My 69 Camaro Pro-Touring build. Updated 9/30/14

Plus my Camaro has a buddy for a few days. My neighbors son is on leave from the Navy and this is his Viper. I got to drive it Saturday. 650 hp! :)

Oh poor you. Now you realized you need 650 horses on your Camaro. Whatchugonna do about it?

My favorite generation of Viper, in my favorite color scheme? I may just be a little tiny bit jealous. 👍 Bet it was a hoot. Good to see the Camaro coming along well, too.

I would have to rebuild the entire drivetrain of the Camaro to handle 650hp. Not interested. But it was fun driving that Viper that's for sure.

Yes driving the Viper was a blast. They have always been a dream car of mine. In fact the viper is where I got my original idea from for the rear exhaust. But later modeled the exhaust after a Lamborghini Murcielago.

TY. The Camaro has been doing very well with the cold weather. I now have the interior sealed about 95% from the cold. In fact I have hardly used the heater this week. Stays nice and warm in there now. Also helps keep out the exhaust fumes.

Last night I also re-hooked up my front lower LED/SMD marker lights and side LED/SMD marker lights. So now every single light on my Camaro has been converted to LED or SMD. Oh wait, I still need to hook up the new LED headlights. But I will do that eventually. All the other lights are ALL LED/SMD.

I also bought and installed these last night to replace the existing old door jam vents.

Lu-cky, Still trying to get my "neighbors" from down the street to get some type of drive going. Or a few pictures....Oh well next summer.

Since the WRX is STILL broken down I have been daily driving the Camaro. Snowed yesterday and I actually had to SCRAPE snow and ice off the back window before I left work. This is how it looked by the time I got home. This morning it was 20 degrees out. So now I have a snow scraper in my car. Wutttt??!!! :dunce::scared:

Yeah no kidding. Out of the 12+ years I have owned this car, THIS is a first. Cant believe I had to put a snow brush in the trunk today. However I had no other option, no other way to get to work today.

stupid Michigan and its stupid Climate... LOL Maybe a good texture for when you get old enough to paint it. Looked through the other pics, definitely needs to stay primer for a few more years.

TY. I slipped a disc in my back a few years ago so physically painting it myself is no longer an option. Eventually if I do pay someone to paint it, it will be the same "World Rally Blue" that's on my 04 WRX. That blue pearl color is so beautiful. You can see some pics of the blue WRX in my dedicated 04 WRX thread.

Since its winter, I am going to replace the 160 degree thermostat with a 190 degree thermostat just in case I have to drive this car again during the winter. That will also increase the heater temperature by 30 degrees which will make it MUCH warmer inside the car.

Pick up a $100 beater to avoid exposing the fun summer car to salty roads. I did this mistake once :(
I have a 2004 Subaru WRX that I use as my daily driver. Perfect for winter. Only reason I was driving the Camaro was because the WRX was in the shop for about a month.

And just in case I have to drive the Camaro again in this cold weather I decided to buy a new 195 degree thermostat and this chrome housing. I usually use a 160 degree thermostat for the summer but the 195 will make the heater much warmer for this winter.

I decided not to install the 190* thermostat. I just don't want it running that hot. So while I was letting the WRX antifreeze drain, I started working on these.

They are tow hooks for the front of the Camaro in case I go off at a road track event or if I need to get towed. :)

The assembly will be hidden behind the front bumpers. All that will be shown from the front will be the large nuts. The tow hooks will only be installed whenever I am at road track events or if I need them in an emergency. Now all I have to do is weld this angle iron to the front frame. I cut the metric threads off and welded standard bolts in place. The entire bolt assembly threads in and out. Eventually I will install some on the rear of the car too.

Whoa almost a year since my last update. Been so busy on the house / garage this summer and I have neglected my cars this year.

Here are some of the updates since my last visit.

1. Shortened the driveshaft about an inch to allow proper clearance.
2. Installed a new rear transmission seal. Very cheap and easy to replace.
3. Started installing the LED halo headlights I purchased last year. I will post the install pics of those after I finish wiring the LED halos. Its actually quite a bit of work. The headlights are the last lights I need to replace for the entire car to be converted to LED.
4. Washed the entire car from top to bottom. It was VERY dirty. Then spent about 4 hours polishing and cleaning the Budnik billet aluminum wheels using Mothers and Never Dull. Takes about an hour per wheel to remove all the oxidation, stains, and fine scratches after the car sits for a year. Those 2 products are the best I have ever seen when it comes to polishing aluminum.

LED Headlights with halos. Not fully installed yet. Almost....

I really like this picture a lot. Car is clean, wheels are polished, WRX to the left, Camaro in middle, and American flag to the right. Such a beautiful summer day picture.

Very cool car. You still have the Stang? Or did you sold that. Can't remember

Loving the rims on it 👍

 Thank you. Yes sold the 67 Fastback Mustang last summer. Truly miss that car but that's just life.

Hopefully I can get the Camaro back out to some road track events. Been a few years and I truly miss getting out there. Plus I want to test how well the new front QA1 coil overs will work out there.

I just spent the entire summer and all extra money repairing my garage and house to prevent flooding. Wasn't able to put any money or time into the cars this year. I also think my 10 year old Centerforce clutch is getting close to its expiration date. haha I am impressed the clutch lasted this long.

Ooooh shiny billet. What are those, Famosas?
Yes they are 18" Budnik Famosas. Bought them off another 69 Camaro back in 2004 right before I attended my very first Power Tour.

Eh, duh, only now did I noticed you mention them in your sig  it's one of the few billet wheels I like, because it looks modern yet retains the classic 5-spoke heritage.

I agree. There are very few billet wheels I like. The Billet aluminum is a LOT of work to keep up with especially if it gets exposed to weather or track abuse. The other problem I have with the billet is when I do road track events the composite H brake dust gets so hot it actually slightly melts the dust to the wheels and needs to be buffed out after each event. If I ever purchased different wheels they would be black for sure. Black wheels would be MUCH less maintenance. They would be black wheels with a chrome lip for sure. But that's honestly the last thing I would put money into with this car. There are much more important upgrades that would come before something aesthetic like wheels.

The 10 year old Centerforce clutch is showing its age and would have to be replaced in the near future. When I go to replace that I will pull the engine and trans at the same time. Then give everything a refresh including paint and gaskets. Clean up the engine bay. Always something to improve.

Oh damn, that does sound horrible to deal with  never imagined that could happen.

As for the rest of the car, yeah, with a build like this, you're never really finished unless you have a checkbook car., but if you're doing stuff yourself, nope, neeever.

I don't know the term in english, but there is a procedure to make the pores close and maintain the chrome look.

Something high density

How it works

It starts off with bigger rocks and goes down to those tiny gravel stuff

Looks finished like this (start was a normal LM rim)

Hochglanzverdichtet.jpg

Sealing them off with some 3M sealant, nanoprotection (or whatever make) doesn't improve it?
