Thank you everyone for your kind comments, i am doing my best to release the Build 07 asap.

The Build 06 took a really long time because we didn't know exactly what direction to take for Redline Racing.
But now that we have a clear goal, everything will happen much easier / faster.

Build 07 will correct almost all the bugs from the previous version. (Doing my best to fix them)
Here is a short list of the new features.

- Better Automatic Transmission (With the possibility to go reverse now ^^)
- Some correction on the Tire model
- A little improvement on the suspensions (Still need lot of work)
- Exit Game menu option
- More Pre-Race and game settings
- Better Gamepad compatibility
- Laptime
- Driftpoints
- More cars
- One more track (not sure about it, depends on how smooth other task goes)
- And more :)

I'm curious, how many tracks do you have in plans, and do you mind suggestions/user creations for that as well?

Hi rallymorten!

Yes, basically i would like to include as many tracks as possible, because nice cars selection without good track selection is totally useless.

G.T.Ace made a track for rFacotr if i remember well, and he gave me the files, (Still didn't had time to check sorry G.T.Ace!).
So, we could include he's track or probably many others if the creator of the track accept it.

I also would like to include a Rally track because it would help to improve suspension physics and general car/tire physics as well.

2 Things i forgot to mention also,

In the build 06, there is a very huge memory leak that i forgot to detect.
The build 07 correct this leak of course with a performance gain close to 200%.

Second things is quite funny but, did you know that since now Kunos from Kunos Simulazioni (Asseto Corsa / Netkar) helped me to solve many issues in my racing simulation?

Its funny to see how few people are acting in the car / tire physics business.
And i am very honored that Kunos in person gave his own personal time to help.

This guy is very generous. Only good things can come from him, he is a true passionate and car enthusiast.

Thank you Kunos!

I just downloaded Build 6 (luckily it has all previous builds in it :) ) and I've gotta say, I like what I was doing. That 355 is doing nothing but wheelspin in the first gear, and it will punish all attempts of drifting, great fun 👍

If I'd have to come with some constructive feedback, only thing I can really think of is that the menus are a bit quiet. I tried playing in the menus while listening to this and this to test some options and it actually felt like they suited Redline just fine.

Regarding tracks, I can send a suggestion to you by PM. I don't have a tool for making it myself, but you can feel free to make it/draw inspiration from it.

Wow, being a beta-tester is cool :dopey:

rallymorten,

Thank you for testing, yeah the menus are very quiet for now, we are thinking about adding music and sound effects, but we are lacking of time :(

Well, the menu silence I guess is just a minor problem, at least it's nothing you should worry too much about yet :)

What's the chance of a Linux port?
What's the chance of opensourcing the project?

Linux port will come very soon, please just wait a little bit more.
For opensourcing the project, we have no plans about that atm.

Fun game! Need some practice driving though. :P
Thanks ! The driving model is still not perfect, that may explain your difficulties.

Excelent job, i can't believe that all this was done by 2 persones.
Nice!
Believe it please :D

I corrected a lot of issues in the driving model for the next build.
Can't tell exactly when the build 07 will be ready but stay tunned for more infos and screenshots!

:D

I'm really impressed by your work. I really like the graphics and the models, and how the game looks in general. Can't say much of the tyre model because I only tried 2 cars with comfort ones, but however, it feels very good.
And I mean, years ago I tried to make a 3d racing game with a Game Maker and some scripts and coding (as well as very basic 3d modelling) and I mean, I understand how much work there is behind all this.
Congratulations, hope this will grow into a serious alternative to GT...

An advice: since I think modelling is the most time-consuming thing in a videogame like this at this point, I suggest you to use the current models as much as you can. For example, you could put a Ferrari F355 street version, a TS version and so, as well as many BMW out of the M3 (323, 328) with -relatively- less effort than if making a car from scratch: that would drastically increase the number of cars while adding something to the game, I mean, having more cars with similar power and performance...

Hey, jujunosuke, is there any chance of getting karts put in? I think it's a fun project for independent game developers to simply enjoy. There's no suspension, no gearbox, but racing them is still fun, regardless.

I hope you got the latest version though, I fixed a lot of things wrong with it.
Also, since you guys are pretty good with the 3D stuff, maybe it's time to concentrate more on the trackmodeling. I could make tracks, but I know you don't want these typical 3D objects everyone uses. So I'd build a track and you the sorrounding for example.

Some basic fantasy tracks shouldn't be an issue.

Thank you everyone for the great comment and support.
It motivate us to do better and surpass the our initial goal.

Hey Mr Melancholy, i don't know atm because i am not a big fan of karts myself...
The closest to karts would be Formula 1 but its still a little bit low on our list right now.
Because we are a very small team, we have to set priorities. And kart or Formula 1 are a little bit low on our priorities atm.

But why not ? I don't know myself how Redline Racing is going to turn on :D

G.T.Ace, thank you for your awesome proposal.
Actually, i am not sure if i have the last version of your track.

May you send me the last version of your track?
So, i can make a test in my environment?

That's right, we will focus on making trackmodeling. One Racetrack get boring very soon, so we plan to add some new one as soon as possible.

The Build 07 should come with a lot of new fun stuff!

just a small update to say that the news section of the site is ready!

get access here for the last news :

If any english native people could check the text content, to see if the english i wrote does not look strange, or if i made any spell-miss or something else, that would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks again everyone for your support!

Seems ok then again my punctuation and grammar need help lol.

I'm no native, but I do what I can, and this is what I came up with for the Build 07 teaser:

We are currently working on Build 07 of Redline Racing. This version will basically correct the lacks of the previous version, adjust the tire model, add more cars and options, as well as some surprises we can't reveal now.. Support us and register now!

Also, I haven't sent you my track creation yet, because I'm working on replicating it in another game, to give you an idea of how it looks in my head. I'd more than happily have done a working model myself, to help development, but I lack the tools to do so :grumpy:

Thanks rallymorten, i updated the text ;)

I did not know that you could create some racetracks!
What kind of racetracks are you working on ?
Is it a famous racetrack ? Fictional ?
What type surface ?

Would be glad to see any screenshots.
For tools, the only stuff i know is bob track builder..

If you have enough knowledge you can do the same thing with 3dsmax, maya or Blender.

Well, I do some regularly, fictive tracks inspired by real ones, mostly tarmac but I can make some rally ones :)

I know about BTB, problem is I don't have it. I'd more than happily take off if even just a small load from you guys 👍

Sorry for double-posting (and bumping ), but I showed jujunosuke this one yesterday, and I thought I'd let you guys see it too. Nothing special but a bit of gameplay with some music added just to test how good they would work:

Click me!

Digital cookie to the first to guess them all :)

Also, I didn't get around to saying this in the PM, but I could help with some car descriptions if you want 👍

@rallymorten
What do you mean by help with some car descriptions ?

And, for the music, i will do my best to compose one, because music is probably my second passion after making programs and games.

Maybe some sounds samples to come soon!

I am also reading each comments that has been wrote since Build 06 came out.
And i am currently trying to fix each of them for the next build.

Few of them has been fixed already :

- impossible to go backward in AT (fixed)
- Wheels does not turn fast enough with keyboard (fixed)
- Adding bonnet/hood cam (added)
- Can't exit the game via menu (fixed)

+ a lot more.

I meant that if you would want some car descriptions to run in the bottom of the screen/be accessible by pushing a button while looking at a car, I'd be glad to make some for you 👍

In regards to music, I've seen some of your other videos, and I'm not in doubt you'll make something good. The video was mostly a test to show what might work good, and what may be worth trying to make something similar to :)

 We're very similar, jujunosuke.

I'd be interested in doing a remix (perhaps) of any of your songs to go in the game in different places. Everyone knows you can't really have death metal in the dealerships, and then lounge music while driving a car on a track. Naaah, other way around. So, if you write a song, I'll offer to work with it a bit. I don't know how much time I'd have, because it depends on when you release it...

I see, that would be nice!
I'll try to work on that functionality for the Build 08, i probably need to re-design a bit the dealership section so that is why i prefere to wait for Build 08.

But that is a good idea. ;)

I would be pleased.
Music will be mostly in a Gran Turismo style for menu (Jazz lounge)
And maybe more like DnB or Rage Racer / RidgeRacer Type4 style for Replay.

But i am not sure to add Ingame music for now..
Usually Racing sims don't have any background musics as it would disturb the concentration.
For example, that would be embarrassing if you could not hear the tire squealing that give you the information that you are starting to oversteer so you could countersteer before doing fishtail.

Does it make sens ?

But yeah, menus and replay music would be cool.

👍 This was my idea exactly! I was thinking of taking the Jazz lounge theme and remixing it into a DnB track for replays... We think alike!

Well, my idea for in-game music (while driving) would be to have it set to "off" by default, and only have an option to turn it on in the options menu.

Otherwise, if iRacing doesn't need in-game driving music, neither do we. :)

Things are shaping up here it seems, I hope we're not being too much of an annoyance work-wise for you

I'll start coming with some suggestions to car descriptions, same as with the track, use them at will 👍

That is very cool!

The thing is when i was in France, i had my PC in my hometown with Fruity Loop installed, and i had many good quality VST with a very good workflow.

But now, i have only a MAC laptop to work, and Fruity loop is not supported.

So, i am working with Reason4, but it seems that i can't get the same results, and it take far more time to accomplish what i want...

Anyway.

Just finished the descriptions of the 5 cars in the game already and they've been sent to jujunosuke. Beginning work on the requested ones 👍

Very good news!
The Build 07 will arrive shortly!

The dev of Redline Racing is going very smoothly and quite a lot of features have been added to the Build 07.
