfic Rift doesnt look anything like its own trailer let alone the original ones trailer! and the cars still hover slightly above the ground.. rather than being buried in it like sega rally.

But hey thats my 2 cents, im sure it will still sell like hot cakes like the first...

Robin.

Although I kind of agree With you Robin about it feeling more like a Jungle expansion, I will say off the bat I'm not a big fan on MS full stop. But I do enjoy a quick blast. MS: PR has really polished the graphics engine and added new stuff too. Its really is a tasty looking game and I will probably see my pops buying the game on launch.

the demo doesn't show much; just the gameplay as usual. You guys say all this stuff like the 1st one had a lot to show as a Demo. If it were completely different, i don't know that i'd want it.

How does the photomode work? Does it upload to a external site or save to your memory? How much control does it give you when taking the photo i.e. shutter speed etc.
