I think you missed my point Famine.

No, I rather agreed with it - for some key words:

I find the "boys have at it" culture in NASCAR both ridiculous and dangerous. But that's NASCAR's culture and possibly DNA so that's the way it goes. And if the fans and sponsors like it and they are the ones making NASCAR profitable, they won't change it.

Hun200kmh
and will remain so up to the day someone actually dies because of it.

Allowing Jeff Gordon - or anyone - to get away with a deliberate attempt to obliterate another driver brings that day closer.

It shouldn't have to wait until then. Folk should be looking at this as the proverbial straw and say something needs to be done to avoid that day.

Admit it: NASCAR is funny and entertaining :D

I like stock cars. I wouldn't be posting here if I hated it...

Which isn't far off, looking at what some drivers (and fans) think is acceptable.

To compare the spaceframed, 200mph, 800hp750hp, 1.5 ton, silhouette, stock cars driven by big-sponsor folk wearing flamesuits and HANS devices to the origins of moonshine runners in 300hp pony cars sedans is to miss the point somewhat.
Some editing need in your comment:nervous:
Pony cars were not big enough to haul moonshine in.
Some real moonshine cars used:

@ Famine. This is 2 years old, and don't bother with the bit - and race footage - before 2:10. Because it's from that moment onwards that the "NASCAR way" gets debated, After DPatrick says "I believe there's a strong chance that he might've done that on purpose"

It is interesting to watch the conversation that follows.

NASCAR announced that Mid-Ohio is replacing Montreal in the Nationwide Series beginning next season.

Definately a good day to be a Ohio NASCAR fan. Wonder if that means a possible companion event weekend with the K&N Pro Series.

That sucks. Montreal was the only one I really made a point to watch in that series.

You don't like Road America?

Also, its practically the promoter's fault for making unreasonable demands.

Yes. Let's not ban a nobhead who treats his 1.5 ton car as a weapon because some other people weren't.

Probably due to the exact same, flawed argument - that doing things wrong in the past is reason enough to keep doing them wrong.

Gordon shouldn't be suspended. He should be banned and arrested on a felony count of assault with a deadly weapon. Professional driver, my arse.

I'm torn on this. While the rulebook does have involvement to keep the law away from solving matters, what Gordon did was against the law, and the law does reign supreme.

But if that's the case, why aren't Carl Edwards, both Busch brothers, Kevin Harvick, Tony Stewart, and many others banned and in prison?

If we were to go off that logic, then we'd have a hell of alot of NASCAR drivers (and even owners) in Jail right now.

Nationwide on Mid-Ohio? That sounds awesome! I've gone to both the Watkins Glen(for Grand-Am, didn't watch Nationwide) and Montreal (also for Grand-Am but watched Nationwide this time) and the race in Montreal was fantastic. Still would have preferred the ALMS to go back...

As I understand it, when competitors in most sports sign the contracts with organizations to allow them to compete, the contracts include some sort of agreement not to press charges regarding any "on-field" incidents. The idea is that the sport's governing body will have and enforce rules to punish wrongdoing instead. So even if a driver were permanently disabled by a deliberate crash caused by a competitor, I believe that he or she could only file a lawsuit against NASCAR, not against the driver that caused the crash. This may be somewhat inaccurate, but regardless, there's a very good reason that you never see lawsuits filed between competitors in any sport, except for things that happen away from the playing field.

Not just Nascar, other series as well.

Even Ayrton Senna (largely worshipped on this forum) is guilty of intentionally wrecking another driver.

Exactly. How the whole thing started was when Bowyer tried to Senna Gordon (and Johnson) at the first Martinsville race.

Let me comment quickly on the Mid-Ohio news. Wow! Mid-Ohio is a great race track for no matter what kind of racing goes on. Doesn't matter if it's car racing or motorcycle racing- that is a competitive track. I was NOT expecting Mid-Ohio as a track to replace Montreal. But since it is, I'm jacked. There are a lot of great road racing tracks in the Midwest. No matter what you think about oval racing, I still think NASCAR races on some great road courses. Hell, they could have raced at Autobahn Country Club, and I'd be happy.

"Bad Brad" will win the championship if he finishes 15th or better at Homestead. Him and Jimmie Johnson (Five-Time) are the only ones actually able to win the 2012 Cup championship. So who you have winning the Cup title for 2012: the #2 or the #48?

My money is still on Brad. Unless mechanical problems befall his car, or somebody acts stupid and wrecks him, Brad will win this championship.

Jimmie does have one advantage, however - luck. What happened last weekend gives me a gut feeling that something bad will happen to Brad.

My only question is, what layout will be used? Will they use the full course, use a shorter circuit, or what?

If I were guessing, NASCAR Nationwide may likely race Mid-Ohio without the chicane. That is unless the cars get up to speed so quickly there to where they can't slow down quick enough to take on the following corner.

According to the radio program I was listening to today, Brad's lowest finish since Bristol was 11th at Charlotte. So yeah, he's due for a bad finish sometime soon :(

Doesn't mean it's going to be this weekend. I look for him to be on the conservative approach anyway.

Don't be surprised if a member of the Bowtie Brigade mysteriously "blows" an engine and takes Brad out very early in the last race. And the "official" NASCAR report will state, "Just one o' them-there racin' deals..."

I see you have taken charge of the Tinfoil Hat club.

The conspiracy theorists will never shut up. It's pointless to try to stop them.

Im saying the 2 will win the championship, i will say im rooting for Johnson.. Just because i can't stand Keselowski. I do think it would be cool for a Dodge to win then they might consider coming back to NASCAR sooner. If they come back..

How do people not like Keselowski? He seems to be like a legit nice guy, and far more mature than anyone named Busch.

Completely confused whenever I see someone bashing him.
